A Clinical Case Educator requires the credentials of a Registered Nurse. Summary:
Conducts procedures and tests using Computerized Tomography (CT) equipment to acquire and analyze patient diagnostic data.
Hours: Monday - Thursday, 9:00pm-5:00am

1. Patient Identification- Uses professional manners and methods, verifies patient identification, obtains patient history, assists patients and family members that require extra attention, insures patient understanding whenever possible, and insures patient safety. Verifies patient identification, asks and documents pregnancy status on patients of child bearing age.
2. CT Scans- Obtains images per protocols, manipulates images according to protocols, performs multi-planar and 3D reconstruction of image data, demonstrates a thorough knowledge of CT algorithms, and selects appropriate window and level setting according to anatomy.
3. Contrast- Administers oral contrast to adult and pediatric patients according to protocols, establishes intravenous lines, administers IV contrast following safe and proper injection procedures, follows correct procedure to determine contrast eligibility, checks appropriate lab values before contrast injection per protocol.
4. Image Transfer- Maintains thorough understanding of PACS, and transmits images to QC, UNCH's EMR, EPIC and PACS, verifies and segments images at the QC station, accesses IMPAX service tools to verify images transmission, completes, modifies and/or cancels orders in an appropriate and timely manner, cancels duplicate orders to avoid duplicate billing. Insures that all charge information is accurate. Verifies patient identification in accordance with UNC policy, insures that all appropriate demographic information is accurate and on the PACS images.
5. Other Duties- Performs task in a timely manner, runs the schedule creating a consistent workflow, volunteers to work on challenging tasks, difficult procedures and new research, produces quality diagnostic images, reviews patient's chart and reports for correlation, maintains a clean and orderly work environment, creates and keeps documentation of incidents as improvement opportunities for employees and the department. 3 West - General Medicine
3 West is a 31 bed, general medicine unit. We care for a variety of medical patients with diagnoses that include COPD, diabetes, pneumonia, renal failure, minor neurological disorders, behavioral health, as well as many others. We are that team who can develop young minds and provide a supportive, mentoring atmosphere. . We offer online self-scheduling, exceptional night and weekend shift differentials, and co-worker input on holiday rotations. We support education and work hard to be flexible for those co-workers in school. Several of our bedside staff are masters prepared and 30% are Med/Surg certified nurses. We have several trained preceptors who enjoy guiding co-workers through the learning process, helping to identify progress goals as well as adapting orientation to fit the experience and needs of their trainee.

Position Summary:
The Clinical Nurse IV (CNIV) is an expert-level registered nurse who provides clinical leadership on a medical inpatient unit under the supervision of the Unit Manager. This role encompasses direct patient care, as well as charge nurse responsibilities, patient advocacy, staff mentorship, resource coordination, and quality promotion projects. The CNIV will join 3 West leaders to actively engage with staff to identify and remove patient care barriers and promote a healthy work environment as well as develop staff members by:
· Assuming charge nurse responsibilities, managing patient flow, bed assignments, staff assignments, and real-time problem solving. This role includes direct patient care assignments.
· Assist with crisis management, de-escalation, and complex decision-making in real-time patient care situations.

UNC Rex has a robust and efficient surgical program. We have two separate OR departments that perform both inpatient and outpatient procedures on adult and pediatric populations. Our OR West has 12 Operating Rooms and OR East has 11 Operating Rooms and 2 Procedure Rooms. The Nurses and Surgical Technologists provide intraoperative care for a variety of service lines including Plastics, GYN, GU, General, Bariatrics, Colorectal, Orthopedics, Neuro, Urology, Pulmonology, Robotics, and ENT.
Summary:
Provides competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards. Reporting and accountable to the Nurse Manager/Director, the Clinical Nurse is responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care utilizing the nursing process in a hospital setting.
Responsibilities:
1. Education - Participates in identifying and meeting learning needs of self. Attends education programs based on identified learning needs. With assistance, uses patient education materials relevant to patient population. Assesses readiness to learn of the patient/ family/ caregivers. Assesses developmental level of patient and factors affecting ability to learn.
2. Evaluation of Care - Identifies expected patient outcomes. Seeks guidance as needed in revision of plan of care. Participates in discussion with members of the interdisciplinary team in evaluation of patient care. Communicates relevant information to promote continuity of care

The Surgical Technologist III provides support for surgical and interventional cardiac and/or vascular cases, facilitating the safe and effective conduct of invasive surgical procedures, ensuring that the operating room environment is safe, that equipment functions properly, and that the operative procedure is conducted under conditions that maximize patient safety. Surgical technologists possess expertise in the theory and application of sterile and aseptic technique and combine the knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedures, and implementation tools and technologies to facilitate a physician's performance of invasive therapeutic and diagnostic procedures. Competent to perform surgical scrub duties across multiple services. Must function as a subject matter expert (SME), PI project, or another unit project when needed. 8. Performs surgical counts. Follows policies and procedures for incorrect counts and reports discrepancies appropriately.
9. Assists in the proper identification, preparation, handling, and labeling of surgical specimens. Labels drugs and solutions; monitors quantities used.
10. Actively participates in the planning and set up of instruments, supplies, and surgical drapes in an organized manner to provide optimal accessibility during the procedure. Assists in picking cases and planning of instrument needs.
11. Assists the surgeon, demonstrating an understanding of the patient's anatomy and abnormalities which affect the surgical procedure. Assists the registered nurse during the intraoperative implementation phase of nursing practice.
12. Recognizes and modifies scrubbing procedures based on pertinent information to develop modifications to standard approaches to care and communicates with the surgical team. Responds to surgical emergencies and follows hospitalwide emergency management plans.
13. Inventories, receives, and stores supplies under the direction of leadership. Identifies and reports defective instruments, supplies, and equipment. Assists with restocking operating/procedure rooms and sub-sterile areas. Coaches team to anticipate resources.
14. Mentors Surgical Tech peers in collaboration with leadership and educator. Serves as primary preceptor for new hires, on the job trainees, and to scrub role for CVOR. Participates in teaching, guiding, and evaluating the performance of peers during orientation and annual review process. Identifies and communicates educational needs with leadership and educator. Assesses department-wide learning needs and participates in planning activities to meet those needs.
15. Serves as Primary Surgical Technologist resource for surgical specialty.
16. Collaborates with other health care professionals in the development of surgical budgetary requirements. When applicable, recommends cost containment strategies to increase organizational fiscal outcomes.
17. Participates in data collection for research projects under the direction of an RN.
