The Environmental Service Worker maintains environmental and infection control standards within the facility.
The position performs a variety of general cleaning tasks to maintain patient rooms, offices, hallways and other assigned areas of the facility.
Essential duties include: Collects dirty linens from units; uses industrial washer and dryer to wash hospital linens according to hospital standards.
Operates mechanical floor cleaners, buffers, vacuums, snow blowers, shampooers and related environmental service equipment.
Wet-mops rooms, halls and other areas; shampoos rugs and furniture.
Cleans vents, fan fixtures, top of windows, doorframes and other high areas using a ladder.
Moves furniture and other heavy objects as required.
Performs terminal cleaning procedures of patient rooms and prepares rooms for new occupants; follows isolation procedures in isolation rooms.
Makes supply packs for departments and puts linen stacks in carts for distribution.
Keeps records of linen distribution by department; checks floor linens supplies and lists linen use by department.
Shovels snow at all exits and ramps.
Assists with evacuations when needed.

Under general supervision, the incumbent of this class is a member of the senior leadership team in the Department of Environmental Facilities and is responsible for planning, implementing and promoting the County’s Solid Waste Management Plan, including programs associated with the County transfer stations, Material Recovery Facility, Household-Material Recovery Facility, and food waste recycling. Responsibility involves monitoring these projects to ensure compliance with Federal, State and local environmental regulations and standards. Supervision is exercised over professional and support staff, and administrative oversight over compliance efforts. Does related work as required.
Requirements:
A Master’s degree in Environmental Science or closely related field, or a Juris Doctorate; and ten years professional experience in solid waste, legal or operational issues, two years of which must have involved the management and coordination of environmental projects
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Possess and maintain a valid license to operate a motor vehicle in the State of New York.
NOTES
1. The number of years of experience required in the minimum qualifications is based upon the presumption of full-time employment. Part-time experience will be prorated based on a 35 hour workweek.
2. Verified and documented volunteer (unpaid) experience will only be credited when specifically allowed by the job description or examination announcement

Keep Tampa Bay Beautiful (KTBB) is seeking a Projects & Education Coordinator to lead community cleanup events, corporate volunteer projects, and environmental education initiatives throughout the Tampa Bay area.
This role plays an important part in connecting volunteers, schools, and community partners to hands-on opportunities that support litter prevention, beautification, and environmental stewardship.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and lead volunteer events, including the Hillsborough River & Coastal Cleanup, Hallo-Clean, Volun-Tines Cleanup, After the 4th of July Cleanup, Storm Drain Art Projects, and along with the Environmental Projects manager coordinate corporate volunteer cleanups.
- Plan and host our neighborhood cleanup series to engage new volunteers and community groups.
- Track and report volunteer hours, debris collected, and event participation metrics.
- Assist with event logistics, supplies, equipment management, and program reporting
- Share updates and promote volunteer opportunities, events, and environmental initiatives through social media and community platforms.
- Support and help deliver environmental education and outreach programs with schools, youth organizations, tabling events and community partners.
Qualifications
- Experience coordinating events, volunteers, or community programs
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work outdoors and occasionally evenings or weekends for events
- Preferred: Associate’s (AA) or Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, sustainability, education, nonprofit management, or a related field, or equivalent work experience
