The Mechanical Engineering group in the Shipboard Effectors Department is currently searching for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to work on a multi-discipline team to support design and upgrades of Shipboard Effectors products and subsystems.

This is an onsite role and located in Tucson, AZ.

What You Will Do:

• Utilizing strong mechanical hardware design experience and knowledge with ruggedized structures, interconnects, cooling, and electronics integration

• Supporting all phases of programs from capture and concept development through production

• Developing technical solutions to a wide range of complex problems related to the entire product life cycle including proposal, design, manufacture, integration and test of electronics for multiple military programs

• Supervising the definitions of mechanical outline and construction details, component selection and specification, mechanical and assembly drawings, electrical/RF layout, and delivering the final technical data package

• Employing transition-to-production practices with the ability to lead a design release into production

• Tracking, reporting, and meeting cost, schedule, quality, and performance requirements for the finished product, including Earned Value (EV) management and Estimate at Complete (EAC) inputs

• Preparing proposal inputs on behalf of the product area

• Providing technical conscience, challenged with making sure the product and process meet appropriate standards and requirements while helping to remove roadblocks

• Working with minimal direction or supervision, while exercising considerable latitude in determining the technical objectives of the assignment while meeting cost, schedule, quality, and performance requirements for the finished product.

• Leading a small team of mechanical engineers when required

• Interacting frequently with senior personnel, occasionally including external customers, on significant technical matters often requiring coordination between organizations.

Qualifications You Must Have:

• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years experience.

• A minimum of eight (8) years of experience in the design of electronics packaging for military or aerospace or commercial applications

• Experience with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerances)

• The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance prior to the start date. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance 

Qualifications We Prefer:

• Experience with ANSI drawing standards and/or first order or structural analysis techniques.

• Experience with design to military standards

• Strong technical background with high technical aptitude

• Strong leadership skills and project management, sub contract management experience

• Experience with CREO (Pro/E) or similar 3D solid modeling software

• Cognizant of machine suppliers’ capabilities or have direct experience in a manufacturing and assembly support role for producibility

• Familiarity with the design and manufacturing processes of CCAs, mechanical/RF components, metal housings, structures, and electronics assemblies

• Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

• Very strong verbal and written communications and interpersonal skills when working with team members and customers

• Advanced degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Aerospace Engineering

SAFETY SPECIALIST

Rummel Construction, Inc. is seeking a Safety Specialist with a commitment to safety leadership and excellence. Safety Specialists are responsible for day-to-day implementation and management of the Safety, Health, and Environmental Compliance programs on construction and mining sites. You will work with Rummel’s project teams and subcontractors to increase safety awareness and improve safety practices. The Safety Specialist is in a safety sensitive position and may require substantial walking, sitting, and standing. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is also exposed to outside weather conditions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE

• Experience in the mining and/or construction industry
• Ability to work independently and as a team leader, exercising professional judgment and behavior
• A valid driver's license is a must
• Coordinate and participate in daily/weekly safety meetings and formal worksite inspections
• Conduct risk assessment and encourage preventative measures
• Monitor worksites frequently throughout the day to ensure compliance with Safety, Health, and Environmental Compliance programs
• Assist in jobsite incident/accident/injury investigations
• Assist in gathering statistical data
• Willing to travel as needed, including possible extended or long-term project assignments

Job Description & Skill Requirement:

Seeking an experienced Electrical Systems & Harness Design Engineer to support the development of harnesses on construction and mining equipment. This role will focus on both new product development. This position is to support electrical systems and wiring harness development

Design and develop electrical systems and wiring harnesses for new equipment programs and retrofit kits. Create electrical wiring harnesses, cable assemblies, and routing, including high/low voltage connectors

Integrate sensors, controllers, and harnesses into machine platforms using CAD, ensuring proper fit and function.

Develop routed electrical solutions that meet functional, environmental, and manufacturing requirements.

Collaborate closely with mechanical, systems, and manufacturing teams to ensure robust designs.

Gather and clarify technical requirements from stakeholders and translate them into executable work packages.

Serve as the onsite technical lead, coordinating execution and distributing work to an offshore engineering team.

Review and validate designs, drawings, and documentation produced by offshore resources.

Generate detailed design documentation, including Bills of Materials (BOMs), connector tables, and wiring specifications.

Support build, test, and validation activities as needed.

Ensure designs comply with applicable standards and best practices.

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related field.

Proven experience designing electrical systems and wiring harnesses

Experience supporting both new product development and retrofit programs.

Strong understanding of routed systems, sensors, and electrical integration on heavy equipment.

Strong communication skills and the ability to coordinate work across multiple locations.

Preferred:

Prior exposure to global engineering teams and offshore delivery models.

Proficiency in Crep for 3D modeling and wiring harness design, understanding of electrical schematics, and knowledge of EMC/EMI standards.

Familiarity with Creo CAD tools and harness design best practices.
