Licensed Mechanical Engineer (PE) / Engineering Department Head

Our firm is seeking a licensed Mechanical Engineer (PE) with 5+ years of experience to lead our Engineering Department.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The successful candidate will apply advanced engineering judgment and CAD expertise to design permit-ready mechanical systems while overseeing junior engineering staff. (Plumbing, Electrical and Mechanical).

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design HVAC systems for commercial buildings including DX, chilled water, VAV, VRF, DOAS, air filtration, and ventilation systems.

• Perform HVAC load calculations, equipment selection, ductwork and piping layouts.

• Conduct site visits and field investigations.

• Prepare JEA-required calculations including grease trap sizing and GPD calculations.

• Complete energy compliance calculations using COMcheck or FL Energy Gauge.

• Write and edit technical specifications.

• Interpret and apply Florida Building Code requirements.

• Oversee and mentor junior mechanical, plumbing, and electrical designers.

• Manage multiple projects simultaneously.

• Attend meetings and present design solutions to clients.

• Prepare technical reports and presentations.

• Signing and sealing all MEP drawings generated by the firm.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering.

• Florida PE license with ability to obtain licensure in other SE states.

• Minimum 5 years HVAC design experience.

• AutoCAD proficiency.

• Ability to design basic plumbing systems and review electrical designs.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Duties and Responsibilities (at a minimum):

• Provide process engineering leadership and technical support to Operations and Maintenance, including training, troubleshooting, and optimization of plant performance.
• Provide process set points and operating recommendations and coordinate implementation with the Plant Manager and Chief Operator to optimize plant operation.

• Availability 24 hours a day 7 days a week to provide immediate instructions to the control room

• Participate in the review, formulation, implementation and achievement of an 'Annual Budget' and ensure its consistency with the 'Annual O&M budget plan'

The Distribution Designer is responsible for designing and planning electrical distribution systems.

Responsibilities

• Supporting overhead and underground distribution projects by crafting comprehensive scopes and estimates, conducting calculations, and generating intricate design drawings.
• Evaluate electrical loads for clients and conduct on-site measurements to ascertain accurate field data, including span distances and conductor specifications.

The Mechanical Dimensional Management (DM) Engineer is part of the Producibility Team within Agile Hardware Solutions. The DM Engineer collaborates directly with Mechanical Engineering, Materials & Processes and Design & Drafting from the Mechanical Products Team along with Operations, Quality and Supply Chain peers, and suppliers to implement mechanical producibility improvements on new and emerging programs, and upgrades to existing programs. 

The team executes tolerance optimization through primarily 3D tolerance and variation analysis and works with the design team to influence the final design.  Early engagement in the conceptual stage and throughout the development process will ensure that our designs are optimized with respect to tolerance controls and methods of manufacture.  The DM engineer plays an essential part in reducing product cost and ensuring functional quality. 

What You Will Do

As a member of the Dimensional Management and Producibility Team, you may support the team in the following ways:

• Perform detailed 3D complex dimensional tolerance analyses and review 1D tolerance analyses using various tools to evaluate design requirements of new and existing designs to calculate design margin / capability, and provide recommendations while adhering to cost, schedule, and manufacturing constraints.

• Work with product teams to develop coordinated datum flow and document via drawings including interface control drawings (ICDs).

• Apply, encode and decode Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) on various technical data packages.

• Contribute to the development and training of the practical application of GD&T, tolerance analysis methods, and tools.

• Where applicable become recognized as the Dimensional Management Lead on a program to coordinate various aspects of the Dimensional Management Closed Loop Process while supporting Critical Item Initiatives.

• Function as a self-starter while exercising considerable latitude in determining the strategic objectives and methods of achieving Dimensional Management goals.

• Where empowered within a program, offer assistance developing inspection plans for both internal inspection and as required by suppliers for compliance with specifications.

Qualifications You Must Have

• Bachelors in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM), and 8 years’ professional engineering experience

• Experience in the application of GD&T principles (ASME Y14.5)

• Experience with CAD modeling (CREO preferred)

• Experience with commercial tolerance analysis tools (Siemens visVSA preferred)

• Demonstrated working knowledge of statistical tolerancing methods (e.g., Monte Carlo simulations, RSS, MRSS, etc.)

The Test Equipment Engineering (TEE) organization includes all of the engineering disciplines responsible for systems design & test of all Raytheon products. As a Senior Systems Engineer you will be responsible for technical rigor of requirements documents, coordination across teams, sharing program process knowledge, mentoring engineers, and working with the technical and program leads execute program tasks.  Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, requirements management, providing SE oversight during integration and test activities. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on an effectors project pertinent to the systems lifecycle.  This role is 100% on-site at our Tucson, AZ campus with the possibility of occasional travel.

What You Will Do 

• Update, maintain, and improve requirements and requirements documentation for development and production efforts

• Perform and execute integration, verification and testing and/or provide Systems Engineering support during the test.

• Support system performance analysis, and Integration and Test

• Model the system and the system development and production processes using Cameo

• Participate in Failure Investigations

• Conduct Trade Studies and present results to customers

• Perform test planning to develop and implement test plans, and procedures.

• Prepare integration and verification documentation in both simulated and real-world environments

• Create and present technical data for design reviews and in preparation for test events.

• Troubleshoot and analyze hardware, software, and system issues through detailed data analysis and debugging.

• Conduct statistical and numerical analysis of test data to ensure optimal system performance and to verify requirements.

• Support mission execution at various locations including local RTX facilities, test sites, vendor facilities, and customer locations

Qualifications You Must Have 

• Typically requires a Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM preferred) and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience

• Experience in Systems Engineering and/or Systems Integration and test

• Ability to obtain Interim Secret U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date.

In this role, you will support the Systems Engineering Integration (SEI) Integrated Product Team (IPT).

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform modeling, simulation, and analysis to support program development, execution, and related research and development projects
• Develop mission relevant scenarios; assesses operational effectiveness of existing and/or emerging systems and capabilities in representative operational environments
• Develop new and/or integrates existing system simulation frameworks, weapon systems components to include air vehicle platform, kinematics, sensors, communications, command & control, weapons, and threat performance models and algorithms.
• Analyze and test next generation tactical assets within an advanced threat environment
• Develop software to simulate real-time operations and behavior of systems for virtual simulation (man in the loop) testing so that future tactical aircraft can be evaluated in next generation air warfare mission environments.
• Model operational environments and perform trade studies via computer simulation resulting in recommendations for alternative system architectures and configurations
• Support the design and development of visualization models and databases for integration with a high fidelity simulation environment used for strategic simulation and training
• Support evaluations to determine the best frameworks, hardware, capabilities, and tools available to create simulations and experiences that enhance the Virtual Simulation product
• Ensure performance capabilities of new systems and architectures are traded against cost and mission requirements
