Purchasing Leadership

• Place and manage Purchase Orders (POs) with IAC-approved vendors.

• Obtain and evaluate vendor quotations.

• Distribute POs internally and electronically to vendors.


Bill of Materials (BOM) & Materials Coordination

• Develop, maintain, and execute Bills of Materials (BOMs) for SEP and Systems jobs.

• Create and distribute Assembly Pick Lists and Ship-Loose Pick Lists to IAC Warehouse and Fabrication teams.

• Track material availability and proactively follow up on missing or late components.

• Communicate material status and exceptions to Fabricators and Production Control.

• Coordinate with Production Control to align purchasing priorities with production needs.

• Follow up with vendors on shipment exceptions and delivery commitments.


Vendor Pricing & Cost Management

• Serve as the primary point of contact for all company vendor price lists.

• Maintain, update, and distribute vendor price lists internally.

• Ensure pricing accuracy within purchasing systems and project estimates.


Vendor Relations & Negotiation

• Meet with current and prospective vendors to strengthen partnerships.

• Negotiate pricing, lead times, and commercial terms.

• Resolve vendor-related issues including pricing discrepancies, delivery delays, and returns.

• Evaluate new vendor products and technologies for potential adoption.

• Coordinate and lead vendor meetings, reviews, and performance discussions.


Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Partner closely with Production Control, Engineering, Warehouse, and Fabrication teams.

• Support continuous improvement initiatives related to supply chain efficiency, cost reduction, and vendor performance.

Strategic Purchasing & Procurement Leadership (Expanded Scope)

• Develop and execute IAC’s purchasing and procurement strategy aligned with company growth, margin targets, and operational priorities.

• Establish short- and long-term sourcing strategies for critical materials, fabricated components, and systems-related purchases.

• Lead cost-reduction and value-engineering initiatives in partnership with Engineering, Production, and Finance.

• Analyze spend data to identify consolidation opportunities, preferred supplier programs, and strategic sourcing initiatives.

• Own purchasing input into annual budgeting, forecasting, and capital planning processes.


Supplier Performance & Risk Management

• Establish and manage supplier performance metrics (OTD, quality, responsiveness, pricing adherence).

• Identify and mitigate supply chain risks, including single-source dependencies, long lead-time components, and geopolitical or logistics disruptions.

• Develop contingency plans and alternate sourcing strategies to support uninterrupted production.

• Lead supplier corrective action processes when performance issues arise.


Contracting & Commercial Governance

• Lead negotiation and execution of supplier agreements, including pricing, lead times, payment terms, and service levels.

• Ensure purchasing activities comply with internal controls, audit requirements, and ethical sourcing standards.

• Partner with Finance and Legal (as applicable) on contract review, risk exposure, and compliance matters.


Systems, Data & Process Ownership

• Serve as purchasing lead for the ERP implementation and ongoing optimization, ensuring accurate item masters, pricing, vendor records, and BOM integrity.

• Define and maintain purchasing workflows, approval matrices, and delegation of authority.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • 10+ years of progressive purchasing, procurement, or supply chain leadership experience within industrial EPC, OEM, fabrication, or construction-driven environments.
  • Strong background in industrial aftermarket parts, including sourcing and supporting MRO, fabricated components, mechanical systems, and engineered assemblies.
  • Demonstrated EPC industrial purchasing experience, supporting complex, project-based work with tight schedules, evolving BOMs, and long lead-time materials.
  • Proven experience supporting organizations similar in scope and complexity to IAC and Adelphi, including EPC contractors, industrial design/build firms, OEMs, or construction and field services companies.
  • Must have direct, hands-on experience with Spectrum Viewpoint ERP, including purchasing, vendor management, item masters, pricing structures, and BOM workflows.
  • Extensive experience managing Bills of Materials (BOMs), engineered-to-order systems, and material coordination across multiple concurrent projects.
  • Demonstrated success negotiating supplier pricing, lead times, contracts, and commercial terms to drive cost control and schedule adherence.
  • Strong understanding of supplier performance management, including on-time delivery (OTD), quality metrics, corrective action, and risk mitigation.
  • Experience developing and executing strategic sourcing, preferred supplier programs, and cost-reduction/value-engineering initiatives.

Job Details We are looking for a driven Mechanical Engineer / Project Manager to join our team in Kansas City, KS! Responsibilities: Designing HVAC and Plumbing Systems for a variety of project types.

Performing HVAC load calculations.

Sizing of mechanical equipment, ductwork, hydronic piping and plumbing piping.

Manage the entire MEP team so ensure schedules and work assignments are met for successful project completion.

Check design deliverables in accordance with industry codes and standards, contract requirements, and company standards.

Interact and coordinate with the design and construction project team.

Write and edit projects specifications.

