As an Assistant Federal Defender, you will provide legal representation to clients charged with federal offenses before federal magistrates and district courts in the Southern District of Indiana. Our typical caseload includes possession of guns and drugs, complex fraud, sex offenses, and immigration cases. You would carry an active caseload, visiting with your clients and their families, reviewing discovery, leading investigation, developing litigation strategies, drafting motions and briefs, and collaborating with the team here at IFCD. AFPD's may not engage in the private practice of law.
REQUIREMENTS:
This is an in-person position in Indianapolis. All applicants must have graduated from an accredited law school and be members in good standing of a state bar and eligible for immediate admission to the United States District Court for the Southern District of Indiana. Preference will be given to applicants with at least three years of experience in federal criminal law, but experience is not required. Applicants must have a demonstrated commitment to indigent criminal defense or public interest law, have excellent oral and written communication skills, excellent research skills, and absolutely must work well on a team. - Review Accounts for Suit: Analyze delinquent accounts to determine suitability for legal action.

- Obtain Judgments and Garnishments: Pursue legal avenues to obtain judgments and enforce collection through garnishments and other approved means.

Requirements
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Active license to practice law in Indiana AND Kentucky, or Illinois or other states.
- Preference is given to applicants licensed to practice law in multiple jurisdictions.
- Proven experience in collection or civil law litigation.
- Strong knowledge of debt collection laws, regulations, and legal procedures.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.

- Provision of exceptional primary care.
- Conduct office visits for routine and acute issues.

The typical pay range for this role is:
$87,035.00 - $187,460.00This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls.
