Materials Manager

Location: Chicago, IL – River North

Role and Responsibilities:

The Materials Manager is responsible for overseeing the company’s supply chain and materials operations. Reporting to the Operations Director, the role ensures materials are procured, stocked, and distributed to meet production needs efficiently. Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop and implement materials management strategies based on production requirements.
  • Source, negotiate, and manage supplier relationships; purchase materials according to specifications and demand.
  • Monitor and optimize inventory levels to prevent overstock or shortages.
  • Coordinate receiving, warehousing, and distribution of materials and finished goods.
  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and sales to align supply with operational schedules.
  • Recruit, supervise, and mentor a team of materials professionals.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, OSHA safety standards, 5S practices, and applicable regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Operations, or related field.
  • 5+ years’ experience in materials management, procurement, or supply chain, preferably in manufacturing.
  • Strong proficiency in ERP and MRP systems and Microsoft Office.
  • Demonstrated leadership and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Compensation:

  • Salary range: $100,000–$120,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
  • Annual discretionary bonus based on company and individual performance.
