In the Yale Health Department of Ob/Gyn, our physicians provide high quality, seamless, coordinated and compassionate care at every patient encounter at Yale Health. They deliver the full spectrum of general obstetrical and gynecologic care, including outpatient, inpatient, and emergency care, as well as managing labor and delivery patients and performing gynecologic surgery at Yale New Haven Hospital. They consult with and refer to subspecialists and coordinate care as appropriate. Each physician has an individual panel of patients and is readily available as backup for their colleagues' patients, seeing walk-in and call-in patients as needed. The physicians work closely together and with the department's highly trained Ob/Gyn nurses, and they engage collaboratively with medical assistants, receptionists, and other front-line staff. They are key voices in department meetings and participate in departmental initiatives and quality improvement projects.

While at the hospital, the physicians are actively involved with the education and training of Yale Ob/Gyn residents and Yale medical students on their Ob/Gyn clerkship, and they may seek an academic appointment as voluntary faculty in the Yale School of Medicine. The OB/GYN physicians participate in call duty that averages 1:6 to 1:7, with a full post-call day off.

The department averages 450 deliveries per year.

Schedule:

Full time, generally weekdays, between 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Participates in on-call rotation that includes early mornings, evenings, and weekends, and participation in holiday/recess coverage is also required.

Opportunity Highlights:

  • Connecticut Children’s is the state’s only stand-alone children’s hospital. The clinic in Fairfield County is critical to the clinical growth strategy for Connecticut Children’s urology service and will serve as an anchor program for the brand, with a reach of approximately 1.5 million pediatric patient lives.

  • The joining urologists will work in an outpatient practice housed in Connecticut Children’s new multi-specialty clinic in Westport, CT.   • Medical directorship appointment will be considered after one year of faculty service in Westport.

Job Summary

Provides basic clinical and clerical support in the delivery of patient care within the Medical Assistant (MA) scope of education. The Medical Assistant experiences continued training of all aspects of the role.

  • Provides direct patient care under direction of provider, including but not limited to vitals, allergy/medical reconciliation, screenings, placing event monitors, patient history, health maintenance, advance directives and virtual health.
  • Provides indirect patient care related to the MA scope of education including but not limited to scheduling, check in/out, referrals, chart prep and prior authorizations. Conducts point of care testing including quality control and documentation.
  • Performs administrative duties and covers front desk based on business needs.
  • High level disinfection is a primary duty requiring demonstrated proficiency. Training will be provided.
  • This role provides coverage at regional offices bringing variety to your workday and the chance to collaborate across multiple teams and communities.
Qualifications

Education:

  • Diploma from an accredited Medical Assistant program OR an active CT CNA, EMT, Paramedic or Medic Certification OR relative experience as outlined below.
  • Certified BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 3 Months (90 days) of hire date or job transfer date.
  • All required credentials to be maintained throughout employment.

Experience:

  • In lieu of education requirement, at least one year of experience in direct patient care (acute or ambulatory space) may be considered.
  • Relevant experience or MA externship in a busy medical office preferred.
  • EPIC EMR experience preferred.
