CNC & Tooling Machining Opportunities: Union Positions
Location: Kulpsville, PA
Shifts Available:
- 2nd Shift: Typically 2:30 PM-11:00 PM (varies by department)
- 3rd Shift: Typically 10:30 PM-7:00 AM (varies by department)
CNC Lathe Machinist - 2nd & 3rd Shift
- Perform lathe machining from customer/GT drawings with minimal supervision.
- Edit and generate machine code; utilize subprograms and edge-break calculations.
- Troubleshoot issues, make rapid adjustments, and run multiple lathes concurrently.
- Inspect with OGP, Keyence, optical comparator, and other metrology.
- Preferred: thermoplastic machining (PBI, PEEK/ARLON, nylon, acetal, UHMWPE, PTFE).
CNC Mill Machinist - 2nd Shift
- Set up and run CNC machining centers; support semi-auto/manual machines and Prototrak lathes.
- Edit programs and run more complex geometries (grooves, notches, deep pockets).
- Machine thermoplastics and metals.
- Assist with programming, first articles, and metrology.
- Rotate across milling equipment as needed.
- Contribute updated setup info for CNC programming documentation.
Toolmaker - 2nd Shift
- Build, repair, and maintain molds, dies, fixtures, gauges, cutting tools, cores/sleeves, and elastomer tooling.
- Read G-code and operate CNC, manual, and wire EDM equipment.
- Perform precision toolroom work: polishing, refinish, flat grinding, thread repair, aligning/diagnosing interlocks, and ensuring form/fit/function.
- Lead 5S activities; mentor Tool Maintenance Machinists.
- Provide design feedback to Tool Designers to improve manufacturability.
Composites CNC Machinist - 3rd Shift
- Set up and run 5-axis CNC machines to produce complex and prototype components.
- Perform program downloads, fixture setup, offset adjustments, and program edits at the machine.
- Interpret and apply GD&T.
- Complete first articles and all dimensional inspection using CMM/OGP and other devices.
- Degate, finish, and visually inspect composite parts.
Experience Requirements by Role
CNC Lathe Machinist: Minimum 1 year of CNC lathe experience in production (setup, troubleshooting, NC program editing).
CNC Mill Machinist: Minimum 3 years of CNC machining center experience (setup, troubleshooting, NC program knowledge).
Toolmaker: Minimum 2 years of tooling experience
Composites CNC Machinist: Experience with 5-axis CNC machining and GD&T; composite machining preferred.

The Washroom Operator is responsible for safely and accurately loading and unloading customer garments and bulk products into industrial washers and dryers using washroom equipment to set appropriate wash and dry parameters based on product type. The Washroom Operator coordinates transfers between washers and dryers and monitors the proper functioning of washroom equipment. JOB SUMMARY:
The Maintenance Technician III supports production operations by performing preventative electrical/mechanical maintenance, troubleshoots and repairs production equipment, and performs repairs and maintenance of facility. Completes preventive maintenance and general maintenance in proper working order while abiding by all specified rules and regulations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Performing troubleshooting and repair on electrical/electronic, hydraulic, pneumatic mechanical systems.
- Analyzing, troubleshooting, and repairing equipment. Assist with the service and repairing of more complex equipment.
- Ability to repair all electrical wiring, electronic and electrical equipment (24 to 480 Volts)

What You Will Do:
Our Pratt & Whitney Middletown, CT facility has several exciting opportunities for a Production Machinist available on 3rd shift.
3rd shift hours are Monday through Friday from approximately 11:00 pm to 7:00 am.
In this role, you will setup and operate one machine tool or process equipment type and operate more than one unrelated machine tool or process equipment types within an assigned area to produce precision turbine engine parts. You will perform work where methods, procedures and processes are well developed and the required tooling, gaging and fixturing are provided.
Under the direction of leader/supervisor, work from verbal and written instructions, operation sheets, drawings and other pertinent information. Following established methods and procedures, use manual or numerically controlled machine tools such as milling, boring, grinding, turning, broaching and shaping machines to achieve the required dimensional specifications. Recognize indications of dull or damaged cutting tools and replace as needed.
Perform bench, assembly and surface finishing operations such as deburring, blending, trimming and fitting, using a variety of hand and power tools. Follow prescribed methods and procedures to perform drilling, riveting and bonding operations to assemble various details in producing a finished part. Operate part-marking equipment.
Use a variety of media, dry or liquid, to perform cleaning or part preparation and finishing operations. Operate tumbling, grit blast, shot peen, buffing and polishing equipment, wash machines and dip tanks for part surface conditioning. Apply masking as required. Perform applications of anti-gall and polymite coatings utilizing dry bake ovens to cure.
Utilize a variety of fixed or variable measuring instruments to check dimensions and part features. Operate OpCert and other computer–based systems to retrieve and store information and records.
Perform routine servicing throughout assigned area following specified procedures and written instructions, such as operators’ checklist, for upkeep and to assure equipment operates properly.
May be required to train for, obtain and maintain licenses, operator permits and certifications within assigned area.

What You Will Do:
- Production Machining
- Capable of set-ups, inspections, blueprint reading, and production processes.
- Set up machines to perform operations within its capability by positioning, aligning, securing work, utilizing, and adapting appropriate tools.
- Demonstrate the analytical skills that are necessary for machine adjustments and performing the machining process.
- Demonstrate proper use of inspection equipment including indicators, micrometers, calipers, and surface plates.
- Inspect and certify own work.
- Work independent with minimal support for problem solving.
- Upkeep of production equipment.
- Perform daily, quarterly, annual PM on equipment.
Qualifications You Must Have:
- Typically a HS diploma with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
- The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.

Qualifications We Prefer:
- Machinist Technical School Certificate/Diploma.
- 2+ years of CNC Mill/Lathe experience.

The hourly range for this role is $21.38 - $40.10. The hourly range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