Review project submittals, respond to project RFI’s during construction administration phase of project.

Attend site visits for review of construction and installation.

Education/Requirements: BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar.

A minimum of 4-8 years of experience in engineering.

Professional Engineering License in KS is preferred.

Experience with HVAC and Plumbing Systems, equipment selection, material lists, contract documents and drawing review.

Strong understanding of building codes and standards.

Proficient with Revit, AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.

You will leverage CFD tools to perform rack and system-level thermal and fluid analysis, ensuring optimal flow distribution, pressure drop, and temperature performance. What will you do?

- Lead the end-to-end integration and testing of rack thermal solutions, including liquid cooling systems in varying form factors and product lines.
- Use CFD tools (FloTherm or Macroflow) to perform switch, rack, and system-level thermal/fluid analysis (flow distribution, pressure drop, and temperature profiling).
- Design and optimize thermal components using 3D CAD (Creo or SolidWorks) to support seamless hardware integration and testing.
- Participate in customer engagements and site visits to understand and document deployment constraints and gather feedback for design improvements.

Optimize rack manifold design and manufacturing processes, including machining, welding, surface finishing, connection interfaces, venting and draining strategies, and flow path optimization to enhance performance and manufacturability.
Drive continuous improvement in manufacturing assembly methods and tooling in collaboration with production teams and equipment vendors to improve quality, scalability, and cost efficiency.
Lead root cause investigations for complex mechanical failures identified during validation or field deployment and implement corrective design improvements.
Provide technical leadership in vendor qualification and management for mechanical components and liquid cooling subsystems.
Identify and mitigate technical risks impacting performance, schedule, or cost, and contribute to R&D initiatives advancing liquid cooling technologies and system innovation.

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related engineering discipline from an accredited university.

8 years' experience in mechanical design and integration of mission-critical systems.

How will you make an impact?

We are seeking a highly skilled, technically proficient and detail-oriented Principal Mechanical Engineer with expertise in metal structures, frame design, pipes and fabrication to support the development of power and cooling infrastructure for data centers. This role is critical in designing robust mechanical systems that house and support electrical and thermal management equipment, ensuring structural integrity, manufacturability, and compliance with industry standards.

What will you do?

- Experience designing and integrating hydronic systems including pumps, piping networks, valves, and heat exchangers for data center cooling applications.

- Knowledge of fluid dynamics, pressure drop calculations, and pipe sizing for chilled water and glycol-based systems.

- Understanding of installation constraints, maintenance access, and serviceability in large-scale mechanical infrastructure.

- Design and develop mechanical frames, enclosures, and support structures for data center power and cooling products (UPS systems, battery racks, CRAC units, containment systems, LVS, MVS).

- Perform advanced structural analysis using FEA tools to validate mechanical integrity under static, dynamic, seismic, and thermal loads.

- Analyze load paths, stress concentrations, and fatigue life of structural components to ensure long-term reliability.

- Design metal enclosures with considerations for airflow, thermal containment, EMI shielding, and environmental protection.

- Evaluate and implement new materials, coatings, and fabrication technologies to enhance product performance and reliability.

- Participate in customer engagements and site visits to understand deployment constraints and gather feedback for design improvements.

- Create detailed CAD models and fabrication drawings, including weldments, sheet metal, and machined parts

- Select appropriate materials and fabrication methods to optimize cost, performance, and reliability

- Collaborate with electrical, thermal, and systems engineering teams to integrate mechanical designs with functional components.

- Lead mechanical design reviews and contribute to cross-functional design validation efforts.

- Develop and maintain design documentation including BOMs, specifications, test plans, and engineering change orders (ECOs).

- Drive continuous improvement in mechanical design for manufacturability (DFM), cost reduction, and performance optimization.

- Interface with suppliers and customers to resolve fabrication issues and ensure quality standards are met.

- Support lifecycle management of mechanical components, including obsolescence planning and alternate sourcing.

- Conduct root cause analysis and corrective actions for mechanical failures or field issues.

- Ensure mechanical designs support airflow management, thermal containment, and integration with cooling systems (in-row cooling, rear door heat exchangers).

- Collaborate with compliance and certification teams to ensure mechanical designs meet global regulatory requirements (UL, CE, RoHS, REACH)

- May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned

How will you get here?

Education:

- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline.

Experience:

- 8+ years of experience in mechanical design and fabrication, preferably in data center, industrial, or power systems environment.

- Proficiency in CAD tools (SolidWorks, Creo, Inventor) and FEA software (ANSYS, Abaqus).

- Strong knowledge of metal fabrication processes including welding, sheet metal forming, and machining is a must

- Experience with structural design for heavy equipment or large assemblies, and familiarity with thermal and airflow considerations in enclosure design is required

- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
