The Patient Care Tech, under the direction of a registered nurse, is responsible for direct patient care considering age specific, developmental, cultural and spiritual needs. They assist in establishing and maintaining a patient care environment that is clean, safe and conducive to patient/family wellbeing including concepts of relationship-based care.

Shifts Available: 6:30 am-3:00pm; 2:30pm-11:00pm, 10:30pm-7:00am

Required Education / Licensure:

• High school diploma or GED
• Minimum of one year of previous direct care experience (acute or long term) or successful completion of CENA, PCT, MA, or EMT course.

What You Will Do:

• Training is provided to prepare our colleagues for success.
• The PCT assists patient in completing ADLs including: Bathing, showering, toileting, positioning, turning, transferring, ambulation using assistive devices and with feeding and menu selection.

The Nursing Station Tech position is responsible for assisting with patient care, performing receptionist duties at the station, and maintaining patient care areas.

Other titles/roles with similar duties to that of our Nursing Station Tech are Nurse Assistant (CNA), Patient Care Assistant (PCA) and Health Unit Coordinator.

18 years of age.

Preferred: 1-2 years experience working in a health care setting as a HUC, NA or NST or equivalent experience.
Preferred: Vocational/Technical Training or Associate Degree
Preferred: Successful completion of a health unit coordinator program
Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance.

License or Certification:

Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers from one of the following programs:​
     1. American Heart Association
     2. American Red Cross

If a candidate does not currently have their Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers from one of the accepted programs listed above, certification will be included as part of the orientation program.

• Assist in the preparation for patient procedures; arranges drapes, dressings, instruments, basins, solutions and other items on instruments table and trays for maximum efficiency in handling.
• Ensures the proper functioning of surgical instruments, equipment and supplies during surgical procedures.
• Maintains strict aseptic environment. Labels and dispatches solutions, medications per physician order and hospital policy.
• Demonstrates knowledge of the step-by-step progress of specific procedures displays dexterity in the use of required instrumentation; participates in specimen management by correctly identifying specimen when received from the surgeon and when forwarding specimen to the circulator.
• Prepares and knows the specific uses of all equipment and supplies for procedures; performs procedural counts if required per policy & utilizes time management skills.
• Attends meetings and in-services as assigned; follows work schedules and demonstrates good attendance; works independently, uses time effectively and completes work by assigned deadlines; performs other duties as needed to ensure optimal customer satisfaction.
• Follows infection control policies, Association of perioperative Registered Nurses (AORN) recommendation practices, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines, and other regulatory requirements in order to assure a safe work environment for self, coworkers and patients
• Performs other duties as assigned.

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • Completion of an accredited Surgical Tech program

• Preferred
  
  • One year of experience as a Surgical Tech

• Required
  
  • Must have one of the following:
    
    • Surgical Technician Certification by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting
• Surgical Technician Certification by the National Center for Competency Testing
  
  • United States Military or United States Public Health Service Surgical Technology Program
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
    
    • Must obtain within ninety (90) days of hire
