POSITION SUMMARY

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Formal Education / Training
Graduate of an approved School of Radiologic Technology and subsequent Accreditation through The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. Must be in compliance with CE Requirements.
BLS is required within 90 days of hire.
Workplace Experience
Preference of one year work experience in hospital after graduation and accreditation; however, willing to train.
Equipment and Skills Training
Possesses general knowledge of many types of x-ray equipment and computers. Will train on specific equipment and processes utilized at Williamson Health.In addition, has had previous training in fluoroscopy, surgery, and routine studies and willing to perform those functions daily.
Physical Environment
Radiation safety and universal precautions practiced in a multi modality imaging department.

Possesses the ability to perform multifunctional tasks to include: physically manipulate and operate equipment, assist in the movement of patients from wheelchairs and stretchers to table; bend, twist, stoop; lift 20 pounds; communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing; make appropriate judgment decisions in urgent or emergency situations; and demonstrate emotional stability and psychological health in day to day interaction with fellow employees, patients, their families, and physicians.
PERFORMANCE STANDARDS
- Checks patient identification and physician order to ensure accuracy of request before proceeding with study.
- Questions female patients (ages 12-50) regarding the possibility of pregnancy and properly documents information in record.
- Questions all patients who receive intravenous contrast media and documents information regarding allergies and medical history.
- Provides proper radiation safety protection for all persons, to include self. Follows ALARA, IMAGE GENTLY AND IMAGE WISELY.
- Strives to maintain the dignity of each patient by ensuring the patient is properly covered at all times; during exam and patient transport.
- Seeks opportunities to assist in other areas during downtime periods and always makes good use of time.
- Checks often on patients waiting in hallways to ensure that the patient is covered and comfortable (Pain Management).
- Shows leadership and teamwork in difficult situations and makes appropriate decisions.
- Volunteers for overtime and fill-in when needed.
- Ensures the safety of patients by following all safety procedures while moving patients from wheelchair or stretcher to table and observing patient while on radiology table.

Summary:The Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Technologist will perform a wide variety of routine and advanced imaging procedures, will provide support for other imaging technologists as needed, and help to facilitate smooth and efficient patient flow. The MRI Technologist will demonstrate flexibility by working other shifts and/or at other campuses as needed or required. The Technologist must be able to troubleshoot basic maintenance, participate in QA, and resolve issues related to image processing and the image archiving system. Job Summary and Qualifications
The Radiology Technician performs radiographic procedures using fixed and portable units in the imaging department, nursing units, and operating suites. Assists physicians in fluoroscopy using fixed and portable units. Practices radiation safety and observes universal precautions at all times. - Education: Graduate of a program in radiologic technology approved by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association or documented equivalent education.
- Licensure: Current certification by the American Registry of Radiology: Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) as an RT(R) or eligible for registry.
- Note: Registry eligible applicants must obtain certification within 6 months of hire.
- BCLS certification required.
- Experience: Ability to perform radiographic/fluoroscopic procedures following accepted standards and departmental protocols.

Responsibilities
An Imaging Technician III maintains complex medical equipment through effective implementation of the Mayo Clinic Medical Equipment Management Plan. The technician must demonstrate technical skills and tasks associated with the installation, maintenance, calibration, repair and QA of x-ray, imaging, nuclear medicine, radiotherapy, and imaging-related systems typically found in Radiology, Surgery and Cardiology.
Technicians in this position must be exceptionally customer focused with outstanding communication and interpersonal skills. They must be able to prioritize service calls appropriately and adhere to Mayo policy and procedure. The technician must adhere to rules, regulations, and policies regarding radiation safety, stored energy safety, and contingency plans in the event of equipment failure. They must also carefully monitor the potential for radiation exposure and work to eliminate unnecessary exposure. They must have advanced analytical skills and be able to solve very complex technical issues in a timely manner.
Service calls are communicated to the technician through HTM Leadership, HTM Support Specialists, or a CMMS dashboard. Emergent calls directly from the customer often require a rapid response time. On-call, overtime, and non-standard shifts will be required, as well as travel to other Mayo Clinic sites and applicable vendor training.
The technician must be committed to continuously improving their knowledge to develop a mastery of increasingly complex equipment and to support the mission of Mayo Clinic.
A Technician III will have a mastery of imaging repair principles, can demonstrate success in the most complex of imaging repairs, and will often work with and share knowledge with less experienced technicians.
Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Electronics/Healthcare Technology Management, Electronics, Mechatronics, or Engineering (mechanical/computer/electronics) and 3 years of related experience; or an Associate's degree in Biomedical Electronics/Healthcare Technology Management, Electronics, Mechatronics, Engineering (mechanical/computer/electronics), or technical discipline and 5 years of related experience; or U.S. Military training in biomedical electronics, mechatronics, or engineering (mechanical/computer/electronics) and 5 years of related experience. Related experience includes role-relevant equipment repair with a demonstrated increase in responsibility and exposure to highest complexity equipment and must include at least 3 years of maintaining imaging or x-ray systems.
