The division manages children and young adults with a full range of hematology and oncology diagnoses. We are an active member of the Children’s Oncology Group, seeing 50-60 new oncology patients per year. Our multidisciplinary team includes dedicated CRAs, Pharm. The Retail Pharmacist is responsible for dispensing and controlling both prescription and non-prescription medications. The Retail Pharmacist reviews prescriptions and compounds and dispenses drugs according to regulatory requirements and guidelines in a retail environment.

Responsibilities

• Enter, fill, check patient orders

• Checking dosage and ensuring that medicines are correctly and safely supplied and labeled

• Advising patients about medicines, including how to take them, what reactions may occur and answering patients’ questions

• Supervising the preparation of any medicines

• Review and interpret prescription orders to verify accuracy and appropriateness

• Collaborate with healthcare professionals to optimize patient care plans

• Selling over-the-counter medicines

• Counseling and advising the public on the treatment of minor illnesses

• Dispensing prescription medicines to customers

• Oversee the ordering and storage of medical products to ensure safety and compliance with regulations

• Manage pharmacy staff and oversee day-to-day operations

• Keep up-to-date records of patients’ prescriptions

• Monitor the health and progress of patients in response to drug therapy
