General Description
Assists teachers, counselors, staff, parents, probation officers, and agencies by providing a safe learning environment for at-risk students who are in a juvenile court and/or community school or community day school. Combines instruction support, and tutoring to students in a strictly monitored setting.

Specific duties and responsibilities

• Provide instructional support in core academic and vocational subjects to students; prepare and may develop age- and grade-appropriate instructional aids and exercises to support the subject matter being taught.

• May perform student intakes; proctor and conduct state-mandated assessments of students to establish baselines, determine academic needs and placement, and measure progress; score objective tests; keep appropriate records, using electronic student information systems; ensure confidentiality of student information.

• Assist with daily screening for weapons, banned substances, and paraphernalia; escort students going from one location to another; monitor student activity in and between classroom, lunchroom, restrooms, and recreational areas throughout the school day, including dismissal time; monitor classroom activities during brief absence of a teacher.

• Observe, monitor, and redirect the behavior of students within approved procedures; reinforce behavior modification techniques determined by the teacher; develop and use incentives as positive reinforcement; document behavioral incidents and report them to site supervisor; participate in consultations with parents and staff on behavioral interventions for students; use appropriate discipline in accordance with school safety plan, school rules, and teacher's assessment.

• As part of the instructional team: support communication with parents to facilitate students' success in a restorative justice environment; provide input to teachers and specialists on student performance, progress, and behavior; may participate in parent-teacher conferences; may be assigned to contact designated Probation officials when resolution cannot be reached with students and parents.

• Perform other duties as assigned that support the overall objective of the position.

Education and Experience
Education: Possession of a high school diploma and passing score on a rigorous assessment examination demonstrating knowledge and ability to assist with instructing children/students in reading, writing, and mathematics; 48 or more semester units of higher education will substitute for the competency assessment exam.

Knowledge of:

• principles and practices of age-appropriate child development and guidance applicable to a court or community school setting

• principles and practices of positive reinforcement

• core subjects taught in the schools served by SBCEO, including English language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies, with sufficient competency to assist students with individual or group studies

• teaching and instructional methods

• basic clerical and record-keeping processes.

Skill in:

• using personal computers, audiovisual, and other equipment to support learning, record information, and send communications

• working productively and cooperatively with teachers, staff of other agencies, students, and parents in formal and informal settings.

Ability to:

• assist teaching staff with implementation of instructional goals and activities

• support and interact with students who have a variety of behavioral needs

• apply principles of positive reinforcement

• manage students' verbal and physical behavior in a constructive manner

• learn juvenile court system, including both dependency and delinquency processes

• learn system of care for youth in the juvenile justice system

• learn educational and community resources available for students and families

• interact with teachers, administration, Probation staff, parents, and specialists in order to carry out assigned duties

• oversee students, administer assignments and tests, and perform general clerical tasks

• relate positively to students in a way that builds confidence, provides them with strategies to manage their own behavior, and helps them achieve learning goals

• exercise patience when conveying information to students having difficulty with verbal and written communications

• demonstrate sensitivity to a diverse population of students and families

• communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Some positions in this classification may require proficiency in a language other than English or basic competency in American Sign Language.

Licenses and certificates

May require a valid California driver's license. May require a valid First Aid card, CPR certification, and/or certification in Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI).

Working conditions

Some positions in this classification are assigned to work in a juvenile detention facility. Work is performed indoors and outdoors with some exposure to health and safety considerations from physical labor and exposure to body fluids. Requires the ability to perform indoors in an office, classroom, or recreational environment engaged in work of primarily a sedentary to a moderately active nature. Requires near visual acuity to read and write printed materials and computer screens. Requires hearing and speech ability for ordinary and telephonic conversation, to converse with individuals and small groups. Requires the ability to move about office, classroom, and school grounds, to tutor, assist with presentations, and teach work materials. Requires ability to walk with student groups during PE classes and to escort students at dismissal. Requires sufficient manual and finger dexterity to demonstrate teaching aids, to point out important words/figures to students, and to operate personal computers. Requires the ability to lift, carry, push, and move supplies, fixtures, wheelchairs, etc., of light-to-medium weight (under 50 pounds) on a regular basis, and heavy weight (under 75 pounds) without labor saving equipment on an intermittent basis.

