While every day can provide different experiences and opportunities, a Paralegal supports attorneys with drafting, serving, and responding to discovery, as well as trial preparation. The office allows for collaborative environments with experienced peer mentors. There are no billable hours in this opportunity. This role provides diversity of work and the opportunity for career development. This role will interact with clients, experts, and witnesses throughout the litigation process. The position is classified as a hybrid role, meaning that the work arrangement calls for hours in the office and virtually. Everyone in a hybrid role is required to spend time in the office.  Work arrangements could change over time based on business needs. Hours for the position are Monday-Friday 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM or 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM.

The team is comprised of multiple roles and levels including Legal Administrative Support, Legal Secretary, and Paralegal.  

Paralegal responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist attorneys in discovery and pre-trial matters under attorney supervision
  • Assist attorneys in handling assigned case files and delivering other legal services under attorney supervision
  • Prepare cases for court appearances, depositions, and trial including contacting experts and clients
  • Involvement with medical record collection, medical record and billing summaries, and medical chronologies
  • Draft motions and pleadings

Qualifications

The Senior Associate will be responsible for managing a caseload involving complex legal issues surrounding emerging technology, AI, data privacy and misuse, as well as other complex consumer class actions. Candidates must possess excellent writing skills, with the ability to draft clear, persuasive, and well-structured briefs, motions, and memoranda that require minimal editing, as well as the ability to independently take depositions, present oral arguments, and argue motionsThe ideal candidate will have substantial experience handling key dispositive motions, including motions for summary judgment and motions for class certification, and the ability to independently manage major phases of class action litigationThis is an opportunity to be mentored by industry thought leaders, to creatively pursue interesting cases, and to champion causes that meaningfully impact ordinary people’s lives and the world. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 


· Evaluating new cases; preparing and reviewing case proposals 


· Conducting legal research 


· Developing and recommending case strategy 


· Drafting motions and briefs in file-ready form 


· Overseeing filing process for motions and briefs 


· Preparing, finalizing, and serving stipulations, discovery letters, joint statements, and proposed orders 


· Corresponding with co-counsel, opposing counsel, court personnel, and clients as necessary 


· Drafting, propounding, reviewing, and responding to discovery; managing discovery disputes 


· Preparing for and taking/defending depositions 


· Attending mediations, arbitrations, and court hearings 


· Taking argument at mediation, arbitration, and court hearings 


· Attending and/or leading team and firm meetings 


· Adhering to all deadlines (internal and court mandated) 


· Administrative duties as they relate to the practice of law

Education and/or Experience 


· 5+ years of Litigation Experience

Reports to Project Executive. Construction experience is a MUST, with a background in structural concrete highly preferred.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Works as a team with Project Superintendent.
  • Manage assigned Project Engineers
  • Ensures the project is planned and staffed according to the budget
  • Regularly walk job sites to monitor production and constantly implement improvements.
  • Hold weekly meetings with the Project Team to review project data and ensure successful completion

  • Participate as requested in the marketing, estimating, bidding and contract negotiations phases of assigned projects.
  • Prepares and submits monthly, weekly progress reports and cost reports.
  • Represent company/project in meetings with client, subcontractors, etc. as required.
  • Review and approve all purchases and ensure Purchase Order/Buy Out process is followed.
  • Performs other tasks as directed by supervisor.

Position Requirements

  • Structural concrete construction experience is a MUST
  • B.S. degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Urban Planning, or relative field
  • 8+ years or more experience in managing projects
  • Thorough knowledge of contract documents, materials, equipment utilization, scheduling systems/computer software, productivity analysis, construction operations, and cash flow procedures.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal (tact, diplomacy, influence, etc.) skills essential.
  • Computer literate with Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, Vista Viewpoint and Primavera software.
  • Periodically travel around Southern California.
