The Opportunity
As a dedicated auto adjuster, within defined guidelines and framework, you are responsible to adjust moderately complex auto insurance claims presented by or against our members to include the end-to-end claims process and settling claims in compliance with state laws and regulations. What you'll do:
Investigates liability and applies appropriate coverage, evaluates, negotiates, and settles moderately complex auto claims.
Negotiates liability for comparative negligence (claimant or adverse carrier).
Identifies coverage concerns, reviews prior loss history, determines, and creates Special Investigation Unit (SIU) referrals, when appropriate.
Interacts with multiple parties to gather information needed to determine liability (police reports, recorded statements, witness statements).
Resolves claims through proactive problem solving and decision making, within authority guidelines and under moderate supervision, overcoming obstacles, and effectively prioritizing the workload.
Clearly documents thought process including damage evaluation, investigation, negotiation, and settlement decisions
Collaborates and sets expectations with external and internal business partners to facilitate claims resolution.
Supports members, business partners, and claimants, through use of varying communication channels to include utilization of digital tools to drive timely and effective resolutions through exceptional service.
Applies developing knowledge of P&C insurance industry products, services, to include P&C insurance policy contracts, coverages and internal claims handling process and procedures.
Applies intermediate knowledge of Auto Physical Damage to adjust claims.
Supports workload surges and catastrophe (CAT) response operations as needed, including mandatory on-call dates and potential evening, weekend, and/or holiday work outside normal work hours.
May be assigned CAT deployment travel with minimal notice during designated CATs.
Works various types of claims, including ones of higher complexity, and may be assigned additional work outside normal duties as needed.
Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.

The Opportunity
It is all about learning and growing. Our Insurance Customer Service role may be a new career for you. There's a lot to learn, but the journey is mapped out and USAA is willing to invest in you! Our comprehensive, fully paid six-month training program includes all training materials, class discussions, hands-on training, e-learning modules, and the instructor led guidance will help you to support our membership independently. We also pay for all licensing costs!
Our in-office development program provides the training you need and the encouragement to create a proactive and independent support style to service our membership.
After six months in-office, you'll have the opportunity to work offsite 2 days a week. The actual onsite days are settled between each employee and their manager.
We have various schedules ranging from 8:00 am CST to 10:00 pm CST with two days off. These roles include a shift differential of 15% for weekday hours worked after 6:00 pm local time and any hours worked on Saturday or Sunday.

As part of our licensing training program, you are required to obtain a property and casualty license for your state of residency by your third week of employment. We provide all study materials and pay for up to 3 licensing exam attempts. During your first 90 days, we will also provide you with resources to acquire additional state licenses to better serve our members.

The Opportunity

After six months in-office, you'll have the opportunity to work offsite 2 days a week. The actual onsite days are settled between each employee and their manager.
We have various schedules ranging from 8:00 am CST to 10:00 pm CST with two days off. These roles include a shift differential of 15% for weekday hours worked after 6:00 pm local time and any hours worked on Saturday or Sunday.

Experience working directly for a standard insurance carrier handling claims from start to finish (first notice of loss, reviewing policy, making coverage decisions)
Proficient in using estimating platforms and virtual inspection tools like Xactimate, ClaimXperience and XactAnalysis
Insurance industry designations such as AINS (Associate in General Insurance), CPCU (Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter), AIC (Associate in Claims), or SCLA (Senior Claims Law Associate) or actively pursuing
Active Property & Casualty adjuster license
Currently reside in the Colorado Springs area, enabling quicker response times for local claims and a better understanding of regional risks
US military experience through military service or a military spouse/domestic partner
Physical Demand Requirements:
May require the ability to crouch and stoop to inspect confined spaces, to include attics and go beneath homes into crawl spaces.
May need to meet all USAA safe driving requirements including verification of driving record through MVR & possession of valid driver’s license.
May require the ability to lift a minimum of 35 pounds to include lifting a ladder in and out of the trunk of a car.
May require the ability to climb ladders and traverse roofs, this includes the ability to work at heights while inspecting roofs and attics.
Compensation range: The salary range for this position is: $72,080 - $129,740.
