Unit Summary:
The Medical-Surgical Overflow Unit (MSOU) is a dynamic, fast-paced environment designed to accommodate patients from various medical-surgical specialties when primary units reach capacity. As a Registered Nurse in the MSOU, you will provide high-quality, compassionate care to a diverse patient population, ensuring continuity and safety during transitions of care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality nursing care to patients.
- Monitor vital signs, administer medications, and respond to changes in patient conditions promptly.
- Collaborate with physicians, specialists, and the healthcare team to develop and implement individualized patient care plans.
- Educate patients and their families about their medical conditions, treatment plans, and post-discharge care.
- Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes in accordance with hospital policies.
- Participate in unit-based quality improvement initiatives and maintain compliance with safety standards.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Experience in correctional health care, psychiatric nursing, or nursing in an emergency environment is preferred. Prior knowledge or experience within the University Health System’s nursing services and/or certification as a Certified Correctional Health Care Provider (CCHP) is also preferred.
LICENSURE
Must possess a current license to practice Vocational Nursing in the State of Texas. Must also maintain current CPR certification.

This Emergency Department Registered Nurse opportunity is part time, offers full benefits and a convenient night shift schedule. We are looking for a dynamic experienced ER Registered Nurse who will provide direct and indirect patient care to our patients with compassion and respect. You will communicate with physicians about changes in patient’s clinical condition. Is able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment.
