  • Create submittals for doors, frames and hardware from architectural plans and specification.
  • Manage and respond to electronic contractual changes (RFI’s, PC’s, Etc.). Quote changes that affect our material and/or labor cost. Distribute Change Order Due letters to the contractor.
  • Order materials (Purchase orders) from approved submittals for timely delivery according to the construction schedule or as agreed upon with the contractor for billed and stored material.
  • Support the Performance Door project field supervisor for the timely delivery of materials according to the construction schedule. Send field use drawings periodically reflecting updated schedules incorporating project revisions.
  • Provide monthly pay application to the accounting department including back up documentation for stored or FSC materials.
  • Actively pursue contractual β€œChange Orders” from β€œprice and proceed” CO Due letters. Take an active role in collecting money.
  • Approve weekly vendor invoices for payment. Check vendor costs against our purchase order.

A Project Engineer is charged with the responsibility of providing technical support to the Project Manager and Superintendent on a project to ensure safe projects and desirable outcomes for our Clients and Company. Since nearly all of our work is negotiated with repeat and referral clients we must ensure that our projects are well planned whether they are small or large.

General responsibilities include:

* Act as the primary point of contact with the Project Manager or Senior Project Manager to ensure work is completed in conformance with project drawings and specifications.
* Assist with pre-construction tasks.
* Coordinate project documents (RFI's, submittals, drawings, etc...), and monitor timely turn-around on these same items.
* Review submittals making sure they are accurately reviewed and coordinated, & materials are being procured in conformance with the project schedule.
* Identify any missing information from construction documents and work through those differences with project team members (Owners, Calcon, subcontractors, Architects).
* Aid in the preparation of subcontracts / purchase agreements for projects.
* Coordinate subcontractors' work schedules with the project Superintendent.
* Monitor project safety requirements.
* Perform project closeout in conformance with the contract and to the Owners satisfaction.
* Foresee potential problems and organize the team to avoid/resolve issues before they impact the project(s).
* Resolve common project problems to maintain good business relationships and outcomes for Calcon.
* Assist during preconstruction and estimating. Duties to include quantity take-offs and bid leveling
* Assist with project schedule and associated schedule updates in conjunction with the project superintendent.

Qualifications:

* B.S. degree in Engineering, Construction Management with 1-2 years' experience.
* Intern experience required
* Solid computer skills; Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and scheduling software.
* Verifiable work references demonstrating exceptional skills and achievements including:
* High level of professionalism; Dependable, results-focused and ethical

The Estimator position is responsible for estimating and providing oversight for all phases of industrial construction projects, including coordinating employees, subcontractors, materials, equipment, while ensuring that specifications are being followed, and work is performed within quality standards as well as on schedule and within budget.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities


Reviews proposal specifications and drawings, attend pre-bid meetings, etc. to determine scope of work and required contents of estimates.


Prepares estimates by calculating complete takeoff of scopes of work and soliciting pricing from qualified vendors and subcontractors.


Develops and maintains a thorough understanding of the provisions and requirements of all contract documents, including plans, specifications, owner’s contract, subcontracts and purchase orders.


Interfaces with the client as his primary contact; receiving and communicating initial project setup information and periodic project status, writing significant project related correspondence, and representing the Company in meetings all interested parties.


Organizes and executes the project safety compliance program within the guidelines of company policies. Initiate project safety meetings for on-site supervisors and labor force.


Develops and maintains a thorough understanding of the provisions and requirements of all contract documents, including plans, specifications, owner’s contract, subcontracts and purchase orders.


Organizes and plans the execution of physical work.


Develops the project schedules and directs its long-term planning and execution.


Prepares quotes and negotiates contract changes with the General Manager’s guidance.


Communicates/coordinates schedules and plans with subcontractors and vendors.


Maintains open communication with all other support and business units involved with the project.


Maintains an open line of communication with the local union officials.


Recognizes on-site activities which may impede project progress or jeopardize compliance to project/contract requirements.


Prepares and submits related informational documents to the client or other responsible parties and implements corrective measures.


Maintains strict control of the project budget for each work activity. Reports monthly on the progress and current profitability of the project.


Writes subcontracts and purchase orders for field generated purchases and contracts. Reviews and approves related subcontractor and vendor invoices and change requests.


Promotes goodwill with clients, subcontractors, engineers etc., to facilitate construction activities and future repeat business.


Supervises the project activities of the on-site project engineer, field superintendents and other field resources.


Participates in bidding, pre-construction services, budgeting and Continuous Improvement Programs.



Required Skills


Proficient with Microsoft Office products and the ability to become familiar with the various types of construction centric software for estimating, scheduling and project management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities


Supervises and coordinates work of the operation’s estimating team performing quantity take-offs on self-perform work, subcontracted work and solicitation of material and rental quotes.


Assembles complete estimate from estimators into one document and single bid number for bidding purposes.


Develops scope for bid packages after reading, reviewing, and studying construction documents (specifications, plans, addendums, RFIs) for the purpose of understanding the design intent and constructability of the project.


Attends pre-bid meetings, etc. to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate.


Prepares estimates by calculating complete takeoff of scope of work and soliciting pricing from qualified vendors and subcontractors.


Prepares and assembles other information to be submitted with the proposal, such as project organization chart, personnel resumes, unit prices, corporate safety information, price breakouts, quantities, schedules and insurance information.


Maintains files of working documents as back-up for the estimate, including current information on prices from suppliers through direct contact, sales brochures, price lists, etc.


Supports other Estimating Unit personnel as required through assistance with computer work, preparation of one or more discipline estimates, etc.


Researches, negotiates and prepares purchase orders and subcontract for awarded projects, including obtaining the necessary insurance requirements.


Prepares internal job setup documentation, including Award of Contract form, code of accounts, quantity sheet and copy estimate file.


Participates in pre-job meeting with project management personnel.


Serves as a liaison to ensure bidding Subcontractors and Suppliers fully understand the scope of work, specifications, schedule requirements, work conditions and other project parameters.



Skills


Advanced project estimator skills that include performing engineering calculations and being conversant in engineering nomenclature to effectively communicate with project team members, clients, subcontractors, and vendors. Ability to offer constructability ideas to effectively reduce costs to customers associated with the project, and position Company in favorable standing on bid submissions.


Experience preparing detailed conceptual cost estimates.


Experience in writing and negotiating subcontracts.


Knowledge and understanding of unit costs and the factors that affect construction costs.
