Position description

Lecturer - Operations and Information Technology Management - Haas School of Business



The Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley is generating an applicant pool of qualified temporary instructors to teach courses in Operations and Information Technology Management as a lecturer should an opening arise. The pool will remain in place for one year.



General Duties:

In addition to teaching responsibilities, general duties include:

* Holding office hours

* Assigning grades

* Advising students

* Preparing course materials.

Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

The minimum qualification to be an applicant is a Bachelor Degree or equivalent international degree at time of application.

A minimum of four years in the professional practice in relevant field to the course being taught.



Preferred qualifications

A minimum of 2 years' experience in the professional practice in the Operations and Information Technology Management field at a business, government or not-for-profit organization by start date. Higher education teaching experience and/or advanced degree by start date are preferred.

Maintenance and System Support (60%):

  • Serve as a subject matter expert for Integrated Risk Management tooling, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure effective system configuration, alignment with the Common Risk Framework and business strategy, and data quality. This will include development and administration activities within tools.

  • Take a consultative approach to create requirements documents for system builds or changes, empowering teams to develop solutions and internal documentation with guidance and knowledge transfer.

  • Act as a liaison between vendors and internal customers to identify requirements and implement necessary system changes.

  • Act as a change agent for systems in our portfolio, enhancing capabilities to drive adoption, improve efficiency, and enhance user experience.

  • Provide assessment and impact analysis of feature releases and lead optimization projects to maximize system potential for business users.

  • Assist the Product Owner in developing the product roadmap, aligning capabilities with business objectives, and recommending improvements to streamline processes and enhance the end-user experience.

  • Serve as a technology lead to ensure the success, adoption and innovation of current and future technology solutions

Other duties:

  • Perform project management activities as needed to drive technology solutions that meet business outcomes. Manage small to medium sized projects. Drive decisions related to project planning, execution and closure. Assist with the research, selection, implementation and management and roll out of new technology solutions. Continually assesses business needs and implements solutions that will ensure customer expectations are met or exceeded by enhancing system capability and performance.   • Manage the requirements effort on small, less complex assignments. Apply the appropriate requirements techniques, tools and templates based on the Solution Delivery Approach (e.g., traditional or Agile), project complexity and size.

    • Develop and communicate the requirements plan.

    • Identify resources for elicitation, capture the business need, document elicitation results and confirm expressed stakeholder requirements and concerns.

    • Produce quality requirements which meet the business needs, objectives and acceptance criteria to be used for design, development, testing and user acceptance.

    • Manage the requirements approval, baseline, solution validation and change management activities.

    • Finalize and archive all requirements related documentation.

  • Responsible for providing leadership to all project stakeholders to coordinate decisions related to planning, development, design, testing and implementation of business solutions. Building professional excellence through education, training and certification and milestone qualifications

Helping to develop and deploy information systems, command and control and space systems
Serving as a key part of the Information Dominance Corps in its mission to gain a deep understanding of the inner workings of adversaries
Overseeing the work of Information Systems Technicians - Enlisted Sailors (no degree required) who serve as specialists in information technology

Work Environment

Information Professionals serve in challenging roles of increasing scope and responsibility both afloat and ashore. This could include:

Qualifications & Requirements

A degree from a four-year college or university is a minimum educational requirement to become a Commissioned Officer. Candidates seeking an Information Professional Officer position must have a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution in a technical field, preferably in one of following fields: Information Systems, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Operations, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, General Engineering.

All candidates must also be: U.S. citizens, willing to serve worldwide, eligible for a Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) security clearance and qualified for sea duty.

General qualifications may vary depending upon whether you're currently serving, whether you've served before or whether you've never served before.

Part-Time Opportunities

There are part-time opportunities available as an Information Professional Officer.

Serving part-time as a Navy Reserve Sailor, your duties will be carried out during your scheduled drilling and training periods. During monthly drilling, Information Professional Officers in the Navy Reserve typically work at a location close to their homes.

For annual training, Information Professional Officers may serve anywhere in the world, whether on a ship at sea or at bases and installations on shore.

Most of what you do in the Navy Reserve is considered training. The basic Navy Reserve commitment involves training a minimum of one weekend a month (referred to as drilling) and two weeks a year (referred to as Annual Training) - or the equivalent of that.

Position requires the ability to pass a drug/alcohol pre-screening; may require working competently with dangerous materials and in a dangerous environment, such as around or on rotating machinery, live electrical circuits, hazardous materials, high-pressure liquids and gas, and bot surfaces. During adverse weather, activities may require extensive after hours work or callback. This position is the subject matter expert in trading equities, derivatives (options, futures), and foreign exchange for not only our clients, but the goal is also to help clients develop their trading expertise and grow their portfolios by imparting the knowledge and supporting the tools these actively engaged clients use to make them a more sophisticated, successful self-directed investor. Representatives in this position will possess an advanced level of knowledge of trading equities, derivatives (options/futures), and foreign exchange. We grow business through asset gathering and product cross-sell while retaining assets through client confidence and loyalty. Together, we leverage industry knowledge and platform expertise to send well-positioned business leads to our partners in Retail Sales, Education and Trader Business Development. Additionaly, you'll influence and close business for Retails Sales associates by presenting self-directed active trader clients and prospects with industry standard for market understanding while attracting additional assets and business from our fully engaged clients, by meeting their service, education and trading resource needs.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Active Series 7, 63 licenses required.
  • Excellent communicative skills, both oral and written, and can succinctly explain complex topics with proper positioning, context, and accuracy.
  • 3+ years of experience servicing clients and an equivalent level of knowledge of securities industry.
  • Ability to educate clients and colleagues on complex concepts and to varying levels of expertise while displaying confidence, skill, and professionalism to resolve time-sensitive and possibly costly issues in a manner that strengthens the client relationship and mitigates risk for the firm.
  • Must have necessary sense of urgency and the ability to multi-task utilizing strong business judgment and prioritization skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Β 

  • Prior professional trader level of expertise in equities, futures, market structure and a detailed knowledge of the securities industry and capital markets is preferred.Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum two years of equity trading experience, derivatives trading, or other equivalent experience is preferred.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of industry, product availability, policies and procedures involving international client relationships.Β 
  • 9/10 License also preferred.

About the role - Mining Field Technical Services Representative (Swayzee, IN, USA)

We are excited to announce a new opportunity for a Mining Field Technical Services Representative within our Orica USA team focused on designing and executing planned explosive blasts by determining correct products, precise quantities, and safe application methods. Ensures effective use of explosives in compliance with the Service Operations Manual to meet customer requirements at Orica-serviced locations.

Locations: Lebannon, Kokomo, LaFayette, Northern Indianapolis and Swayzee, INDIANA

This is a Field position with limited office time, with approx. 50% field activity.

What you will be doing

β€’ Build relationships with key clients, identifying opportunities for Orica's products and services.
β€’ Provide technical support and training on explosives and blasting applications for mining, quarry, and construction.
β€’ Support research, development, and marketing teams with your technical expertise.
β€’ Promote and implement Electronic Blasting Systems (EBS) and other advanced solutions.
β€’ Ensure compliance with safety, health, environmental, and regulatory standards.
β€’ Travel within Indiana and surrounding states (25-50%, mostly day trips, some overnights).

What We're Looking For

β€’ Technical Expertise: Experience in mining engineering, explosives, or related fields.
β€’ Sales & Client Focus: Proven ability to identify client needs and deliver tailored solutions.
