Job Description:

As a member of the technical staff, the Design Engineer is responsible for the design of electrical distribution transformers. This includes specification reviews, design reviews, product development, cost savings analysis, quotes and quality and reliability improvements. The engineer will provide technical support for Marketing and external customers and also be responsible for factory support.

Minimum Requirements: Bachelors in Electrical Engineering

Preferred Requirements:

• Electrical Power Systems, Electrical Machines, Electromagnetic Fields Concentration and/or previous work experience with design of electrical transformers
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products (Excel, Word, and Access)

Divisional Plant Engineer Job Duties & Primary Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on technical leadership to multiple plant locations driving improvements in reliability, process control, and other pertinent KPI's.
• Create necessary CAD drawings for equipment layout, process control, fabrication and assembly of components.
• Familiar with pneumatic, hydraulic, steam, and boiler systems and controls.
• Must have exceptional operational knowledge of process equipment and the ability to make logical decisions concerning the operation, maintenance and modification of process equipment with minimal supervision.
• Experience with project management and implementation from the initial planning stages to completion on time and within budget.
• Develop project scopes, budgets, and timelines for capital and expense projects with input from stakeholders.
• Prepare project justifications and formal authorization requests for capital projects generally over $100,000.
• Commission new production equipment, controls, and processes, and monitor modifications and upgrades.
• Familiar with control loops and control strategies to support troubleshooting and optimization of existing controls and processes.
• Independently evaluates, selects and applies standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria, using judgment in optimization of processes and products involving modifications to facilities, equipment, methods and materials.
• Where appropriate, select and supervise external contractors and consultants to ensure they meet the requirements for function, cost, timing, and quality.
• Works with process, quality, production, and manufacturing personnel to develop and implement process changes necessitated by new technology or improvements to current technologies.
• Make observations and take measurements directly, as well as collect and interpret data from other technical and operating staff involved to develop and implement process improvement.
• Works with maintenance departments to develop proactive maintenance procedures and programs for the facilities and process equipment.
• Travel 25% to the other two locations (Sylacauga, Alabama & Franklin, Ohio). Expected travel requirement is minimum of 30%, potentially higher during project implementations.

Divisional Plant Engineer Additional Required Skills & Qualifications: (include computer, language, mathematical, and analytical skills required)

• Advanced analytical skills and creativity in solving problems and troubleshooting.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written, verbal and presentation), with the ability to effectively work with various levels in a team environment
• Strong organizational skills to manage multiple short and long-term projects.
• Competent with Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Project
• Familiar with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
• Knowledge of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) (ControlLogix/ RS logic) is preferred.

Divisional Plant Engineer Supervisory Responsibilities

• This position has no direct internal supervisory responsibilities.
• Supervises and directs outside contractors during the construction and commissioning phases of capital projects.

Divisional Plant Engineer Education: (include Certificates, Licenses, or Registrations required)

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or similar technical discipline.
• Minimum of ten (10) years' hands-on work experience in a manufacturing environment with a proven track record of measurable results.
• Demonstrated initiative and the ability to handle complex assignments and be proactive.
• Experience in building materials or paper manufacturing is preferred.
• Experience in process batching and coating technology is preferred.

The Industrial Engineer will be responsible for making process improvements through collection and analysis of manufacturing data to improve safety, product quality, customer delivery, and cost reductions. Provide on-floor process information for training and meeting engineering standards. Support and provide production associates with the tools required to perform the job in a manner to meet all requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities

