Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) - Public Safety - 3p - 3:30 a.m.

The Public Safety team is responsible for maintaining an environment that is safe for patients, employees, and visitors.  To support that initiative, Public Safety maintains a staff of EMTs to work with the Emergency Department and respond to in house emergencies. The Public Safety team seeks an experienced EMT for its team.

The successful individual will be responsible for:

  • Monitoring patients in the Emergency Department for change in medical condition that would warrant notification of the triage nurse to re-evaluate the patient.

  • Monitoring the waiting area environment for safety hazards and take corrective action when hazards are observed.

  • Assisting patients and visitors with questions and concerns as needed.

  • Offload and loading of patients for helicopter landings.

  • Responding to outpatient or visitor emergencies throughout Christiana Hospital.  Render care to stabilize the individual.

  • Transporting patients to the appropriate area for treatment

  • Assist Emergency Department staff due to high volume of patients

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma.

  • Emergency Medical Technician - National Registered EMT-B and Delaware EMT-B required.

  • BLS with BLS Instructor preferred.

  • Emergency Vehicle Operator Certification (EVO-C)

  • Minimum of 2 years of work experience interacting with patient in an emergency setting 

  • 911 experience strongly preferred.

Hours: The successful candidate will work 12-hour shifts from 15 p.m. - 3:30 a.m.) plus, one 8-hour shift per pay. Every other weekend required, plus holidays.

Hourly Pay Range: $19.84 - $29.76This pay rate/range represents ChristianaCare’s good faith and reasonable estimate of compensation at the time of posting.
