Principle Responsibilities & Position Purpose:

Maintain the upkeep of guestrooms, meeting space, and public area ceilings, walls, crown molding, trim, chair rails, baseboards, and doors. Along with the ability to match paint colors and stain colors. Must have the ability and knowledge to prep and stain/treat any surface or piece of furniture. Must have the ability to perform drywall repairs, install drywall, and tape and float any joints.

Example Of Duties:

Essential Functions:

  1. Repair and/or maintain Guest Rooms, which will include plunging toilets, unclogging drains, repairing all types of hardware, plumbing, electrical equipment including lamps, air conditioners, cosmetic items, replacing electrical switches and outlets and programming TV's.
  2. Repair and/or maintain Public Areas, which will include plunging toilets, unclogging drains, repairing and/or adjusting all types of hardware, plumbing, electrical, HVAC equipment and cosmetic items.
  3. Be knowledgeable on fire alarm/life safety system, which will include monitoring the system as necessary, to be fully informed of the system operation and to handle emergencies involving the systems. To have a working knowledge of fire sprinkler and emergency power systems.
  4. Energy Conservation will be a main priority by observing energy and utilities usage in the hotel and on the grounds. To look for ways to conserve energy and report any ideas to the Engineering Management.
  5. Clean, lubricate, protect and otherwise maintain all tools and equipment in the hotel. To see that all tools used are returned to the shop and secured in proper storage area. To protect and otherwise maintain your assigned tool pouch and its tools at the discretion of the Engineering Management.
  6. Be available for any emergencies and act in an engineering capacity to protect our guest and associates, and preserve the building and its systems during the emergency. To act as quickly and responsibly as possible to return the building to its normal operating status. To inform Engineering Management of any such emergencies.
  7. Be aware of all existing departmental Job Safety Analysis and to strive to work in an accident-free manner and to create a safe work environment for others. To continuously look for conditions which may endanger associates or guests of the hotel and to take immediate action to correct any hazardous conditions found.
  8. To read, log, track and interpret readings from meters, gauges and other measuring units. To maintain a thorough log of each day's activities and problems that occur and to ensure this information is passed on to other shifts.
  9. Complete all work assigned in a safe and professional manner. Maintain communications with supervisors to ensure that all needed materials, tools and supplies are available or on order. Follow up on any items that may be on back order. Keep supervisor updated on assignments. Provide training and technical advice to other engineers as needed or requested.
  10. Perform any painting task given by Engineering management, such as paint walls, paint doors, paint trim, paint ceilings, texture ceilings, paint baseboards, paint crown molding, and paint chair rails.
  11. Perform any stain task given by Engineering management, such as stain doors, stain wall panels, stain trim, stain crown molding, stain baseboards, and stain furniture.
  12. Perform any drywall repair task given by Engineering management, such as prep, patch, sand, and paint a hole in the drywall. As well as install new drywall and tape & float joints when required.
  13. Maintain the paint materials and paint supplies/tools in good working condition.
  14. Maintain the work space and storage in clean fashion.
  15. Maintain a par level of paint and supplies/tools to perform any task given by Engineering management. Report any materials and supplies/tools needed to successfully complete the task in a timely manner.

Supportive Functions:

In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by management based upon the particular requirements of the company.

  1. Log all absenteeism and employee lateness
  2. Clean engineering areas as directed by Engineering Management
  3. Maintain communication with supervisor to ensure that all need materials, tools and supplies are available or on order
  4. Other duties as required

Other Duties: Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established by Flik from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position.

Grooming: All team members must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance (specific standards available).
