Working under the framework of Adient’s Continuous Improvement system, the Continuous Improvement Manager will assess current state performance, identify gaps, visualize and establish a plan to get to the future state, monitor progress and share/acquire best-in-class ideas and systems


Continuous Improvement Manager Typical Duties:

  • CI Manager will Identify gaps in Best Business Practice Metrics (BBP’s), and then work with all levels of the plant in establishing and executing a strategy for improving them
  • Assess the Current state of the plant’s Operations; Develop Future State vision and drive and monitor the implementation plan.
  • Coaches CI team, including Plant Staff, Lean Implementers, Black Belts, and Green Belts, to apply correct approach / DMAIC tools for improvement.
  • Establishes C.I. Profit Plan and subsequent Forecast goals; Drives team to achieve.
  • Ensures Process Owner involvement in SOW development and team leadership.
  • Responsible for IDP and succession planning for all C.I. resources, including Lean Implementers and Black Belts.
  • Responsible for developing a “pull” system to replace BBs and LIs with qualified “management-potential” personnel.
  • Using standard tracking and reporting systems, will prepare detailed plans, drive project performance, and assure timely completion and achievement of product / process quality, and savings goals.
  • Collaborate with leadership to develop a plant C.I. Roadmap, driving breakthrough or Best-in-Class performance that balances resources between internal plant efficiency and external customer-focused effectiveness projects through 1. Just Do It improvements, 2. Six Sigma projects, and 3. Lean Implementation projects.
  • Assists Process Owners in identifying barriers to project success and helps to drive changes when needed.
  • Document improvement process learning and shares best practices with other Black Belts.
  • Identifies and brings forward to Champion new project opportunities.
  • Assist Plant Manager in any strategic initiative that will help in compliance to standards, implementing new systems, and designing creative solutions that will continuously improve the plant.
  • Is accountable to deliver the plant annual CI goals
  • All other tasks as assigned


Continuous Improvement Manager Profile / Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree Preferred or Associates with Equivalent Additional Experience
  • 5-7 Years Experience in a CI / Quality Role with a few years of Supervisor Position
  • Has demonstrated high-level performance in current and previous positions.
  • Has shown initiative, the desire to drive change and is motivated to exceed expectations
  • Has solid leadership skills and able to manage both vertically and horizontally
  • Possesses basic statistical knowledge and the ability to apply statistics to product and process improvement projects.
  • Possesses basic computer skills (experience with spreadsheet applications would be very helpful).
  • Has sufficient experience within a company to be able to understand the organization and its business processes.
  • Has at least a certification as a Green Belt, and has received certification as a Lean Implementer. Black Belt is preferred
  • Has demonstrated effective interpersonal skills and the ability to exercise influence without authority.

Summary


The Director of Quality position has direct responsibility for the execution of Quality deliverables for their assigned Business Group. They will be responsible for Customer Interface, Craftsmanship and Warranty performance. Additional responsibilities include AQE, QE and QM staffing, training and performance reviews. Responsible for Supplier management and Quality performance.


Responsibilities:

  • Prepare a monthly assessment of all quality deliverables for each program within the BU areas. Mitigate the risk of any missed quality deliverables with the execution of appropriate corrective action plans and glide paths.
  • Review and approve Quality deliverables.
  • Actively participate in Program Reviews, and Phase Exit Reviews, as well as PSMC and SSO in alignment with program timing.
  • Function as the primary point of contact to the particular Customer for responding to quality issues, Potential Product Safety Concerns (PPSC), Quality Key measure performance and other “Customer Specific” initiatives. Develop key Customer relationships in the Supplier Quality Area.
  • Communicate Customer issues, Adient‘s performance in the eyes of the Customer, and unique Customer quality systems / procedures to the appropriate individuals within Adient, and assure that appropriate actions are taken. Work for improvement in or maintaining Green Customer Score Cards.
  • Ensure the successful implementation of Adient Quality Systems, and ensure continued certification to / complaints with IATF 16949, including customer specific requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement of Customer specific Warranty performance data. Ensure that the appropriate issues are identified, root cause determined and corrective actions implemented. Assure that known product quality concerns are addressed and improvement is measured on Glide path for Warranty.
  • Develop QE resource budgets and staffing needs. Participate in the interview process, and add resources, as they are needed.
  • Develop and execute Annual Development Plans, Performance Reviews, and succession plans for each AQE, QE and QM that is in the Business Unit.
  • Participate in the quoting process to ensure that the appropriate quality resources and objectives are considered prior to receiving the business award.
  • Ensure that all deliverables are completed on time and that any critical issues are identified and resolved in a timely manner.
  • Support maintaining AMS Level 3 in production plans and develop plan to progress to Level 5 in alignment with Continuous Improvement plans.


Perform job functions in accordance with set policies and procedures to ensure preservation of the Company Quality Policy.


Education:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in a technical area is required (or equivalent experience).
  • Specific education and training in Quality disciplines including (minimum) IATF 16949, VDA, Continuous Improvement, Total Quality Management, PPAP, FMEA, Control Plans, DOE, and SPC are also required.
  • People development and leadership experience is required.


Experience:

  • Advanced Quality Planning including familiarity with the AIAG Advanced Quality Planning and Control Plan standard, FMEA’s, PPAPs, Dimensional layouts, gage/fixture design, SPC, and Performance/Material testing.
  • Advanced statistical concepts, design of experiments, and problem solving methodology
  • Qualified as a Quality Systems auditor
  • Certified in Six Sigma is preferred
  • Professional Certification in Quality Engineering/Quality Management is preferred.
