Qualifications
- Masterβs degree in nursing
- National Certification in Advanced Practice and current CPR certification

Surgical Critical Care Lead Advanced Practitioner Role Scope
Backus Hospital's Surgical Critical Care Team is committed to creating an innovative patient centered delivery system that continuously improves quality of care.
- TheΒ Physician Assistant / Nurse Practitioner (APRN)Β providers are part of a multidisciplinary team that plans and delivers care for complex surgical patients including general surgery, trauma, vascular, thoracic, neurosurgery and other critical care patients as the service needs dictate.Β
- The Advanced Practice Provider works in collaboration with the attending surgical intensivist, the primary surgical admitting team and consultants.

SPECIAL SKILLS
CRNA's must have sharp concentration and focus, along with the ability to stay calm under stressful conditions. CRNAs must be able to communicate clearly and effectively with surgeons and the surgical support team, as well as with patients and their families. A calm and reassuring manner is one way to inspire trust in patients, who may be apprehensive about surgery, as well as the surgical team. Anesthetic patient management must be immediate and responsive. Flexibility and adaptability are required.
PHYSICAL DEMAND
A CRNA must be able to demonstrate intellectual-conceptual, integrative and quantitative abilities; skills in observation, communication and motor functions; and mature behavioral and social attributes. Sensory- CRNA must be able to detect and interpret changes in monitoring alarms and equipment. Functional vision, hearing. no impairment of sense of smell and tactile sensation must be adequate. CRNA must be able to observe a patient accurately at a distance and close.Communication-CRNA should be able to speak, hear and observe. Intellectual-Conceptual, Integrative and Quantitative Abilities-Abilities include measurement, calculation, reasoning, analysis and synthesis. Problem-solving, the critical skill demanded requires all of these intellectual abilities. CRNA should be able to comprehend 3-dimensional relationships and understand the spatial relationships. Weβre partnering with a school district in Providence County, RI to hire a dedicated Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) to support a kindergarten student during daily transportation.
This role involves riding the school bus with the student each morning and afternoon to ensure safety and provide nursing support for a child recently diagnosed with epilepsy who requires access to a rescue medication. The School Nurse (LPN/RN) plays a vital role in monitoring the studentβs health during transit and responding promptly to any medical needs.
Position Details
- Location: In-person, Providence County, RI.
- Schedule: Morning: 8:07 am β 8:45/8:50 am Afternoon: 3:00 pm β 3:43 pm.
- Frequency: Daily, morning and afternoon routes.
Responsibilities
- Ride the school bus with a kindergarten student each morning and afternoon.
- Monitor the studentβs health and safety during transportation.
- Administer rescue medication in accordance with prescribed care plans if needed.
- Observe for seizure activity and respond appropriately.
- Communicate any concerns or incidents to the school team and family
- Document care and incidents as required.
- Qualifications Active Rhode Island LPN or RN License (Required)
- Current CPR Certification (Required)
- Experience working with pediatric patients (preferred)
- Comfort and confidence supporting a student with epilepsy
- Strong communication and documentation skills

What Makes You Our Leadership All-Star:
- Proven success as an Assistant Director at a large school.
