About The Role

We are looking for a reliable and experienced Mechanical & Controls Technician, capable of installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, minor programming, and repair of electrical, mechanical, and automated control systems in an industrial or manufacturing environment. This position combines electrical, mechanical, and controls knowledge, ensuring systems function within design parameters safely and efficiently at our Shaw Bakers’ manufacturing facility in San Leandro.

Core Responsibilities

Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

• Controls & Electrical Duties: Troubleshoot and repair electrical and electronic systems, motor controllers, variable frequency drives (VFD), servo systems, and motor starters. Diagnose PLC alarms and repair or replace sensors, actuators, input/output modules and other control devices as required.
• Vendor Coordination: Point of contact with vendors for PLC hardware/software issues or upgrades, and general mechanical and electrical equipment repair.
• Mechanical Duties: Inspect, maintain, and repair mechanical systems, including motors, pumps, compressors, conveyors, production machinery, and related equipment. Perform diagnostic tests, identify faults, and implement repairs or part replacements. Ensure preventive maintenance procedures are followed to minimize downtime.
• Documentation & Compliance: Maintain detailed records of maintenance, diagnostics, calibrations, and system modifications. Prepare technical reports, schematics, and manuals. Ensure all work adheres to safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
• Training and Support: Providing technical expertise and hands on training and development for operators and maintenance techs on an ongoing basis.

Skills & Experience Required

• 5+ years of Industrial Control Systems Maintenance required, including hands-on experience with motor controls, VFDs, servos, DeviceNet, and PLC troubleshooting.
• 5+ years of Mechanical Maintenance, including troubleshooting, from a manufacturing or industrial environment required.
• Technical Skills: Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical blueprints, wiring diagrams, and pneumatic/hydraulic schematics. Proficient with diagnostic tools. Strong troubleshooting skills for both mechanical and electrical systems.
• Knowledge of automation software and HMIs a plus.
• Experience with Ladder logic programming a plus.

The Project Controls Coordinator is required to establish and maintain a control database following the Project Baseline. Responsibilities/Duties: Establish project specific budgets and work break down structure (WBS). Develop the projects controls database using our proprietary software. Establish and assign activity codes to the work elements and track project cost and progress by charge code. Create a comprehensive, properly linked CPM schedule. The Senior Manager of Inventory Control & Quality provides strategic and operational leadership across two critical functional in Greenfield, Indiana. This leader is accountable for establishing and sustaining best-in-class inventory accuracy across a food-grade 3PL environment, while concurrently owning the administration and continuous improvement of the facility's food safety management system through FSSC 22000 certification and ongoing compliance.

This role requires a practitioner — someone equally at home interpreting cycle count variance data and leading a food safety audit preparation — who brings external industry benchmarks and modern inventory control methodology to a team that is technically experienced but primed for structured development. The position reports to the Director of Continuous Improvement and carries direct supervisory responsibility for the inventory control function.

Key Responsibilities

INVENTORY CONTROL LEADERSHIP

• Define and own the facility's inventory accuracy strategy, including cycle count methodology, variance thresholds, root cause analysis protocols, and corrective action workflows
• Establish and track key performance metrics including net unit accuracy, location accuracy, and shrink attribution by root cause category
• Lead integration and optimization of drone-assisted cycle count operations, partnering with technology vendors and WMS teams to build sustainable, paper-light workflows
• Develop and administer formal standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all inventory control functions — receiving, putaway, pick confirmation, cycle counting, and adjustments
• Build inventory control team competency through structured training, performance feedback, and accountability frameworks
• Analyze variance trends and present findings and corrective actions to senior leadership in a clear, datadriven format

QUALITY & FOOD SAFETY MANAGEMENT

• Own the ongoing administration, compliance, and continuous improvement of the FSSC 22000 food safety management system post-certification
• Serve as the facility's primary point of contact for internal and external food safety audits, including Stage 1 and Stage 2 FSSC 22000 certification audits
• Partner with the quality systems contractor during program build-out to ensure deep ownership of all documentation, HACCP controls, and prerequisite programs
• Maintain document control discipline across all quality records, corrective action reports (CARs), and food safety monitoring logs
• Lead internal audit preparation, gap assessments, and mock audit exercises
• Drive food safety culture across the facility through training, communication, and visible leadership

CROSS-FUNCTIONAL & LEADERSHIP

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive experience in inventory control, warehouse operations, or supply chain management in a 3PL, food-grade distribution, or co-manufacturing environment
• Demonstrated experience managing inventory KPIs including net unit accuracy, cycle count compliance, and variance root cause analysis
• Working knowledge of food safety management systems — FSSC 22000, SQF, AIB, or equivalent certification framework
• Experience with WMS platforms and technology-enabled inventory processes; exposure to automated or drone-assisted cycle counting a strong plus

• Perform pickup, rework, authorized changes, and functional checks on work typically installed or assembled by lower classifications.

• Use a tension meter to set cable tension according to specifications.

• Conduct reaming and riveting as necessary to complete work assignments.

• Report job handicaps, such as errors in parts, materials, or assembly procedures, following shop procedures.

• Select appropriate parts, materials, and tools, and work with blueprints, assembly pages, and work orders to install and adjust cable-controlled systems in the aircraft.

• Disassemble parts and deburr holes to prepare for fastener installation.

• Install cable control pulleys and rig control cables according to drawings and specifications.

• Check and adjust actuator motors for full travel of flight control systems using power sources and hand tools.

• Clean the work area and ensure the removal of Foreign Object Debris (FOD) and submit completed jobs or in-process checks to inspectors as required.

Position Responsibilities:

• Independently operate and adjust numerically controlled Tape Laminator machines according to established shop practices and procedures.

• Prepare for job setup by reviewing production orders, work orders (W/O), and setup documents, ensuring access to blueprints and drawings.

• Verify that the correct materials and tools are issued and free from visible defects before starting work.

• Identify the type of machine setup needed based on drawings and work orders, including flat tape laminating machines and automated fiber placement machines.

• Check machine setups and parts completed by previous operators to ensure safe working conditions and job progress.

• Prepare machines by obtaining materials from storage and performing necessary processes before operation, such as rolling tackifier and laying fiberglass.

• Use precision measuring instruments, such as dial indicators, to align and level the layup table as required.

• Retrieve and download CNC programs to the machine controller from the mainframe server.

• Set machine coordinates and adjust offsets, tool heights, and laser settings using the controller keyboard or pendant.

• Run the machine to lay graphite plies, copper ampe plies, and perform hand trimming and rework as necessary.

• Monitor machine operations for unusual vibrations or sounds, checking gauges and displays for warnings.

• Move finished parts and tools using appropriate material handling equipment as required.

• Handle and dispose of hazardous materials in accordance with safety regulations and using personal protective equipment.
