We are seeking a board-certified or board-eligible Anesthesiologist for a locum tenens assignment in South Carolina starting May 1, 2026. This opportunity offers 24-hour clinic and surgical coverage with shifts from 0700 to 1530 EST, seven days a week, supporting a variety of operative and procedural cases.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Provide comprehensive anesthesiology services for cardiac, orthopedic joint replacement, vascular, thoracic, neurosurgical, plastic, ENT, urologic, and ophthalmologic operations
  • Deliver anesthesia care for patients undergoing electroconvulsive therapy and procedures in cardiac catheterization, electrophysiology, gastrointestinal, and radiological suites
  • Offer primary coverage for patients in surgical intensive care, short stay unit, acute and chronic pain management, and emergency airway management
  • Perform diagnostic transesophageal echocardiography for medical and surgical patients
  • Provide consultative services at the bedside for non-ambulatory patients and in the clinic setting for ambulatory patients
  • Adhere to all established medication policies and procedures, with no sample medications provided
  • Deliver discharge education and follow-up instructions coordinated with the next care setting
  • Ensure timely communication of test results in accordance with VHA directives


Additional Information

  • Board Certification or Board Eligibility in Anesthesiology required (ABA)
  • Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required
  • All continuing education for certifications must be current and verifiable annually
  • Must be licensed to practice medicine in any state
