We are seeking an experienced and business‐savvy Real Estate Counsel to join the legal team and support a growing national portfolio. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in commercial real estate transactions, acquisitions, dispositions, leasing, and asset management; will deliver practical, business‐oriented guidance on complex, high‐value transactions; and will have the proven ability to independently manage sophisticated matters from diligence through closing.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of real estate transaction documents, including purchase and sale agreements; commercial leases, amendments, renewals, and terminations; easements, access agreements, declarations, restrictive covenants, estoppels, landlord waivers, consents, and SNDAs; operational contracts (vendor, service, SOWs, MSAs); and NDAs.
- Serve as a strategic partner to senior leadership, acting as a trusted advisor to business teams and providing sound judgment, intellectual curiosity, and balanced risk analysis to support portfolio‐level and asset‐level decisions.
- Independently lead and manage real estate transactions from diligence through closing, including title and survey review, transaction structuring, coordination, and execution.
- Oversee real estate closings and coordinate with internal teams, title companies, and outside counsel.
- Provide day‐to‐day legal support for portfolio and asset management, including landlord‐tenant matters, lease compliance and disputes, tenant defaults, easement and consent requests, casualty and condemnation issues, and insurance‐related claims.
- Manage outside counsel on select transactions, litigation matters, tenant bankruptcies, and environmental issues, ensuring efficient and cost‐effective outcomes.
- Support environmental compliance matters related to the acquisition, ownership, and disposition of real property.

This role offers meaningful responsibility early on, the opportunity to work closely with experienced litigators, and exposure to multiple practice areas including commercial litigation, consumer bankruptcy, and basic estate planning.
Responsibilities
- Draft and respond to written discovery, including interrogatories, requests for production, and requests for admission.
- Draft pleadings, motions, memoranda, and other litigation documents.
- Conduct legal research and prepare well-written, persuasive work product.
- Assist with case strategy, legal research, and motion practice in commercial litigation matters.
- Independently handle smaller matters such as demand letters, small claims defense cases, and similar assignments.
- Support partners in larger commercial litigation and bankruptcy matters.
- Assist in preparing cases for hearings, depositions, mediations, and trial.
- Learn to assist with consumer bankruptcy matters and the preparation of basic estate planning documents.
- Work collaboratively with attorneys and staff to ensure deadlines are met and cases move forward efficiently.
Qualifications
- 1–4 years of civil litigation experience
- Licensed and in good standing with The Florida Bar
- Strong research and legal writing skills are essential
- Experience drafting pleadings, motions, and discovery
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail
- Adaptable and eager to learn new practice areas
- Comfortable working in a fully remote environment
- Law review or journal experience preferred but not required
- Courtroom or hearing experience preferred but not required
- Spanish proficiency is a plus but not required
- Located in Florida (South Florida preferred)

Key Responsibilities
Estate Planning Support
• Draft estate planning documents including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and health care directives
• Prepare asset summaries, trust funding materials, and planning packets
• Assist with revisions, proofreading, and final document preparation
• Coordinate signings and ensure execution requirements are met
• Maintain organized and confidential client files
Estate and Trust Administration
• Prepare probate pleadings and filings for Florida courts
• Gather and organize financial and asset information
• Communicate with fiduciaries, beneficiaries, advisors, and financial institutions
• Assist with estate and trust accountings
• Monitor deadlines and ensure timely submissions
Tax and Compliance Support
• Assist with federal estate tax returns (706), gift tax returns (709), and fiduciary income tax matters
• Gather supporting documentation and track key filing dates
• Coordinate with CPAs and financial advisors
• Maintain records needed for ongoing tax compliance
Client Service and Practice Support
• Maintain a consistent billable workload
• Communicate professionally with clients and advisors
• Track case progress and follow up on outstanding items
• Assist attorneys with organization across multiple active matters
What They Are Looking For
• At least 7 years of Trusts and Estates paralegal experience in a law firm environment
• Strong understanding of Florida probate procedures and estate planning concepts
• Experience with estate and gift tax filings is preferred
• Ability to support high net worth estate planning matters
• Strong organizational skills and excellent attention to detail
• Professional communication skills and a client focused approach
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and relevant planning or tax software
