CLSSD, located in the Kearny Mesa area of San Diego, is seeking a Full-Time Staff Attorney position. The Attorney is responsible for representing clients who range between the ages of 0-21 years old who are dependents of the juvenile courts in San Diego County. For children and youth under age 18, CLSSD Attorneys serve as their attorney and Guardian Ad Litem.   • Properly applying dependency and other applicable case law, statutes and court rules;
  • Complying with all authority (statute, case law, rules of court, local rules and rules of professional conduct, etc.) which govern the representation of parties in Juvenile Dependency proceedings;
  • Using effective trial and courtroom presentation skills;
  • Effectively negotiating with other counsel and social workers;
  • Using sound case analysis and judgment;
  • Effectively applying evidentiary rules and objections;
  • Propounding and reviewing discovery;
  • Assessing the need for expert witnesses;

2. Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of dependency law and a general knowledge of law in related areas by competently analyzing and applying the law in daily advocacy and practice thus providing thorough, competent and accurate legal advice. Attend required trainings, which may fall outside of regular business hours. Maintain compliance with MCLE requirements.

3.Prepare clear, concise and persuasive motions, pleadings, briefs, and memorandums of law, as well as correspondence and reports as needed by thoroughly and appropriately researching applicable law. Submit/send/file documents in a timely manner.

4.Effectively engage available resources and actively seek out new resources to properly represent and advocate for our clients' bests interests, including but not limited to:

  • Caregivers, including group home staff;
  • Medical providers;
  • Mental health professionals;
  • Educational resources;
  • Community based services providers, such as Voices for Children, Regional Center, The San Diego LGBTQ Center, Cultural Broker Program, etc.; Other legal experts or consultants;
  • Public Defenders, District Attorney's and Probation Officers in Delinquency Court.

5.Develop professional relationships with and provide sound advice to clients through the use of frequent age and language appropriate communications that adhere to ethical standards. Follow up on client requests and court orders to ensure that clients receive appropriate services in a timely manner.

6.Maintain professional effective working relationships with bench officers, courtroom personnel, social workers, caregivers, attorneys, CASAs and service providers.

7.Treat clients, clients' caregivers and family members from diverse backgrounds with respect and cultural humility.

8.Contribute to a culture of race equity and inclusion, and ensure cultural, sexual orientation and gender identity and expression (SOGIE,) religious and racial awareness and sensitivity.

9.Maintain professional relationships with all CLS coworkers.

10.Effectively manage his/her caseload by:

  • Opening and closing files in a timely manner;

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor Degree and a member in good standing of the State Bar Association of California.
  • Prior experience in juvenile law or trial experience required.

Warehouse & Process Coordination

  • Coordinate FTZ receiving, storage, segregation, and shipping activities with warehouse teams

Qualifications & Experience

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, International Trade, Logistics, or a related field
  • At least 2-3 years of experience in FTZ operations
  • Working knowledge of CBP regulations (19 CFR Part 146) and FTZ procedures
  • Experience with FTZ software and/or customs broker systems
  • Strong customer service, communication and business development skills

We are seeking a Clinical Research Coordinator I to support the Naval Health Research Center (NHRC), Operational Infectious Diseases (OID) Directorate by coordinating and managing clinical research studies.

The OID Directorate conducts ongoing, laboratory-based surveillance of US military populations in unique environments to quantify and study the etiology of infectious illnesses. Test specimens are collected from ongoing surveillance programs and from special investigations of febrile illnesses and pneumonia among military personnel or civilians (recruits, forces afloat, deployed forces, outbreaks of concern, and border populations). In addition to the utilization of portable, rapid assay technologies to identify pathogens in the field, test specimens and limited epidemiologic data, when approved by the Institutional Review Board (IRB), are provided to the NHRC laboratory where diagnostics and, in some instances, in-depth pathogen characterization is conducted. Results are provided to sponsors, the Armed Forces Health Surveillance Center, local investigators and collaborators, and, when applicable, county health units to guide proper responses that ultimately affect both the readiness of US forces and the safety of public health.

Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities

  • Patient Recruitment and Consent: Identifies, recruits, and obtains informed consent from potential study participants in compliance with study protocols and ethical guidelines.
  • Help lead recruitment efforts, developing and refining strategies to meet enrollment targets.
  • Make independent decisions about how to target and select participants, and whether a potential participant meets eligibility criteria.
  • Manage and coordinate complex clinical trials: Handle complex logistics of trials, solve problems related to compliance or participant concerns, and make adjustments to protocols based on emerging situations during the study.
  • Study Protocol Design and Oversight: Interprets study protocols, assessing feasibility, and modifies procedures to align with the objectives of clinical trials.
  • Study Visits: Coordinates and conducts study visits, including patient interviews, sample collection, and other protocol-driven procedures.
  • Data Collection and Entry: Accurately collects, records, and manages study data. Ensures timely data entry into the Clinical Trial Management System (CTMS).

  • Ensure that the research team follows procedures. Troubleshoot and resolve any deviations or challenges that may arise.
