Job Description

This is a full-time on-site role for a Vascular Technologist at Apex Heart & Vascular Center. The Vascular Technologist will be responsible for performing diagnostic vascular ultrasound examinations (Cerebrovascular, Upper and Lower extremity Arterial evaluation, Upper and Lower extremity venous evaluation for DVT and reflux - (standing position - including iliac. veins), ABI/PVR, Digital Plethysmography, Pre-op vein mapping (upper & lower extremity), pre-op and post-op evaluation of stents) along with assisting physicians with procedures, maintaining patient records, and ensuring the accuracy of test results.

Overview
The Heart & Vascular Clinic Operations Director provides strategic and operational leadership for ambulatory services across the Cardiology (general & invasive), Electrophysiology (EP), Vascular, and Interventional Radiology (IR) clinics. This role ensures clinical operations deliver patient centered care that focuses on access, growth, quality outcomes and patient experience. The Director partners closely with appropriate stakeholders to optimize the continuum from referral to procedure to follow up.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership & Access
  • Lead day to day operations for multi site Heart & Vascular clinics, including Cardiology (general and invasive consults), EP, Vascular, and IR ambulatory pathways.
  • Assumes 24-hour responsibility for assigned areas of operations.
  • Own access and capacity management: templates, scheduling rules, slot utilization, referral triage, and wait time reduction for new and follow up patients.
  • Standardize clinic workflows (check in, rooming, testing coordination, care transitions) and implement Lean process improvements to reduce lead time and waste.
  • Coordinate pre procedure workups and clearance for invasive cardiology, EP, vascular, and IR procedures; align with cath/EP/IR lab schedules and post procedure follow ups.
  • Oversee clinic staffing, daily huddles, visual management, and escalation protocols to ensure safe and reliable operations.
Quality, Safety & Compliance
  • Monitor and improve clinical quality measures (e.g., guideline-directed therapy adherence, anticoagulation management, device follow-up, vascular wound outcomes).

  • Partner with physician and nursing leaders on safety event reviews, root cause analyses (RCA), and action plans.

  • Promote physician satisfaction in clinical areas by rounding on providers and developing action plans to address any areas for improvement.

  • Recruit, develop, and retain high-performing teams (RNs, MAs, device techs, schedulers, access reps, RN navigators) while setting clear expectations.

Job Summary and Qualifications

Position Details: 

  • Self/preferential scheduling posted four weeks in advance for you to have predictability in your schedule 
  • Culture of mutual respect and collaboration among all surgical staff 
  • Continuous investment in equipment including surgical instruments, devices and patient positioning for you to do your best work with patient safety and workflow efficiency in the Operating Room 
  • Rounding with unit leaders, including charge nurses, to ensure your voice is heard on suggestions for patient care and surgical workflow improvement 
  • On-call is required during select non-business hours 

What you will do in this role: 

  • Evaluate patients prior to surgery 
  • Provide patient and family education surrounding the procedure and peri-operative process
  • Assume responsibility for patient preparation, including intravenous therapy, preoperative medications, and surgical site verification 
  • Participate in surgical site verification, including briefing, time out, debriefing, and universal protocols, according to hospital policy 
  • Recognize and respond to patient emergencies 
  • Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care while managing evidence-based practices and continuous improvement initiatives 
  • Be an integral member of a dynamic interdisciplinary team – consisting of the provider(s), surgeons, surgical technologists and more 
  • Consistently apply the nursing process, critical thinking skills, scientific judgment, technical skills and leadership to independently deliver safe nursing care to patients
  • Assess patient condition, monitor throughout your shift, and document changes in patient condition along with the care provided thoroughly 
  • Educate patients and families/caregivers about the patient’s medical condition, treatment and follow-up measures 
What qualifications you will need:


  • Advanced Cardiac Life Spt must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • PALS Pediatric Adv Life Supt must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date

  • Minimum of 2–3 years of recent acute care nursing experience; experience in cardiac, vascular, telemetry, or critical care strongly preferred.