May include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Leading and directing technical activities are necessary to solve problems encountered from blending through shipping. Ensure the team takes the necessary steps through effective communication and proper documentation to avoid similar problems in the future
• Develop & maintain process guidelines (SOP/SOC) and training programs for the integration of new products and systems
• Reduce process variation (improve process capability) to ensure consistent product quality and adherence to manufacturing standards
• Lead cost reduction initiatives through materials, product, and process improvements; assist the project teams to hold brainstorming sessions and develop action plans for the Profit Improvement Process (PIP), including activities to reduce utilities consumption, cycle times, scrap, downtime, material usage variance, and direct labor
• Act as a technical resource in Continuous Improvement Tools to plant and PIP project leaders: Lean Manufacturing/Toyota Production Systems, Six-Sigma, 5S/6S, Total Productive Maintenance, Kaizen Events, Value Stream Maps, DOEs, FMEAs, Advanced Problem-Solving, SMED, etc., and assist in their implementation in an efficient manner for individual projects
• Participate in the updating of manufacturing standards as a result of performance improvements
• Develop work cell layouts in an effort to optimize material flow and support 5S and visual management initiatives
• Initiate new equipment and technologies to maintain the company's competitive advantage; including detailed scope definitions with the plant (capabilities, throughput, and equipment controls including function block diagrams, process parameters, and data acquisition requirements), RFQ documents, and execution timeline plans (including facility preparation, installation, H&S, training, production ramp-up, etc.).

• 10+ years of experience of manufacturing work experience
• High volume, continuous manufacturing environment

About the Role: The Production Manager is responsible for the direct supervision and leadership of the shop floor This is a hands-on role focused on managing the day-to-day activities of the production floor – overseeing welders, fabricators, assembly and painting personnel.

Responsibilities:

Operations & Manufacturing

• Oversee all daily plant operations of heavy manufacturing plant; welding, fabrication, assembly paint, maintenance, etc..
• Manage production schedules to meet customer delivery commitments while optimizing labor and equipment utilization.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives using lean manufacturing principles to reduce waste, improve cycle time, and increase throughput.

Safety & Compliance

• Serve as the primary driver of safety culture transformation on the shop floor – model safe behaviors daily and hold all personnel accountable to a zero-compromise safety standard.
• Assess the current state of the safety program and develop a structured improvement plan with measurable goals, timelines, and ownership to address gaps in culture, behavior, and compliance.
• Build trust with the workforce by engaging employees directly in safety conversations, soliciting input on hazards and near-misses, and ensuring concerns are acted upon visibly and promptly.
• Implement and sustain proactive safety practices including daily pre-shift safety briefings, job hazard analyses (JHAs), behavior-based safety observations, and structured toolbox talks.
• Establish clear leading indicator metrics (near-miss reporting, hazard identification, safety observation rates) alongside lagging metrics (TRIR, DART) to track program progress and drive accountability.
• Lead thorough root cause analyses for all incidents and near-misses; develop corrective action plans and track to closure, sharing learnings across the shop floor.
• Partner with the Safety department to develop and deliver role-specific safety training programs that build competency and reinforce cultural expectations.

People & Team Leadership

• Recruit, hire, train, and develop a team of welders, fabricators, machinists, and support staff.
• Conduct regular performance reviews; provide coaching and disciplinary action as needed.
• Foster a collaborative and respectful work environment that promotes accountability and employee engagement.
• Coordinate with HR on workforce planning, compensation benchmarking, and labor relations.

Financial & Business Management

• Manage the plant operating budget; monitor costs, control variances, and identify savings opportunities.
• Prepare and present regular KPI reports (on-time delivery, scrap rate, safety metrics) to senior leadership.
• Evaluate capital equipment needs and develop business cases for plant investment.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 10 years of progressive manufacturing/fabrication experience, with at least 5 years in a plant or operations management role.
• OSHA 30-Hour General Industry or Construction certification (required within 90 days of hire).
• AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or demonstrated oversight experience with certified welding programs.
• Proven ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, weld procedures (WPS/PQR), and material test reports (MTRs).
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills with experience managing teams of 25+ employees.
• Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems and standard MS Office applications.

Required Skills:

• Experience in heavy equipment manufacturing.
• Six Sigma Green Belt or Lean Manufacturing certification.
• Prior experience managing a multi-shift fabrication operation.

The Plant Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing production and facility equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations.
