Department Information

The College of Computing was established in 1990 as the first such College at a public university and the second in the United States. Since that time, the college has grown into a world-class leader in research and education. The graduate CS program is currently ranked 6th and the undergraduate 5th nationally by U.S. News and World Report. The College consists of five Schools that provide specialized and general computing education to the entire campus. With over 16-degree programs, including its world-renowned online MS in CS, we believe the College to be the largest Computing unit in the United States and, as such, one of the largest producers of computationalist at all levels and of all demographic backgrounds. Job Summary

Provide support services in the operation and maintenance of an academic or research laboratory to include performing analyses; setup, operation, maintenance and cleaning of equipment; and maintaining stock of supplies. Specific duties will be determined based on assignment and unit needs. Responsibilities

Job Duty 1 -
Setup, operate and maintain instruments and other equipment used in performing lab tests and experiments.

Job Duty 2 -
Order supplies and materials as required; maintain records.

Job Duty 3 -
Setup laboratory media/equipment for demonstrations.

Job Duty 4 -
May clean instruments, glassware and other lab equipment.

Job Duty 5 -
Prepare and process laboratory samples for use in assigned tests.

Perform other duties as assigned

  • Able to maintain a consistent schedule, including every other week overtime.

- Hours: Hours: Monday-Friday, 7:30 am ? 4:00 pm; plus call requirement (2-3 days during the week and up to 2 weekends a month and rotating holidays)

What you will do:

As a team member, the Cardiac Cath Lab Registered Nurse works with the Cath Lab staff and Electrophysiology Staff as a liaison between patient, family and cardiologists. Performs in various capacities, including circulating nurse and scrub nurse for both Cath and EP Lab. Involved with patient teaching as well as other related duties as assigned.

- This position will be split between the Cardiac Cath Lab and Electrophysiology Lab. Some call is required.
- Maintains responsibility for general and specialized patient care to ensure the delivery of safe and quality health care.
- Oversees various nursing aspects to ensure smooth procedure completion.
- Demonstrates a mastery of basic nursing skills and competency in area of clinical specialty.
- Demonstrates a working knowledge of maintaining sterile technique.
- Maintains daily Quality Assurance statistics.

What you will need:

- Current State of Illinois License.
- American Heart Association CPR Certification
- American Heart Association ACLS Certification
- Education: Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing.
- Experience: Minimum one year Cardiac Cath Lab experience or at least one year of critical care experience.
- Skills:

Clinical skills, sound judgment, communication skills and organizational skills.

Knowledge of EKG and recognition of arrhythmias.

Knowledge of Hemodynamic monitoring and waveform recognition.

Knowledge of emergency drugs.

Knowledge of aseptic techniques.

Knowledge of IABP care and insertion.

- Equipment: Specialized equipment in Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory.
