Overview:

 

As a Registered Nurse (RN), the applicant will be integral in managing urgent, high-stress situations, collaborating closely with interdisciplinary teams to facilitate and implement immediate treatment plans. The RN will provide compassionate, client-centered care during critical moments, engaging thoughtfully with both clients and families. Additional responsibilities include coordinating transitions of care in high-pressure environments and ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations, guidelines, and safety protocols.

 

Essential Duties: 

 

  • Provides clinical assessment and problem identification, crisis interventions, documents significant interactions, and maintains clinical charts and other reporting data. 
  • Provides prescribed medical treatment and personal care services for clients.
  • Administers medication and then evaluates and monitors clients for medication side effects. 
  • Coordinates, consults, and problem solves medical care and intervention with other team members and providers.
  • Develops, implements, and maintains a medication administration system.
  • Will screen and evaluate lab reports and refer abnormalities to the provider.
  • Audits medications, destruction of medications and MARS according to state regulations.
  • Educates clients and consumers on medications.
  • Documents progress notes on therapy and medications and reports medication errors. 

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Unencumbered Colorado license as a registered nurse
  • Will train a new grad with strong interest in Behavioral Health and withdrawal management

 

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Colorado or Compact licensed nurse in good standing in state of licensure required
  • Registered Nurse License required
  • Valid Colorado driver’s license or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire and a clean driving record required
  • DORA license or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire required
  • Basic Life Support Certification, or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire


Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • 1-year experience in a behavioral health setting
  • Bilingual/bi-cultural preferred

Position Summary
The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) Fellowship will provide New Graduate Nurse Practitioners (or Nurse Practitioners new to the pediatric inpatient or subspecialty environment) with an in-depth clinical experience in a specialized pediatric setting. This nine-month, full-time APRN Fellowship will build competency through hands-on direct care experiences, didactic classes, simulation, shadowing opportunities, and presentations. APRN Fellows will train with physicians and Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) while integrating into a multidisciplinary care team. Fellows will be supported by a core group of APRN leaders, preceptors, and mentors committed to professional development and clinical excellence.

Neuroscience (inpatient with some outpatient learning)
The Neuroscience APRN Fellowship provides immersive training in the care of pediatric patients with neurological and neurosurgical conditions. Fellows will gain experience in the assessment and management of children with acute and chronic neurologic disorders while working closely with neurology, epilepsy, neuro-oncology, neurocritical care, and neurosurgery. Training emphasizes advanced clinical assessment, diagnostic reasoning, and collaborative management of complex neurologic conditions, while also fostering strong skills in family-centered care.

Developmental Medicine (outpatient)
The Developmental Medicine APRN Fellowship focuses on the specialized evaluation and care of children with neurodevelopmental and behavioral conditions from birth through young adulthood. Fellows will gain experience in comprehensive developmental assessments, diagnostic formulation, and multidisciplinary care planning for children with developmental delays, autism spectrum disorders, learning differences, and other behavioral health needs. The program emphasizes collaboration with psychologists, therapists, physicians, and community resources to support long-term developmental outcomes and family-centered care.

This APRN Fellowship also offers the unique opportunity to train across both Neurosciences and Developmental Medicine, leveraging the shared patient populations and strong interdisciplinary collaboration between these pediatric specialties.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide front-line care and coordination for pediatric patients, including assessment, diagnosis, pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions, and family-centered care.
  • Consult and collaborate with physicians, APPs, and interdisciplinary team members on assigned patients during daily rounds.
  • Conduct patient assessments including medical histories and physical examinations and assist in diagnosing medical and developmental conditions.
  • Manage therapeutic regimens for patients with acute and chronic conditions according to approved clinical guidelines.
  • Participate in research initiatives, quality improvement projects, and interdisciplinary communication to enhance patient and family care.
  • Developmental Medicine schedule: 40 hours, (5) 8’s no nights, no weekends
  • Neuroscience schedule: 40 hours, predominantly weekday days. Some inpatient areas will have occasional w/e rotation depending on the area in which you are orienting. Neurosurgery has a brief overnight rotation for their consult service.
Minimal Qualifications
Education
  • Graduate from an accredited MSN/NP or DNP program.
Experience
  • 3+ years RN/NP experience preferred.
  • Neuroscience: Pediatric, neuroscience or related NP clinical experience is a plus.
  • Developmental Medicine: Pediatric, developmental, behavioral health, psychology, education, or related field is a plus.
Licensure/Certification
  • Massachusetts NP license
  • MCSR and DEA upon hire
  • PNP or FNP Board Certification
  • BLS upon hire
