Clinical Psychologist (Health) - GS- Goodfellow AFB, TX
Goodfellow Air Force Base is a nonflying United States Air Force base located in San Angelo, TX, United States. As part of the Air Education and Training Command, Goodfellow's main mission is cryptologic and intelligence training for the Air Force, Space Force, Army, Coast Guard, Navy, and Marine Corps. Military firefighters are also trained here as part of the 312th Training Squadron. It is the home of the 17^th Training Wing. The base is named for World War 1 aviator First Lieutenant John J. Develops, implements, evaluates, and manages assigned health psychology Service programs and activities for appropriate assessment, evaluation, and treatment of patients. Provides clinical guidelines for the selection of patients. Plans and recommends allocation of staff and resources, Service priorities, procedures, and work schedules. Subspecialty areas within health psychology include, but are not limited to, primary care, psychosocial oncology, pain management, and sleep medicine. Incumbentβs duties may be exclusively in one area, or across subspecialties, based on mission requirements. Participates in assigned quality improvement and utilization management programs or initiatives. Responsible for ensuring compliance with regulatory, MTF, and Joint Commission quality inspection/peer review/utilization management requirements, applicable system applications, and representation for Service leadership team at meetings, etc.
2. CONSULTATION AND DIRECT SERVICES
Provides professional consultation to specialty medical departments within the MTF, regarding the identification and diagnosis of complex psycho-social cases, involving medical complications requiring multiple specialty care management. Performs clinical duties within the health psychology specialty, including individual/group interventions and rapid-focused assessments of newly diagnosed medical and clinical patients. Functions independently in completing evaluations, making complex diagnostic decisions and recommendations regarding medical patients, to a multi-disciplinary medical team/tumor board, consisting of physicians, social workers, nursing staff, and others, regarding continuity of care and treatment compliance. Provides consultation to health care providers from a wide range of specialties. Independently prepares reports, based on a wide range of diverse and complex data. Develops and implements specialized programs and services for medical patients and persons with traumatic life events. Identifies areas of need and conducts functional assessments to determine appropriate services to provide; implements such procedures, as appropriate. Provides behavioral science interventions to a wide range of patients, referred for treatment. Applies specialized knowledge of a variety of specialty interventions, appropriate to meet the psychosocial oncology needs of assigned tertiary care facility. Conducts clinical research and maintains up-to-date knowledge of specialized professional literature and scientific findings. Participates in Institutional Review Board (IRB) approved research protocols. Develops, implements, maintains, and monitors outcome measures for the service.
3. TRAINING
As directed, provides clinical and administrative oversight to staff and trainees. Plans and delivers presentations and lectures as part of consultation to the medical staff. In accordance with mission requirements, provides professional training in areas of established competence or expertise. Training may be provided to personnel enrolled in a variety of professional programs, sponsored by the medical center. Programs include psychology, psychiatry, and other medical specialties at the pre- and postdoctoral levels. Specific duties and time requirements depend on the goals of the training program, the extent of traineesβ skills and knowledge, the intensity of oversight required, the number of trainees enrolled, and available faculty resources.
PERFORMS OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes providing consultation and/or assessment of patients with health psychology issues; conducting individual and/or group interventions; and collaborating with healthcare professionals. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
License: The Clinical Psychologist position requires a current, active, valid, unrestricted clinical license to practice Psychology independently, offered by a U.S. State, District of Columbia, commonwealth, territory or jurisdiction.
