Position Overview
We're hiring a Painting/Waterproofing Estimator with strong sales experience to join a growing commercial contractor in San Diego. This role blends estimating, business development, and high-level project oversight—ideal for someone who is self-driven, organized, and thrives in a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same.
What You'll Do
- Prepare detailed estimates (scope, labor, materials) for commercial painting & waterproofing projects
- Analyze blueprints, plans, and specs for accurate cost projections
- Conduct site visits, job walks, and measurements
- Meet with clients to define scope and align expectations
- Write and present proposals aligned with budgets and timelines
- Build and maintain relationships with property managers, HOAs, engineers, facilities & project managers
- Generate new business through outreach, networking, and sales presentations

- Coordinate with vendors and internal teams
- Maintain accurate documentation of estimates and project updates
What You Bring
- 5+ years outside sales experience (construction or related services preferred)
- Experience selling to property managers, HOAs, or facilities managers strongly preferred
- Strong math, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to read and interpret construction documents/blueprints
- Knowledge of painting techniques, materials, and waterproofing systems
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Experience with BlueBeam or similar estimating software

- Fluent in electrochemical techniques such as cyclic voltammetry, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, and common potentiostatic and galvanostatic methods
- Effective time management in a semi-autonomous environment with the ability to work independently and as part of a team

Education & Experience
- Ph.D. in chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science, physics or other relevant discipline, or equivalent experience

- Maintain a valid unrestricted California Fire & Casualty Solicitors license and a valid Drivers license.
- Achieve and maintain advanced insurance designations applicable to the above duties such as CPCU or CIC designations.
- Excellent understanding of insurance terminology, trends and factor influencing the industry, and the various lines of Business Insurance insurance.
- Proficiency with MS Office Software (Word, Excel, Outlook).

The applicable base salary range for this role is $92,400 to $172,100.
The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and any applicable minimum wage requirements. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.

S&OP & Inventory Execution Support
- Support the S&OP process by providing demand visibility and execution feedback
- Coordinate customer communications related to supply changes in partnership with Sales
- Partner with Sales, Operations, and warehouse teams to help move distressed or aged inventory
- Flag operational risks related to shortages, aged inventory, or misaligned demand
Sales Operations & Reporting
- Own recurring updates for sales dashboards and reports (daily, weekly, monthly)
- Build ad-hoc analyses to support Sales leadership and decision-making
- Fulfill data requests (e.g., KeHE inventory pulls, Dot Foods portal data)
- Ensure data accuracy and consistency across systems and reporting tools
Career Requirements/What we ask of you:
- 4–7 years of experience in Commercial Operations, Sales Operations, Customer Operations, or a related role with a Consumer Packaged Goods organization
- Experience leading operational teams, preferably in order processing or customer operations
- Strong analytical skills with advanced Excel and reporting experience
- Experience working with ERP systems (NetSuite preferred)
- Comfortable navigating customer portals, distributor systems, and internal tools
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage recurring operational processes
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Schedule:
• Base work schedule is Monday through Friday at our San Diego Headquarters
