Building Maintenance Worker

Exact Staff is seeking a dedicated Building Maintenance Worker to support our client in maintaining and improving public housing properties in Merced.
This 3-month temporary position is ideal for individuals with general maintenance experience and a willingness to perform hands-on work across multiple trades.
Location: Merced, CA 95341 Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM (Enjoy every other Friday off) Pay Rate: $20.00 an /hour Job Type: Temporary Assignment (3 Months) Driver’s License: Valid California Driver’s License & clean driving record required You’ll be responsible for everything from basic repairs and janitorial duties to skilled work in plumbing, carpentry, electrical, and groundskeeping.

Key Responsibilities Perform routine maintenance and repairs in housing units and public areas Respond to tenant service requests and complete work orders efficiently Maintain cleanliness in shared spaces such as laundry rooms and hallways Conduct landscaping tasks: mowing, edging, trimming, and weed control Repair or install doors, fixtures, flooring, windows, and cabinetry Troubleshoot and fix plumbing issues (clogged drains, leaky faucets, etc.) Replace light fixtures, electrical switches, and outlets Prep and paint interior/exterior surfaces Maintain and service appliances like stoves and water heaters Handle minor locksmith duties (key cutting, lock replacement) Assist with inventory, inspections, and emergency response as needed What You Bring High school diploma or equivalent preferred Experience in maintenance, construction, or related trades a plus Skilled with hand and power tools; comfortable with physical tasks Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., climb ladders, and work indoors/outdoors Reliable, proactive, and able to work both independently and in a team Must pass a background check and submit a clean DMV record Hiring Requirements: Valid identification that proves your right to work in the United States As a condition of employment, you may be required to pass a drug screen and background check Work Environment Combination of indoor and outdoor tasks in various weather conditions Exposure to noise, cleaning supplies, and mechanical tools May require occasional response to urgent issues outside regular hours Apply Today!
