The candidate should have subspecialty-focused expertise in GI Pathology; fellowship training is preferred. Expectations

The ideal candidate should have specialized expertise in Surgical Pathology, with a focus on GI Pathology, demonstrating strong skills in complex diagnostic interpretation and intraoperative consultations. This faculty member will function independently as a definitive diagnostic authority, providing expert interpretations that directly impact patient care and treatment planning, while communicating complex diagnostic information clearly to clinicians, learners, and patients. The breadth, complexity, and uniqueness in the pathological materials are remarkable. The successful candidate will also support the department’s academic mission through clinical and translational research that advances the understanding of GI disease.

The candidate will contribute expert insight to multidisciplinary tumor boards and disease-site conferences and provide educational lectures and advanced instruction to medical students, pathology residents, fellows, and faculty, drawing on recognized subspecialty expertise. The candidate will perform and interpret intraoperative frozen sections requiring specialized judgment and will participate in call coverage in accordance with divisional assignments, when applicable. Members of the Ob/Gyn Generalists Division provide comprehensive obstetric & gynecologic care to women working alongside allied health professionals, specialists and subspecialists in both the University of Miami/ UHealth and Jackson Health Systems.

Primary duties will include: 

• Active participation in the inpatient and outpatient clinical practice of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Miami Kendall Medical Center, Desai Sethi Institute, Doral Commons, University of Miami Hospital and Jackson Memorial Hospital. 

• Participation in the advancement and education of “OB/GYN” medical students, residents, and fellows.?? 

• Develops and carries out a comprehensive medical treatment plan addressing biological, psychological, and sociocultural domains.

• Performs physical assessment of patients in a logical and respectful manner. Prescribes medical treatment and clinical drugs to patients.

Specialty care includes uterine fibroids, sexual health, pelvic pain, vulvar abnormalities, family planning, preconception counseling, cervical dysplasia, and anal dysplasia. Generalist Division in the role as Division Chief. Clinical investigation includes a broad range of domains, including but not limited to patient oriented, translational, epidemiologic, behavioral, outcomes, implementation or health services research.

• Outpatient clinics.

Position Summary  

The Department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine is seeking a highly skilled and patient-centered?Physician in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R)?to provide comprehensive consultative services across Jackson Health System and UHealth/University of Miami clinics and inpatient units. The physician will support the delivery of high-quality rehabilitative care by performing evaluations, developing evidence-based care plans, coordinating interdisciplinary services, and ensuring continuity of care for patients with a broad range of?conditions. 

The ideal candidate will excel in a collaborative academic medical environment, demonstrate strong clinical reasoning, and contribute to the expansion and excellence of the PM&R ?service lines.

Primary Responsibilities  

Clinical Care – Consultative Services  

•  Provide inpatient and outpatient care, including PM&R consultations across Jackson Memorial Hospital and UHealth sites.

• Evaluate patients with impairments resulting from spinal cord injury, stroke, brain injury, amputation, complex orthopedic and musculoskeletal conditions, and medically complex diagnoses. 

• Develop individualized, interdisciplinary rehabilitation plans using evidence-based methods and best clinical practices. 

• Recommend appropriate therapies, durable medical equipment, bracing/orthotics, and rehabilitation levels of care (e.g., acute inpatient rehab, SNF, home therapies). 

• Provide timely documentation, follow-up assessments, and clear recommendations to referring services. 

• Participate in multidisciplinary rounds, discharge planning, and coordination with case management and therapy teams. 

• Provide specialty PM&R expertise to support clinical programs such as neurorehabilitation, spinal cord injury, cancer rehab, medically complex diagnosis, and musculoskeletal medicine. 

Academic and Teaching Responsibilities  

• Participate in the education and supervision of residents, fellows, and medical students from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. 

• Contribute to case discussions, clinical teaching, quality improvement initiatives, and academic activities within the department. 

Administrative & Professional Responsibilities  

• Maintain accurate, timely documentation in accordance with University and Jackson Health System policies. 

• Ensure compliance with all regulatory standards, including Joint Commission, CMS, and institutional guidelines. 

• Participate in departmental meetings, clinical quality efforts, and workflow improvements related to consultative services. 

• Demonstrate professionalism, teamwork, and strong communication with referring providers and interdisciplinary colleagues. 

Qualifications  

• MD or DO from an accredited medical school. 

• Completion of an ACGME-accredited residency program in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation. 

• Board-certified or board-eligible in PM&R. 

• Eligibility for Florida medical licensure. 

• Additional fellowship training (e.g., Spinal Cord Injury Medicine, Brain Injury Medicine, Cancer rehabilitation) is welcomed but not required.

Sebastian Strong Dolphins Cancer Challenge Endowed Chair, Assistant Professor, Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center

Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor. The successful applicant will have a primary appointment in a department at the University of Miami and research responsibilities within the Translational and Clinical Oncology Program (TCO) at the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, which is South Florida’s only NCI-designated Cancer Center. The successful candidate should be motivated to participate in the expansion of driving breakthrough research from laboratory discoveries to novel interventions with direct patient impact. There is particular interest in candidates who would like to pursue greater than 50% of their time to a pediatric related cancer. We welcome highly collaborative team scientists, with a track record of excellence in research, peer-reviewed publications, and the potential to develop and/or lead clinical trials, including investigator-initiated trials. There is a particular interest in candidates interested in precision medicine/pathology.

Key Areas of Responsibility

Currently the practice has four physicians and two ARNPs.

The practice approximately does 20-25 deliveries per month and concentrates its practice at one hospital (Baptist Hospital of Miami).

Hospital has 24 hour anesthesia and level III NICU.

Busy office GYN practice with office surgical suite.

Robotics available at the hospital.

No ER call.

Weekday call will be 1:5 approximately.

The practice shares call within a call group on the weekends which approximately renders the weekend to 1:11.
