The Maintenance Electrician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems and automated equipment throughout the manufacturing complex to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations. In a manufacturing environment, this role plays a critical part in minimizing downtime, supporting production efficiency, and maintaining compliance with safety and electrical standards. The Maintenance Electrician works closely with maintenance and production teams to diagnose electrical issues, support preventive maintenance programs, and ensure proper operation of motors, controls, and automated systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair electrical systems on production equipment, conveyors, motors, pumps, and automated machinery.
• Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, circuits, panels, and control systems throughout the manufacturing complex.
• Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on electrical equipment to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
• Troubleshoot and support PLCs, sensors, motor controls, variable frequency drives (VFDs), and automated systems.
• Interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals to support equipment repair and installation.
• Assist with installation, commissioning, and modification of new equipment and production lines.

• Planning, prioritizing, assigning, supervising, reviewing and participating in all tasks related to the maintenance of PLCs, automated equipment and facility maintenance in Solon.

• Prepares work schedules, assigns work and oversees the work product while minimizing overtime and call-in hours. Monitors operating and outage reports to ensure performance targets are met.

• Leads process documentation and development of policies and procedures

• Delivers day-to-day operational objectives through the supervision of a team of skilled maintenance technicians and/or reliability engineers. Trains, coaches, counsels and manages performance of direct reports.

• Coordinates training sessions in facility maintenance, safety procedures, and methods, enforces sound safety and housekeeping practices

• Responsibly handles emergency situations or after-hours calls for repair and maintenance

• Manages the program for inspection of mechanical integrity, change control, fire suppression and environmental control.

• Arranges for and manages appropriate third-party contractor support as needed.

• Interacts with customers, technicians and vendors to understand and communicate process specifications with engineering and operations.

• Provide operational support by managing the installation, start-up and validation of new process equipment and systems.

• Schedules and assists in developing plans for the installation, movement, repair of equipment and utilities within the building.

• Monitors spending to ensure operating within that budget with regard to the expenses for maintenance supplies, operating supplies, tools and personnel.

• Manages the maintenance of the building, grounds, equipment, and plant facilities, including elevators and fire alarms.

• Responsible for routine manufacturing equipment set-ups and changes/purchases as required.

• Implements and maintains appropriate process controls and records consistent with cGMP and ISO regulations.

• Order, re-stock and maintain the inventory of spare parts, consumables, tools and miscellaneous supplies. Maintain other department equipment as needed.

• Develops corrective/preventive action plans as prompted by internal and external quality data.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

The Associate Maintenance Manager will be responsible for the safe maintenance, repair or replacement of plant equipment and systems, to ensure maximum production quantity and quality, while supporting the policies, goals, and objectives of the Company. This position will partner with the Maintenance Manager to manage the plant maintenance program based on best practices, with an emphasis on the planning/scheduling of preventive, and predictive maintenance to improve equipment reliability by reducing machine downtime and unscheduled maintenance.

The Associate Maintenance Manager will partner with the Maintenance Manager to manage maintenance employees on assigned shifts to ensure the effective delivery of maintenance services and support production. This includes planning, assigning, and directing work, addressing product and employee complaints and resolving problems. The Associate Maintenance Manager will carry out managerial responsibilities in accordance with Company policies, OSHA regulations and applicable laws.

• Manage, train, and develop maintenance team members?through mentoring/coaching and coordination of individual developmental plans. Partners with HR on employee relations issues.
• Communicate directly with the operations and quality teams to coordinate maintenance and repair work in process areas.
• Partners with site leadership team to reduce expenses which include labor, shrink, ingredients, packaging, supplies, inventory, maintenance and overhead to acceptable levels.
• Drives efficiency improvements by engaging maintenance team members, analyzing maintenance schedule of operations, key metrics and processes.
• Manages production downtime reports, determines opportunities and creates an action plan to increase efficiencies.

Job Overview:

This position performs installation, maintenance, and repairs of computer driven electro-mechanical production equipment, ensuring that all related quality documentation is executed, while reviewing maintenance procedures for effectiveness.

Job Responsibilities and Essential Duties:

* Maintenance and repair of computer driven electro-mechanical manufacturing equipment in support of medical device production.

o Computer driven systems include proportional-integral-derivative (PID) operating controllers, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), and Human Machine Interface (HMI) automation.

o Sub-systems and components include electric drives, motors, electrical wiring, hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical panels, relays, printed circuit board circuitry, vacuum, and compressed air.

* Respond to emergency repair requests through troubleshooting, diagnosis, resumption of operation, and electronic documentation.

* Execute preventative/scheduled maintenance including planning of materials, parts, training, and other requirements to ensure work is executed in an efficient and timely manner.

* Document all work planned and performed in the computerized maintenance management system.

* Evaluate operation of equipment and instruments to conduct on-line adjustments. * Evaluate, quote, and order necessary replacement equipment, tools, and fixtures. * May develop or revise documents and procedures.

