Electrical Preconstruction Manager

Position Overview:

Our client is seeking an experienced Electrical Estimating Manager to lead projects during the preconstruction phase for data center construction. This role is ideal for a motivated professional with strong technical knowledge, leadership skills, and a passion for delivering accurate, efficient, and client-focused preconstruction services, specific to specialty contracting.

Key Responsibilities:

• Serve as the lead project manager during preconstruction, overseeing RFPs, estimates, design coordination, BIM, procurement, budgeting, deliverables, and client communications until the project transitions to construction management.
• Provide conceptual budgets and cost tools to support project qualification and business development.
• Coordinate and manage the estimating process for bids, including document review, bid strategy, and bid review meetings.
• Perform estimating, value engineering, and other client-requested pricing exercises as needed to meet deadlines.
• Manage subcontractor and vendor relationships, ensuring alignment with project scope and budgets.
• Assist business development with contract review, legal considerations, and risk management.
• Act as the primary point of contact for clients during preconstruction, attending meetings, conducting project interviews, and providing technical guidance.
• Track design changes, cost impacts, and change orders throughout the preconstruction phase.
• Manage project financials, including engineering and BIM budgets, billing SOVs, and establishing project budgets from estimates.
• Coordinate design activities with consultants, engineering teams, and subcontractors, ensuring deliverables meet project requirements and quality standards.
• Lead and mentor preconstruction team members, delegating tasks, reviewing work for accuracy, and providing guidance to improve performance.
• Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and refine preconstruction processes and best practices.
• Guide project managers during the design phase to ensure construction aligns with specifications, codes, and client expectations.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Business, or Engineering preferred.
• Must have 8+ years of experience in construction, preferably in estimating, with a minimum of 2+ years of preconstruction management/leadership within electrical construction.
• Experience with electrical contracting and/or MEP coordination.
• Proficiency in electrical estimating, project budgeting, and cost management.
• Software knowledge in ConEst, Google Workspace, Excel, and Bluebeam.
• Experience managing design-build projects.
• Strong technical knowledge combined with excellent communication and client management skills.
• Ability to manage, mentor, and lead team members effectively.
• Proven record of safe, reliable, and integrity-driven work practices.

We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team and help design and optimize cranes, attachments, and related equipment tailored for the rail industry.

This role requires a deep understanding of the unique challenges of railway construction, including heavy lifts, track maintenance, and complex logistics. You will collaborate with a skilled engineering team to create designs that prioritize safety, efficiency, durability, and compliance with industry standards. Key considerations include load capacity, stability, reliability, ease of maintenance, and maneuverability along railway tracks.

Responsibilities include structural analysis, material and component selection, and ensuring equipment performance and safety throughout its lifecycle.

Work Schedule

This position follows a 9/80 work schedule and is primarily based in Chesterfield, Virginia. When supporting the Aftermarket Group, approximately 80% of your time will be at our Richmond location, with one dedicated day per week at Chesterfield headquarters.

As a first responder to the railroad industry, all Cranemasters employees are considered on call for emergency support. Engineering management may request support outside normal hours to meet urgent operational needs.

Key Responsibilities

Product Development

• Design: Develop new crane structures, overhaul existing designs, and create hardware for enhanced functionality. Apply abstract thinking, visualize 3D concepts from 2D drawings, and perform reverse engineering when needed.
• Testing: Validate designs through calculations, modeling, and prototyping. Conduct field testing to simulate real-world conditions, identify issues, and ensure compliance before full implementation.

Aftermarket

• Rebuild Projects: Lead inspections, refurbishments, and rebuilds of high-tonnage cranes and related machinery. Plan and execute repairs and upgrades to meet safety and industry standards.
• Technical Support: Provide technical assistance to customers and internal teams, troubleshoot issues remotely or on-site, and ensure optimal equipment performance.

Production

• Catalog Design Updates: Implement iterative design improvements for standard equipment models. Coordinate releases with management and manufacturing teams based on production schedules.
• Compliance & Delivery: Ensure all builds meet customer specifications and regulatory standards. Complete documentation, testing, and final handoff of equipment.

