This role is the primary service and maintenance contact for Trane Technologies customers in a defined market with a diverse commercial base including Healthcare, Process Manufacturing Facilities, Education Institutions, and Office Complexes. You will be commissioning, troubleshooting, repairing, and starting up HVAC systems in a commercial environment. In order to perform your task you will utilize your knowledge of air conditioning theory, pipe fitting, and mechanical layouts. What you will do:
Coordinates with team leader/project manager and customer to precisely understand requirements for all on-site installation and repairs by forecasting issues, gathering materials and synchronizing on-site work.
Represents the company by serving as the direct customer contact and is responsible for products and equipment on assigned projects, ensuring customer satisfaction by identifying, diagnosing and repairing equipment and systems at customer’s location.
Uses cutting edge software and technology, along with a variety of hand-tools, following blueprints or engineering specifications, to diagnose and repair units.
Displays team effort and dedication to customers by maintaining flexibility to work overtime and weekends as the business requires, including occasional overnight stays.
Continually enforces safety to the highest standards and maintains security and accountability of company issued and procured assets by recording use, wear and conditions.
What you will bring:
A High School Diploma or equivalent required, and typically 5 plus years of experience in HVAC. Technical School or formal training is preferred.
Operating knowledge of Microsoft office software and working proficiency with hand held computer (i.e. Smartphone, iPad).
Must possess a valid driver’s license for a minimum of 12 months, with no major or frequent traffic violations including, but not limited to: DUI, Hit & Run, License Suspension, Reckless / Careless Driving or multiple smaller infractions or preventable collisions in the previous 3 years.

ABOUT THE POSITION
Under general supervision of the Engineering Director/Manager, the job of the Hydraulic Design Engineer is responsible for design efforts from inception through production in new product development or existing product design.
The Hydraulic Design Engineer will work in collaboration with other engineers, cross-functional teams not limited to sales, manufacturing, purchasing, and service. They will develop conceptual and final design solutions manage and coordinate project activities, support existing product offerings, and perform testing or analysis of new and existing products to further Astec’s product line development goals.
This Hydraulic Design Engineer’s scope of work will focus on Hydraulically Controlled equipment such as track screening and crushing, mobile mining, portables, asphalt milling and paving, track and mobile and forestry, and stationary equipment.
The preferred work location is Yankton SD.
Deliverables and Responsibilities:
· Perform hydraulic design engineering as it relates to Astec product development and improvement projects.
· Effectively use 3-D CAD to model designs and use other engineering tools like Automation Studio to optimize solutions
· Create, check and maintain thorough engineering specifications and drawings
· Manage engineering changes per establish company procedures
· Interact with production personnel to define and solve manufacturing and/or design issues and implement cost reduction ideas with regards to the product
· Use root cause analysis and other problem-solving skills to determine opportunities to improve products and implement corrective actions.
· Responsible for achieving due dates and pre-defined requirements defined by management
· Be a technical resource as needed to support other departmental needs such as operations, quality, purchasing, service, et cetera
To be successful in this role, your experience and competencies are:
· Minimum of bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Agriculture, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering or related field
- · Minimum 5 years’ experience in equipment design and manufacturing (mechanical, structural, hydraulic and electrical/control system design)
- · Ability to work positively and productively both individually and with cross-functional teams, customers, and vendors.
- · Good organization and time-management skills with ability to adjust to sudden changes in project/priority and manage multiple tasks
- · Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment on a customary and regular basis
· Effectively work with sketches, marked-up prints and verbal instructions to drive concept to solution
· Ability to independently create & validate hydraulic circuits using simulation software such as Automation Studio.
· Demonstrate technical and written skills to document ideas, designs and concepts
· Ability to create and maintain complex hydraulic schematics.
· Ability to interpret customer drawings, specification drawings, and other applicable specifications to determine requirement and/or feasibility of component
· Develop design concepts to meet required cost objectives including involvement with supply chain operations to provide technical information for the selection of components.
· Ability to develop and/or guide necessary computations such as load development, stress analysis, performance measurement, hydraulic circuit analysis, costing, etc. and interpret the results as necessary
· Ability to lead DFMEA’s.
· Researches industry standards to stay abreast of latest applicable requirements. Performs GAP analysis on standards.
- · Proficient with personal computing, Microsoft Office Suite, 3-D CAD software applications (SolidWorks preferred) and ERP systems (Oracle preferred)
- · Document assigned tasks as required

The Hydraulic Design Engineer will work in multiple environments including those listed below.
Office
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to risk of injury in an office environment and occasionally a manufacturing shop plant environment. Duties include a typical office setting including extensive computer work, sitting or standing. Manufacturing Environment
Shop manufacturing environment exposures include exposure to moving mechanical parts, machinery, tools and equipment, vibration, fumes or airborne particles, motorized vehicles, welding and machining operations, outside weather conditions and exposure to the risk of electric shock. The employee may occasionally be exposed to varying levels of dirt, dust, toxic or caustic chemicals, very warm and/or very chilly temperatures. The noise level in the shop can be very loud at times consistent with an industrial assembly facility and may require hearing protection. Job Title: Design Engineer II
Department: Product Development
Reporting to: Engineering Division Manager
SUMMARY:
Design Engineer II is responsible for the design, development, and implementation of new manufactured products and proprietary equipment as well as improvement to existing products.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Originates and/or develops product designs relating to defined customer needs as well as proprietary products in new to market applications; collaborates with Sales and Management to develop new business opportunities.
- Utilizes conventional engineering principles to provide comprehensive engineering studies of components, weldments and assemblies suited to meet detailed product performance specifications.
- Identifies, evaluates, and recommends materials and production processes to optimize product performance and manufacturing efficiency.
- Plans and directs product testing requirements, if not previously specified by the customer.
- Perform design for manufacturability reviews, Bill of Material management, and cost evaluations.
- Provide engineering support to Manufacturing, Purchasing, Sales, Marketing, and Management Teams.
- Maintain detailed management of engineering documents, designs, evaluations, and related materials.
- Coordinate with Production and Operations teams to ensure the timely completion of development projects.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- Proficient creating parts, assemblies, and drawings with design software i.e. SolidWorks, Inventor, AutoCAD
- 4 or more years of Engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Prior experience with ERP management software is required.
- Experience working in welding, sheet metal fabrication, hydraulics or plastics molding is preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Position requires the ability to react, move about, install, remove, replace, and lift objects up to 50 lbs. Position may require the use of automobiles, ATV’s, test equipment, mechanical and electrical devices, tools, and computers. At times you will be required to wear Personal Protective Equipment when entering production areas and working near moving equipment and machinery. May be exposed to noise, dust, and cold/hot temperatures when working in production or prototype areas.

Work is generally performed in an office environment with some time spent in production environments.
