Responsibilities:

1. Program Leadership & Strategic Growth

• Lead the regional expansion of ACHD services across MedStar’s hospitals and outpatient sites
• Develop strategic initiatives that ensure sustainability and national recognition

• Deliver and oversee evidence-based care in inpatient, outpatient, and transitional settings
• Establish and maintain ACHD clinical protocols in alignment with ACHA standards

• Lead a team of cardiologists, congenital heart surgeons, advanced practitioners, and allied health professionals
• Foster a high-performing, collaborative, and innovative culture

• Support ACHD fellowship and residency training programs
• Promote and lead clinical research, quality initiatives, and participation in national registries

• Maintain ACHA Center of Excellence designation
• Monitor clinical outcomes and implement continuous improvement strategies

• Expand referral networks and build strong relationships with community providers
• Collaborate with pediatric congenital programs to ensure continuity of care

• Lead CME initiatives and ACHD education for patients, providers, and the public

• Work with MedStar leadership on strategic budgeting, operations, and revenue growth

Qualifications:

• MD or DO with board certification in Adult Congenital Heart Disease (ACHD)
• Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience within a recognized ACHD program
• Strong academic credentials and eligibility for faculty appointment

Position Summary

The George Washington University Medical Faculty Associates, an independent, non-profit academic clinical practice group affiliated with The George Washington University (GW), is seeking a full-time cardiologist in the Department of Medicine’s Division of Cardiology. Responsibilities include providing excellent patient care to heart failure cardiology patients in the outpatient department

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned.

• Provide excellent patient care to hospitalized patients and consultations for outpatients
• Teach residents and medical students
• Maintain an active research program

**The pay for this role will be $287,000- $400,000**

Basic Qualifications: Applicants must be board-eligible/board certified in Advanced Heart Failure and Transplantation and licensed in the District of Columbia by the time of appointment. Applicants should have demonstrated skills in the area of Advanced Heart Failure and Mechanical Circulatory Assist Devices, including complex heart failure management; pre and post VAD management, including other temporary mechanical circulatory support devices; and cardiac intensive care management. Right heart catheterization and endomyocardial biopsy skills are preferable.