The Community Health and Well Being Team is looking to hire a PRN Medical Assistant for our Mobile Health Clinic that visits rural locations across the Treasure Valley!

• The mobile health clinic offers healthcare and vaccination services in rural and underserved communities in Western Idaho and Eastern Oregon – migrant farms, homeless shelters, patient homes, etc.

• In this MA position you would be working with marginalized and underserved populations; many do not speak English as their first language.

• This clinic operates like an Urgent Care model working with a provider and RN.

• The PRN position will not qualify for benefits, but qualifies for retirement and employee discounts.

• Full orientation and training will be required including in-person classes at our Boise Regional Medical Center. Some flexibility may be needed to complete the required training.

• As the MA you will be performing rooming, patient intakes, point of care testing, administering vaccinations, and assisting with provider exams, along with diabetes and heart screening.

• Duties also include follow up with the patients and troubleshooting social determinants to ensure health and well-being.

• You will also drive the RV after you have been trained in its operation.

• An ideal candidate is someone who enjoys leadership opportunities and would be comfortable with this type of clinic setting.

• In addition, being bilingual in Spanish and having a medical interpreter certification is preferred, but not required.

Some other things to know about this position are:

• This is a mobile unit, there can be significant drive time to the clinic location with some set up.

• There is also a lot of movement of items in and out of the RV/vans so lifting and carrying is required.

• Some clinics run into the evening or on weekends (with pay differentials).

• Weather is sometimes a factor, either for driving or at clinic. It can be, and has been, cold/hot at clinics. We do our best to mitigate with equipment, etc.

• There will be real time documentation in our medical record (Epic) with follow-up work after clinics required – patient results review and notification, provider communication, etc.

• Performance and competency training of basic clinical skills: vitals, point of care testing, venipuncture, assisting with procedures, ear lavage, etc.

• 5 clinics per month will be conducted. This position will work 2 of those shifts per month.

• The clinic rotates Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, 1 per month and will operate 8:00am - 5:00pm.

• The other clinic days are still being determined, but may be offered on an occasional Saturday.

• Pay differentials offered for weekend shifts when available.

• Most clinics will be located in Canyon County.

• Will offer clinics in Ontario/Baker once a month.

• May be adding new locations in the Boise area in the future.

• Locations are subject to change based on patient care needs in the community.

• Will be at least 2-3 full days each week in the first two weeks, plus self-paced e-learning.

• Includes EPIC Training, Quality Orientation, POC test training, and immunization training.

• High School Diploma or equivalent required at hire.

• MA certification required within 90 days of hire from one of the following Saint Alphonsus approved agencies:

• Medical Assistant with Experience: 1 Year of MA experience OR Current MA Certification OR obtain or renew certification within 90 days from hire from approved credentialing agencies listed above.

• Basic Life Support for Healthcare providers certification from either AHA, ARC or the Military Training Network is required at hire.

• *Obtaining the MA certification typically requires completing an MA Program or working as a Medical Assistant for at least 1 year. See each of the credentialing organization sites for additional details. EMT and CNA certifications will not count towards an MA certification.

The Community Health and Well Being Team is looking to hire a PRN Medical Assistant for our Mobile Health Clinic that visits rural locations across the Treasure Valley!

• The mobile health clinic offers healthcare and vaccination services in rural and underserved communities in Western Idaho and Eastern Oregon – migrant farms, homeless shelters, patient homes, etc.

• In this MA position you would be working with marginalized and underserved populations; many do not speak English as their first language.

• This clinic operates like an Urgent Care model working with a provider and RN.

• The PRN position will not qualify for benefits, but qualifies for retirement and employee discounts.

• Full orientation and training will be required including in-person classes at our Boise Regional Medical Center. Some flexibility may be needed to complete the required training.

• As the MA you will be performing rooming, patient intakes, point of care testing, administering vaccinations, and assisting with provider exams, along with diabetes and heart screening.

