A Day in the Life of the Medical Assistant

In this role, you’ll be at the center of the patient experience, welcoming patients, assisting physicians with exams and minor procedures, and coordinating surgeries, MRIs, and testing. You’ll act as a key liaison between patients and providers, ensuring communication is clear, documentation is accurate, and every step of the orthopaedic workflow runs smoothly. Your work directly supports quality patient outcomes and an efficient, patient-focused clinic environment.

Responsibilities include:

• Welcome and room patients, collect vitals (including weight), verify medications, and document patient history in the EMR
• Record accurate, real-time documentation during patient visits
• Communicate clinic delays to registration staff to proactively manage wait times
• Schedule surgeries, radiology, MRIs, testing, and medication refills accurately and efficiently
• Coordinate all aspects of surgical cases, including H&P, PAT, COVID swabs, joint camp, notifications to reps and departments, and patient instructions
• Obtain insurance pre-certifications and verify insurance coverage
• Coordinate with the billing department to confirm payment arrangements and inform patients of financial obligations
• Complete and communicate detailed MRI orders, including CPT codes, authorization numbers, and scheduling details
• Remove dressings and sutures, redress wounds, and perform sterile preps
• Assist physicians with exams, minor office procedures, and cast applications
• Prepare and sterilize instruments and maintain exam and cast rooms
• Stock clinic rooms and order necessary supplies, including gel injections
• Monitor drug and supply expirations and dispose of outdated items appropriately
• Complete work releases, gym releases, handicap permits, and other documentation
• Provide patient education and serve as a physician-patient liaison
• Document all patient phone conversations in the EMR
• Maintain surgeons’ surgery schedules
• Follow HIPAA, OSHA, and compliance guidelines
• Participate in emergency response procedures when needed
• Support continuous quality improvement initiatives
• Assist in training new Medical Assistants

Requirements and Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• 1+ year of medical assistant experience, related experience, and/or training
• Medical Assistant certification is encouraged but not required
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to handle sensitive information
• Proficient with computers, EMR systems, and standard office equipment
• Knowledge of medical terminology and patient scheduling systems
• Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize in a fast-paced clinical environment
• Ability to stand and walk continuously throughout the workday
• Ability to frequently lift, push, or carry 25–50 lbs

POSITION SUMMARY

Recommend, procure, and oversee the maintenance and installation of rotating equipment systems and parts which will provide the highest reliability, operability, and efficiency for plant service in a cost effective manner. Assist engineering staff with: failure analysis, procedure generation and review, standards generation and review. Act as technical resource to Maintenance.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

• High school diploma or GED required
• Associate technical degree or equivalent experience in rotating equipment designs and system designs is highly desirable
• Advanced equipment training, applicable college training, broad-based exposure to machines, and additional years of experience are desirable

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

• 5+ years’ successful work experience with strong skills as either machinist or millwright required
• 5+ years’ experience in a supervisory role (or equivalent) preferred
• Must have a thorough knowledge of rotating equipment applications, designs and systems.
• Must have broad knowledge of and experience with the maintenance of motors, pumps, turbines, fans, and compressors
• Experience in vibration analysis
• Intermediate computer proficiency required, including Word and Excel
• Demonstrated competency of analytical problem solving and troubleshooting abilities
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast paced environment
• Experience with computerized maintenance systems, such as Maximo, preferred
• Working knowledge of GEMS standards for chemical processing equipment and related codes and standards preferred
• Demonstrated ability to read and interpret technical manuals and blueprints required
• Fluent in English, both oral and written required
• Ability to coordinate and interact with various levels of management and departments
• Ability to adjust schedule to meet business needs
• Vibration Analyst Category II Certification (preferred)

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Troubleshoot and analyze problems and system failures and recommend ways of making improvements
• Design parts and systems to improve reliability, operability, and efficiency
• Select the optimum equipment and system designs related to rotating equipment options
• Coordinate and oversee equipment remanufacturing and installation
• Prepare cost estimates and/or AFE’s, recommend spare parts and warehouse stocking levels, prepare requisitions as needed
• Assist in the daily planning, coordination and resolution of “emergency work orders” received and assigned to machinist
• Assist in development of training for technicians to enable current proficiency in all machinist activities
• Assist in development and managing shutdown and turnaround activities
• Maintain a high degree of safe work practices within the work group and while interfacing with other departments
• Provide technical assistance to Maintenance Mechanics
• Maintain proper documentation of all field changes and support the refinery MOC process
• Provide information for maintaining Maximo accuracy.
• Interface and coordinate with area planners, purchasing, vendors and contractors to maintain parts and material supplies
• Interface with Operations Supervisors, Technical Services, Maintenance Planning and Maintenance Management
• Participate in the budgeting process and identify items to be submitted for funding
• Perform QA/QC for new projects and maintenance work
• Manage the plant’s vibration database and online condition monitoring systems.

1.  Required:  Must have a valid Class A CDL
2.  Required:  Must be 21 years of age or older
3.  Required:  A safe driving record on the road is required.
4.  Required:  No more than 6 jobs in the last 3 years
5.  Required:  4+ months of driving experience required
6.  Preferred:  1 year truck driving experience, but not necessary

10.  Required:  For all flatbed driver opportunities, the driver must be physically able to lift a 90-pound tarp onto a 5-foot high platform twice. System Transport will test this during orientation, and flatbed drivers tarp about 70% of our loads. (this is required)

• Acts as lead employee for event, working to ensure all guest needs are met and event plan is successfully completed.
• Review guest count and menu by referring to the Banquet Event Order Form (BEO form)
• Sets tables according to the BEO form
• Maintains overall professional appearance of the banquet area, set up of various buffets and food stations
• Responsible for observing Casino standard of service for: coffee breaks, meetings, breakfast, lunch, dinner set up, receptions and buffets
• May present, open and pour wine when serving guests
• Attends staff meetings and training sessions, as required, to increase performance and knowledge
• Stores and maintains all equipment in proper fashion
• Ensures guest satisfaction at the banquets and events.
• Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English.
• Ability to be self directed and make decisions.
• Must be able to stand and exert fast paced mobility for period of up to four hours in length.
• Adhere to all company policies as defined by the Employee Handbook.
• Maintain a professional appearance at all times, clean and well groomed per standard.
• Answer questions and relate requests/complaints to supervisor/manager.
• May present, open and pour wine when serving guests.
• Assists supervisor/manager as needed with tasks associated with events.
• Must be able to stand and exert fast paced mobility for several hours.
• Performs all relative miscellaneous duties as directed by supervisor/manager.

• Communicating with back of the house and front of the house personnel to provide a banquet/dining experience that meets or exceeds guest’s expectations.
• Observes diners to ensure that guests are satisfied with the food and service.
