Boeing Engineering Test & Evaluation (BT&E) is seeking a Flight Test Engineering (FTE) Manager to join the Boeing Test & Evaluation organization in Seattle, WA , supporting all Boeing Commercial Airplane Programs (BCA).
The FTE management team leads a dynamic organization in performing developmental and certification flight testing of Boeing commercial aircraft. Testing is conducted primarily out of Boeing Field in Seattle, as well as occasional remote testing at a variety of domestic and international sites. In this position, you will manage flight test engineering teams and projects, partner with program and functional leaders, demonstrate strong organizational and communication skills, and utilize your effective problem-solving abilities to support our test programs.
Position Responsibilities:
Provide oversight of engineering employees responsible for test planning, definition and authorization of airplane configuration changes, test planning, test conduct and test data analysis in support of airplane development and sustaining flight test programs
Provide leadership in the areas of test program development and integration, scheduling and execution, trade studies and departmental processes/policies
Assess and lead resolution of issues impacting test program progress, including root cause corrective action to prevent recurrence
Utilize operational skills to raise team performance and meet cost, schedule and quality commitments
Develop and maintain budgets, schedules, earned value metrics and performance measures
Build relationships and partnerships with customers, peers, suppliers, direct reports and other stakeholders
Manage, develop and motivate employees
Occasional travel is required to support remote testing for up to 4-6 weeks at a time
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

5+ years of experience working in a lab test, flight test, or similar test environment

Overview
Integration and test (I&T) engineers work closely with systems engineers to develop, verify, and validate requirements for cutting-edge complex systems that may involve optical, mechanical, electronic, and/or software elements. In the early phases of a project or program, they work to understand the customer's needs and participate in technology readiness reviews to gauge the organization's ability to produce the desired product. I&T engineers are responsible for understanding all system interfaces and developing rigorous integration and test plans to ensure each system and subsystem requirement is appropriately addressed. Subsequently, they execute on those plans by utilizing their extensive hands-on assembly, integration, and testing skillsets.
A Senior Integration and Test Engineer leads a wide variety of technical activities during the product realization process for assemblies and systems involving a high level of complexity. In particular, they are charged with leading the planning and execution of AI&T activities for projects that may involve precision cleanroom assembly, specialized equipment/fixturing, and custom test bed development. They help in assessing existing AI&T equipment and processes to ensure requirements for a variety of products can be effectively verified. Additionally, a Senior Integration & Test Engineer plays an important role in training and mentoring more junior engineers. With an optics focus, they are primarily tasked with hands-on integration of optical components through assembly and precision alignment.
