PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

CLINIC OPERATIONS:

PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

The registered professional nurse (CAP RN 1) position is an entry level designation into the Clinical Advancement Program for Registered Nurses. What You’ll Do


  • Assess, diagnose, and treat patients of all ages in an urgent care setting
  • Manage acute conditions, infections, and injuries
  • Perform minor procedures such as suturing, splinting, and incision & drainage
  • Conduct comprehensive physicals, including DOT and employment exams
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests (labs, X-rays, EKGs)
  • Counsel patients on care plans and preventive health strategies
  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation
  • Collaborate with supervising physicians and team members to ensure quality care

Who We’re Looking For


  • Certified Nurse Practitioner (ANCC or AANP) with an active state license or Certified Physician Assistant (NCCPA) with an active state license
  • 2+ years of experience in urgent care, family medicine, or emergency care
  • Skilled in urgent care procedures and comfortable in a fast-paced clinic
  • Excellent communication skills and a patient-centered mindset

- Administer medications and treatments accurately and document all care per facility policies and regulatory standards.
- Monitor residents’ health status, promptly report changes in condition, and collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team.
- Support and guide CNAs and other care staff to ensure high-quality daily care and adherence to best practices.
- Maintain thorough, timely documentation and uphold infection control, safety, and compliance protocols.

What You'll Need:

- High school education
- Active, unencumbered Massachusetts RN or LPN licensure
- Must hold a current CPR certification or be willing and able to obtain certification within a reasonable period following hire
- Demonstrate physical ability to stand, sit, walk, bend, squat, and lift/carry up to 20 pounds unassisted or 50 pounds with assistance
- Proficient in reading, writing, and following instructions in English

Key Responsibilities Perform comprehensive history and physical examinations for new admissions and existing inpatients Manage acute and chronic medical conditions in coordination with the supervising hospitalist Order and interpret diagnostic tests (labs, imaging, ECGs, etc.) based on scope of practice Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans Provide cross-coverage for inpatient units, addressing changes in patient status, medication adjustments, and care coordination Complete accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR) Qualifications Masters degree from an accredited NP or PA program Current state licensure as NP or PA National certification (ACNP, FNP, AGACNP, PA-C, etc., depending on organization requirements).