Minimum Requirements :

* A high school diploma or equivalent is required. An associate degree or equivalent years of experience in Engineering, Science or related technical field is preferred

* 1-3 years of technician experience in a manufacturing environment is required; experience working in medical device manufacturing or other FDA regulated industry preferred.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :

* Ability to read wiring diagrams, schematics, and plumbing diagrams to expertly troubleshoot electro-mechanical equipment, electric drives, motors, basic wiring, hydraulics, and pneumatics is required.

* Working knowledge of flow controls, valve selection, and pressure regulation.

* Must demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills.

* Must be well organized and demonstrate the ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks and priorities.

* Must be flexible and demonstrate the ability to take initiative.

* Working knowledge of equipment powered by 120, 208/230, and 480VAC electrical voltage is required.

* Experience with PLC/HMI and MS-DOS programming languages is preferred.

* Proficiency with Microsoft Office products such as Word and Excel or equivalent software applications is preferred.

The pay for this role is a minimum of $25 per hour ($52k/yr) and a maximum of $33 per hour ($68,640/yr).

This opportunity is in Woodburn, Indiana in our BF Goodrich tire plant. Woodburn is a small town located about 30 mins east of Fort Wayne, IN. Fort Wayne is the cultural and economic center of northeastern Indiana and the second largest city in Indiana. Established in 1961, our plant makes passenger and light truck tires.

Michelin has an immediate opening for an Electrical / Automation Engineer to lead, design, and implement electrical and automation solutions to improve our performance in safety, quality, productivity, delivery, cost, and innovation. Michelin / BFG is a global tire manufacturing company in the middle of an exciting digital transformation, with a vision of factory of the future using advanced robotic technology and data-driven engineering solutions. We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Automation Engineer to join our BFG Manufacturing Engineering team near Fort Wayne, Indiana. As an Automation Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing and implementing automation solutions that drive efficiency and productivity across our manufacturing operations. You will be responsible for leading projects from conception to completion, collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop innovative solutions that leverage advanced technologies such as smart material handling, robotics, AGV, ASRS, vision systems, machine learning and artificial intelligence.

WHAT WILL YOU DO

• Conduct pre-studies, prototypes, and pilots to capture business requirements and determine the best solutions in terms of costs/benefits, deadlines, risks, and functional capabilities.
• Design, build, and lead implementation projects to improve plant performance by replacing outdated systems, improving existing equipment, or adding new innovations to make progress.
• Implement and monitor actions necessary to mitigate risks (calculations, simulations, tests, etc.)
• Implement best practices for automation design and development, including worldwide sharing of best practices.
• Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers, vendors and contractors.
• Stay up-to-date with emerging trends and technologies in automation.
• Provide detailed electrical design and automation programming for assigned projects.
• Provide estimates and technical schedules for all phases of process equipment addition, replacement or upgrade.
• Provide backup support and training to plant maintenance teams on new automation systems that they implement.

Additional for Senior Level

• Start to finish technical Project Management including risk, schedule, budget, and resources.
• Lead/Participate in system approvals, qualification, and validation of industrial robustness.
• Manage change requests, approvals, and change testing.
• Assist local technicians in troubleshooting and root cause analysis as needed.
• Interface with internal company support groups to accomplish objectives and provide contract engineering management and direction when needed.

WHAT WILL YOU BRING

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, or related field, or equivalent technical experience.
• Ability to set and achieve goals with minimum supervision.
• Success in working with other people or a team to meet a common objective.
• Developed/implemented team or group project plans that met or exceeded expectations.
• Demonstrated attention to detail and data accuracy in previous work.
• Experience with electrical design standards and able to complete controls systems designs using standard CAD design tools.
• Knowledge of PLC programming standards & programming software, including GRAFCET, Ladder Logic, and Structured Text. Specific experience with Rockwell / Allen Bradley is a must, with Siemens being a plus.
• Experienced with controls systems network interfaces and various protocols for communications between devices including computer system databases.
• Experienced with Variable Frequency drives and Motion Control technologies. Specific experience with Rockwell, Siemens and Control Techniques is a plus.
• Experienced with HMI configuration, programming, and communication. Specific experience with Rockwell is a plus.
• Experience with electrical design standards and ability to complete power and controls system designs using standard CAD design tools.

Additional for Senior Level

• Minimum 2-5 years' experience in a similar role or 5-7 years in a manufacturing maintenance area.
• Able to prioritize and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
• Ability to work well under pressure and handle strict deadlines.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation for automation solutions.
• Analyze and troubleshoot complex technical issues related to automation solutions.
• Ability to mentor and train junior engineers
• Proven experience in project management, from conception to completion
• Strong understanding of procurement, installation, commissioning, and programming of automation systems
• Strong experience with PLC programming
• Vision System configuration and interface for width measurement applications and defect detection applications is preferred, but not required. Specific experience with Cognex, Keyence, Adept, Bytewise, Gocator is a plus.
• Robotic experience, configuration or knowledge is preferred, but not required. Specific experience with Fanuc or Yaskawa is a plus.
• Experience with advanced robotic technologies such as AGV, ASRS, vision systems, machine learning and artificial intelligence
