Abdominal Transplant Surgeon -Liver and Kidney Transplant Team
Position Overview: Cleveland Clinic Florida is seeking a board-certified/board-eligible ASTS Certified Abdominal Transplant Surgeon to join our esteemed liver and kidney transplant team at our Weston, Florida location. We are in the process of developing strategies in increasing DCD liver utilization and Living Donor volume for Liver transplants. We are also in the process of developing an Organ preservation and Perfusion Center. This role primarily focuses on liver and kidney transplants , with additional responsibilities for cross coverage of the liver and kidney clinical and hospital transplant service. The potential candidate should be proficient in Multiorgan abdominal procurement from DBD and DCD donors, as well certified for A-NRP and TA-NRP procurement and master the ex-situ organ perfusion (NMP – Liver) (Cold perfusion- Kidney). They are supposed to work closely with our Director of Organ Perfusion and Procurement Center. The ideal candidate should be autonomous in kidney transplant procedures and in donor selection for cadaveric liver or kidney transplant. Experience in Living Donor Liver Transplant will be considered favorably.
Key Responsibilities/Qualifications:
ASTS certification in Abdominal Transplant Surgery
Demonstrate skills in Organ Perfusion with NMP (Organ Metra) and understanding principle or experience of Normothermic Regional Perfusion.
Have surgical skills in Liver Transplants and optionally experience in living donor hepatectomies.
Perform autonomously standard surgical cases in Liver Transplants or Kidney Transplants.
Rotation in the Kidney transplant service and in the liver transplant service one week per month; provide clinic surgical support the remaining weeks.
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to provide exceptional patient care.
Capacity to interface with medical staff and APPs

Summary:
This is a full-time faculty position at an open rank within the Department of Pediatrics. The appointed individual will serve as the attending physician responsible for the care of critically ill and step-down pediatric cardiac patients, including those with heart failure or on mechanical circulatory support. Service time will align with the division's needs, typically benchmarked at 14· 16 weeks per year and 52 on-call shifts.
This role includes a commitment to teaching pediatric critical care and pediatric cardiology fellows, advanced practice providers, nursing staff, and other unit-based personnel. The candidate is strongly encouraged to pursue research interests in basic science or clinical fields.
Additionally, the candidate will be expected to participate in various training and educational activities, leading quality improvement and care process initiatives. Description:
Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of the radiographic / digital imaging equipment and table positioning as appropriate for safe patient care. Assists physicians as scrub/circulator for Interventional Radiology procedures including, but not limited to, arteriograms for cerebral, renal, mesenteric, pelvic and extremity circulation (possible angioplasty/stent placement/thrombolytic therapy/embolization), percutaneous gastrostomy tube procedures, percutaneous nephrostomy and urologic stenting procedures, venous access procedures, venography of the extremities, inferior and superior vena cava (possible angioplasty/stent placement/filter placement/thrombolytic therapy), percutaneous cholangiogram (possible balloon dilation/stent placement/drainage catheter placement/stone extraction), transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt, endovascular repair of thoracic and abdominal aortic aneurysms and is willing to adapt to new technologies and protocols.

IR Techs use fluoroscopy (essentially real-time X-ray), specialized wires, stents and other tools to visualize the patient's condition in real time and also change what they see
What you will do:
- Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of the radiographic / digital imaging equipment and table positioning as appropriate for safe patient care.
- Demonstrates ability to acquire images and send images to the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS).
- Demonstrates ability to communicate verbally and in written form (e.g. sticky notes) clearly and effectively with other members of the team.
- Transports patients to and from procedural area, admitting and recovery area, and other areas within the hospital as needed.
- Assists with patient transfer to and from procedure table and stretcher.
- Establishes and maintains ongoing communication with the physician operator throughout procedures to facilitate patient safety, diagnosis, and treatment.
- Demonstrates willingness to learn new procedures and coordinates in-service/education for other associates, as needed.
- Administers contrast media under the direction of a physician. Recognizes signs of a contrast reaction and responds appropriately with corrective action.
- Systematically reviews history and physical, lab values, prior imaging, and correlates invasive procedure protocol with patient’s physiological status. Communicates findings to physician operator and fellow team members.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Graduate of an American Medical Association (AMA) approved Diagnostic Radiology program.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Able to respond on-site within 30 minutes when participating in the on-call rotation.
- Florida Licensed Radiologic Technologist, Radiography credentialing thru American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (R) (ARRT).

Minimum Qualifications/Requirements of a FirstChoice Nurse:
