L3Harris Space and Mission Systems has a need for an Integrated Product Team Lead (IPTL) and Control Account Manager (CAM) Project Engineer (PE).

This critical position leads the development and delivery of cutting-edge Space-based payloads and sensors for remote sensing, missile warning and track, and space warfighting within technical, cost, and schedule objectives of a project baseline throughout all phases of the program life cycle.

This role is responsible for full lifecycle Project Engineering support for a range of software and hardware development, assembly, and integration and test efforts.

The position is critical to our warfighter customer to ensure delivery of crucial space products! Essential Functions: Responsible for successfully leading a project team to meet customer requirements within allocated cost and schedule commitments.

Develops, oversees, and coordinates the cost/schedule/technical aspects of an ongoing engineering project within the program guidelines set by the Program Manager and customer.

Reviews status of engineering projects and budgets, manages schedules, drives execution, identifies opportunities, and delivers results through achieving payment milestones.

Assesses engineering issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and customer-satisfaction goals and objectives.

Identifies, tracks, mitigates, manages, and dispositions program-level risks and opportunities.

Estimate resource and material needs for the project/product.

Provides the coordination between resource managers/supervisors and ensures all necessary reviews and approvals are received.

Understands how to develop a schedule using Earned Value (EV) and manage a project using the Earned Value Indicators on a DCMA surveilled program (highest rigor applied).

Participate in small teams and perform a wide variety of tasks to drive execution (e.g., value stream mapping activities) Must have ability and willingness to work in a collaborative team environment on quick reaction projects and will have regular contact with customers.

Must be able to get a program SAP security clearance Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience.

Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience.

What You Will Do:

Job Description

• Setup and operate one machine tool or process equipment type and operate more than one unrelated machine tool or process equipment types within an assigned area to produce precision turbine engine parts.

• Perform work where methods, procedures and processes are well developed and the required tooling, gaging and fixturing are provided.

• Under the direction of leader/supervisor, work from verbal and written instructions, operation sheets, drawings and other pertinent information. Following established methods and procedures, use manual or numerically controlled machine tools such as milling, boring, grinding, turning, broaching and shaping machines to achieve the required dimensional specifications.

• Use a variety of media, dry or liquid, to perform cleaning or part preparation and finishing operations. Operate tumbling, grit blast, shot peen, buffing and polishing equipment, wash machines and dip tanks for part surface conditioning.

• Apply masking as required. Perform applications of anti-gall and polymite coatings utilizing dry bake ovens to cure.

• Utilize a variety of fixed or variable measuring instruments to check dimensions and part features. Operate OpCert and other computer–based systems to retrieve and store information and records.

The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for improving production efficiency through improvements in production processes. This role involves researching and developing new manufacturing technologies to reduce costs, improve safety, reliability, and quality. The Cost Estimator is responsible for analyzing project requirements and preparing accurate cost estimates for steel tube products, fabrication, and related services. This role involves evaluating tubular dimensions, specifications, technical drawings, material requirements, labor, production processes, and market pricing to support competitive quoting, profitability analysis, and strategic decision‑making.

Key Responsibilities

Estimating & Analysis

• Prepare detailed and accurate quotations for PTG’s tubular products, including raw materials, processing, fabrication, packaging, and transportation.
• Review prints, specifications, and customer requirements to determine material dimensions, tolerances, and manufacturing needs.
• Apply production times, labor rates, equipment usage, and overhead allocations.
• Evaluate supplier quotes for raw steel, coatings, finishes, and outsourced services.
• Maintain cost models for various steel tube sizes, grades, and manufacturing scenarios.
• Conduct post‑project or post‑quote variance reviews by comparing estimated vs. actual costs and update cost models accordingly.
• Perform cost‑related risk assessments and develop alternative pricing scenarios based on material volatility, production constraints, or changing customer requirements.

Quoting & Pricing

• Prepare customer quotes and proposals within required timelines.
• Ensure pricing aligns with company margin guidelines, market conditions, and cost fluctuations.
• Collaborate with sales, purchasing, and operations to confirm pricing strategies and feasibility.

Data & Documentation

• Maintain a database of historical cost information, supplier pricing, and industry benchmarks.
• Track steel market price trends and adjust estimates accordingly.
• Document all estimate assumptions, data sources, and calculation methodologies.

Cross‑Functional Collaboration

• Work closely with engineering and production teams to identify cost‑saving opportunities.
• Identify and recommend process improvements, alternative materials, or production methods that reduce cost while maintaining quality and feasibility.
• Coordinate with purchasing to validate material availability and updated pricing.
• Support management with budgeting, forecasting, and profitability analysis.
• Interact with Sales and customers to ensure all customer needs are met.

Qualifications

Required

• Experience in cost estimating, preferably within steel manufacturing, metal fabrication, or industrial products.
• Strong understanding of steel tube specifications such as gauge, alloy grades, tolerances, and forming processes.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings (CAD experience a plus).
• Proficiency in Excel or estimating software.
• Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
• Accounting education.
• Bachelor’s Degree.

Preferred

• Background in manufacturing, industrial engineering, or supply chain.
• Experience with ERP or MRP systems.
• Knowledge of welding methods, cutting, bending, and finishing processes related to steel tubular products.
