Basic Qualifications: A valid Oregon Manufacturing Plant Journeyman License or higher, or the ability to obtain a license prior to date of hire, is required for this position. BHE GT&S has an exciting opportunity as an Instrument & Control Technician/Sr. Instrument & Control Technician supporting our North Summit Station in Hopwood, PA.
RESPONSIBILITIES
This role installs maintains and troubleshoots instrumentation control circuits and equipment related to natural gas processes such as the compression, dehydration, measurement, transmission and storage of natural gas.
- Installation includes mounting wiring connecting testing configuring and programming instruments and devices.
- Maintenance includes routine calibration and functional testing of process instruments and devices documentation of calibration data collected during inspections utilizing the instrument inspection monitoring system verification of data communication systems that provide real time process and alarm information to the facility control center.

Engineered Vision is dedicated to improving how factory automation projects are implemented through transparency, quality, and speed.
Duties:
- Perform machine vision feasibility testing in our lab to validate inspection concepts and system performance
- Size and select cameras, lenses, and lighting for vision inspection applications
- Develop and program machine vision systems (primarily Keyence)
- Integrate vision systems with robots, PLCs, and motion control systems
- Program and support PLC controls systems (primarily Allen Bradley ladder logic)
- Assist with controls debugging and automation system integration
- Support machine builds, testing, and troubleshooting in the shop
- Assist with system commissioning and startup at customer facilities
- Create and maintain vision documentation, feasibility reports, and technical documentation
- Collaborate with mechanical and electrical engineers to optimize inspection and automation performance
- Deploy systems at customer facilities and perform service work
- Travel up to 15% (mostly within 250 miles of Columbus, Ohio)
Required Qualifications:
- US Citizenship Required (we work on Government Projects – Green Card will not be acceptable)
- Must live in the Columbus, Ohio area
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field
- Experience performing machine vision feasibility testing and inspection development
- 2+ years experience working in industrial automation including: selecting vision cameras/lenses/lights, feasibility testing, and vision programing
- Ability to troubleshoot and optimize automation systems in real-world manufacturing environments
- Strong documentation and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5+ years experience working in industrial automation selecting vision cameras, lenses, and lighting
- 2+ years experience with machine vision programming of Keyence Machine Vision Cameras
- 2+ years experience working with a custom machine builder as a controls engineer
- Experience integrating vision with robots and PLC systems
- Experience with industrial lighting design and lens selection
- Customer run-off and field troubleshooting experience
- Ability to troubleshoot and optimize automation systems in real-world manufacturing environments

What you'll do...
* Ensure adherence and compliance to the Ford Production System (FPS) Key Unifying Processes (KUP)
* Understand and consistently apply standard manufacturing operating systems and principles.
* Enforce compliance with Safety Operating System practices to achieve zero injuries.
* Ensure compliance with Quality Operating System practices to achieve zero defects.
* Use Andon data to prioritize efforts to achieve 100% flow.
* Identify and implement Controls Best Practice; launch Enablers, Training, and Change Control, etc.
* Liaison with IT on IT / Controls interface issues
* Drawing approvals and updates, Hydraulic, Pneumatic, Electrical
* Monitor use of Structured software specification, organize training for OEM's where required.
* Issue resolution during machine build, installation, and steady state production.
* Troubleshoot and resolve production-related downtime (i.e. PLC programs, HMI Screens, etc.)
* Setup and maintenance of industrial bar code scanners and printers
* Run-off equipment per Ford specifications at supplier and plant to validate capability and robustness including safety.
* Ensure production systems meet objectives through Process Design and FMEAs
* Work with plant and Manufacturing Engineering personnel with appropriate timing and installation documentation, to ensure efficient/timely installation and validation.
* Ensure the identification and capture of lessons learned along with their application to new programs, as well as the impact to existing strategies and standards.
* Troubleshoot PLC, robot, and other automation problems.
* Update program backups for automation
* Program new installations of vision, fastening, dispense, leak test, electrical test, gantry and conveyor systems.
* Reprogram automation for engineering changes and improvements.
You'll Have...
* Engineering Degree or 4+ years controls engineering experience in an automated manufacturing environment
* Fundamental Working Knowledge of Industrial Electronics, PLC Logic, and Controls
* Ability to demonstrate leadership behaviors combined with outstanding interpersonal, team building, leadership, and communication skills.
* Capability to learn, use, and troubleshoot new software and hardware systems to solve manufacturing problems that users are facing.
* 2+ years' experience with manufacturing
* 2+ years' networking and communication protocols experience
* 2+ years' Experience with PLC (Siemens/Allen-Bradley), HMI, VFD, Profinet, AutoCAD, C and RSLOGIX software and systems.
