Job Responsibilities

Interpret and implement medical prescriptions for speech-language pathology services, ensuring appropriateness for the home care environment

Conduct thorough assessments in the patient's home using standardized tools to evaluate communication, cognitive-linguistic function, voice, fluency, and swallowing abilities

Develop and implement individualized, evidence-based treatment plans that reflect both short- and long-term patient goals, with attention to the home environment and available resources

Adjust treatment strategies based on patient progress, caregiver input, and observed response to therapy, ensuring goals remain functional and achievable in the home setting

Document all assessments, interventions, patient progress, and caregiver interactions using electronic or paper records in compliance with agency policies and regulatory standards

Ensure documentation supports reimbursement criteria and meets all required timelines and confidentiality regulations, including HIPAA and agency-specific guidelines

Provide education and training to patients and caregivers on communication strategies, compensatory techniques, and safe swallowing practices within the context of daily home routines

Establish strong rapport and effective communication with patients, caregivers, and interdisciplinary team members to support coordinated care

Participate in case conferences, team meetings, and care planning discussions to align therapy goals with overall care plans and discharge readiness

Collaborate with care managers and vendors to recommend and coordinate the provision of durable medical equipment or assistive technology when indicated

Maintain professional licensure through ongoing continuing education, and stay current with clinical best practices relevant to home-based speech-language pathology

Assist in mentoring peers or evaluating competencies of other clinicians as needed, contributing to team development and quality of care

Position Qualifications

Minimum Required:

Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology

Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from ASHA, or current candidate in a Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY)

Current New York State license as a Speech-Language Pathologist

Current CPR certification

Preferred:

Previous clinical experience

Experience working with dysphagia and neurogenic communication disorders

  • Build trust-based relationships and navigate across organizational layers to achieve challenging goals through the management of both school-based leaders and other network level team members


Develop talent by directly managing and coaching the director of after school, a team of four principals, and leading critical organizational talent development structures to support leadership and coaching.

  • Design and deliver ongoing professional development for all school leaders, especially principals, and including vice-principals and school culture teams (Deans & Social Workers)
  • Regularly participate in academic walkthroughs, joint check-ins, and other meeting observations to develop and improve school leader performance
  • Foster a collaborative approach between principals and across campuses to ensure K-12 network alignment as one school
  • Lead a diverse, equitable, and inclusive team by both modeling organizational values and modeling strengths-based coaching that catalyzes leader performance
  • Partner with CTEO to improve and continue to refine instructional evaluation systems
  • Partner with the People Team to refine and improve People systems, and recruit and retain diverse academic staff


Operate with Effectiveness by leading with a systems orientation to drive long term sustainable results.

  • Codify systems to ensure best practices are implemented across campuses, with a particular emphasis on school culture systems, restorative practices, SEL learning, and our Advisory curriculum
  • Actively monitor the implementation of significant behavioral consequences by principals to ensure alignment with the School’s mission and vision, and compliance with policies and relevant laws
  • Liaise with principals, families, and CEO to actively manage risk and crises related to student safety
  • Ensure compliance as it relates to supporting students with special needs; adhere to city, state, and federal compliance related to Individualized Education Plans and English Language Learners
  • Innovate and partner with the operations team to ensure continuous improvement around student academic data systems, the use of technology to support and facilitate instruction, and curriculum purchasing

Coney Island Prep is a college preparatory public charter school in Brooklyn, New York. An American Sign Language Interpreter for AV Services, Inc. will provide high-quality professional ASL interpreting on-site and remotely via video conferencing. The successful ASL Interpreter will demonstrate effective communication in both ASL and English as well as adherence to the NAD/RID Code of Professional Conduct.

Objectives:

  • Maintain professional relationships with clients to deliver superior Multimedia Accommodation Services within conference center space and designated retail branch locations
  • Present a professional image and adhere to Client business policies.
  • Demonstrate an intentionally inclusive approach to all people at all times

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Provide effective onsite and remote video interpreting.
  • Exhibit professional behavior, including punctuality and preparedness for shifts, collaborative interaction with colleagues and supervisors, and timely and accurate record keeping
  • Able to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Able to monitor technical issues and report to appropriate staff

Job Qualifications

  • Associates degree or higher in ASL, English, Communication or Interpretation
  • National Interpreter Certification (NIC)

  • Fluent ASL and spoken English language skills
  • Thorough understanding of Deaf culture
  • In-depth knowledge of and adherence to the NAD-RID Code of Professional Conduct
  • Excellent spelling/vocabulary
  • Typing skills of at least 55 words per minute with a low error rate
  • Comfortable and familiar with computers and new technology