• Duties also include follow up with the patients and troubleshooting social determinants to ensure health and well-being.

• You will also drive the RV after you have been trained in its operation.

• An ideal candidate is someone who enjoys leadership opportunities and would be comfortable with this type of clinic setting.

• In addition, being bilingual in Spanish and having a medical interpreter certification is preferred, but not required.

Some other things to know about this position are:

• This is a mobile unit, there can be significant drive time to the clinic location with some set up.

• There is also a lot of movement of items in and out of the RV/vans so lifting and carrying is required.

• Some clinics run into the evening or on weekends (with pay differentials).

• Weather is sometimes a factor, either for driving or at clinic. It can be, and has been, cold/hot at clinics. We do our best to mitigate with equipment, etc.

• There will be real time documentation in our medical record (Epic) with follow-up work after clinics required – patient results review and notification, provider communication, etc.

• Performance and competency training of basic clinical skills: vitals, point of care testing, venipuncture, assisting with procedures, ear lavage, etc.

• 5 clinics per month will be conducted. This position will work 2 of those shifts per month.

• The clinic rotates Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, 1 per month and will operate 8:00am - 5:00pm.

• The other clinic days are still being determined, but may be offered on an occasional Saturday.

• Pay differentials offered for weekend shifts when available.

• Most clinics will be located in Canyon County.

• Will offer clinics in Ontario/Baker once a month.

• May be adding new locations in the Boise area in the future.

• Locations are subject to change based on patient care needs in the community.

• Will be at least 2-3 full days each week in the first two weeks, plus self-paced e-learning.

• Includes EPIC Training, Quality Orientation, POC test training, and immunization training.

• High School Diploma or equivalent required at hire.

• MA certification required within 90 days of hire from one of the following Saint Alphonsus approved agencies:

  • American Association of Medical Assistants (CMA)

  • American Medical Technologists (RMA)

  • National Healthcareer Association (CCMA)

  • National Center for Competency Testing (NCMA)

  • National Association of Health Professionals (NRCMA)

  • American Medical Certification Association (CMAC)

  • National Phlebotomy Certification Examination (NPCE MA)

• New Graduates: 1) MA certificate of completion required from an accredited program or school. 2) Completion of either a 100-hour MA externship or 6 months MA experience in lieu of the externship hours even with MA certification.

• Medical Assistant with Experience: 1 Year of MA experience OR Current MA Certification OR obtain or renew certification within 90 days from hire from approved credentialing agencies listed above.

• Basic Life Support for Healthcare providers certification from either AHA, ARC or the Military Training Network is required at hire.

• *Obtaining the MA certification typically requires completing an MA Program or working as a Medical Assistant for at least 1 year. See each of the credentialing organization sites for additional details. EMT and CNA certifications will not count towards an MA certification.

As a Registered Nurse at MercyOne, you will provide and direct safe, effective, and culturally competent care for patients with acute medical and surgical conditions. Through evidence-based practice, utilizes critical thinking to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate outcome-based care. The Acute Care RN manages a diverse patient population with varying levels of acuity, including post-operative, medical, telemetry, and neurologic patients. Supervises and coordinates care provided by LPNs, Patient Care Assistants, and other nursing team members. Facilitates communication with physicians, patients and families, and interdisciplinary team members. Essential Functions:

• Conducts assessment

• Identifies patient problems and develops plan of care

• Implements outcome/goal - based plan of care

• Evaluates patient progress and revises the outcome/goal - based plan as needed

Schedule: 

• Night Shift, .6 FTE (24 hours per week)

• RNs work 12-hour shifts 

• Day shift: 6:00 am – 6:30 pm, Night shift: 6:00 pm – 6:30 am 

• Every third weekend

• This unit self-schedules. Schedules are 6-week blocks

Minimum Qualifications:

• Associate degree in nursing required

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

• Possession of a current or compact state licensure as a Registered Nurse issued/defined by the State of Iowa

• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) required

• American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required only if the unit has telemetry monitoring capabilities

• Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter – Child and/or Dependent Adult Abuse training within three (3) months of hire