General Responsibilities

• Problem Solving: Apply critical thinking and collaborate across teams to resolve technical challenges.
• Ownership of Design: Oversee designs through manufacturing and testing phases, adapting quickly to changes.
• Product Knowledge: Maintain expertise in Cranemasters' equipment and stay current with industry best practices and safety regulations.
• Customer Engagement: Communicate effectively with customers, providing updates and addressing inquiries.
• Quality Assurance: Work with project managers and foremen to uphold quality standards during rebuilds and production.

Electrical Engineer - Data Centers - Northern Virginia / D.C. Area (Hybrid)

This Electrical Engineer position will specialize in data center facility design to be embedded directly with a major end-user client.

Responsibilities:

• Assessing third-party and colocation facilities being considered for acquisition, evaluating their suitability against the client's portfolio requirements.
• Taking ownership of power systems across all project phases, identifying and resolving issues as they arise in collaboration with the relevant client stakeholders.
• Reviewing data center designs with a critical eye on redundancy architecture, availability targets, and potential single points of failure.

Background Required

• Degree-qualified in Electrical Engineering; a postgraduate qualification or PE license would be a strong advantage.
• At least five years working within mission-critical environments, with solid hands-on exposure to colocation and multi-tenant data center projects specifically.
• Confident in power systems analysis and the software tools that come with it.
• Practical experience across the full electrical distribution stack — from high voltage transformers down to branch circuits — covering design, procurement, commissioning, and operations.
• Comfortable working across disciplines and engaging with structural, mechanical, civil, and IT/Telecom teams as needed.
• Grounded in US electrical codes and standards, with some awareness of IEC standards beneficial.

The role of Plant Foreman provides leadership of quarry operations for our night shifts at our Richmond locations. Provide general supervision for and perform a variety of tasks involved with the extraction, crushing, conveying and stockpiling of aggregate stone products. Supervise the service, maintenance and repair of equipment, machinery, and associated facilities. Schedule time and resources for special projects within area of responsibility. Maintain a clean and safe work environment.

The hours for this position are 4pm-4am Monday-Thursday

We are looking for an experienced leader in experimentation methodology to join our core Applied ML team. The Applied AI and Machine Learning team handles large-scale data to support many business areas. We develop a cohesive navigation experience across channels and web pages. Our goal is to simplify and improve the shopping experience for everyday entrepreneurs worldwide, helping them quickly find what they need on our website.

In this leadership role, you will enhance the strategic direction of our experimentation methodology efforts. You will use simulations and reinforcement learning, ensuring consistency with business objectives, and supporting cross-functional teams in data-informed experimentation solutions. You will guide teams working at the intersection of large-scale foundation models, multi-agent systems, and RL-based optimization, encouraging a culture of collaboration, innovation, and technical excellence.

What you'll get to do...

• Define and drive the strategic roadmap for AI driven experimentation methodology, aligning initiatives with organizational goals and business impact
• Supervise and mentor teams of scientists and engineers, providing technical guidance and career development
• Promote meticulous experimentation, including the development of simulation environments and robust evaluation frameworks using machine learning and RL
• Collaborate with product, engineering, and business teams to translate research outcomes into scalable, production-ready experimentation solutions
• Facilitate knowledge sharing and cultivate a collaborative, innovative environment across the Applied ML team and broader organization

Your experience should include...

• 3+ years of professional experience managing and leading high-performing teams, including mentoring and coaching team member to achieve organizational goals
• 5+ years of professional experience in experimentation methodology, Reinforcement Learning, and software development 
• 2 + years of professional with experimentation platforms, data pipelines, and analytical tools to guide methodological rigor
• A deep understanding of statistical principles, causal inference, and experimental design for large-scale digital products
• A track record of partnering effectively with experimentation platform teams, product managers, and business stakeholders to drive data-informed decision-making
• 5+ years of professional experience translating complex statistical concepts into actionable insights for technical and non-technical audiences
• The ability to define and implement a vision for experimentation best practices across diverse product areas

You might also have...

• Master's in computer science or equivalent quantitative fields
