POSITION SUMMARY
The Interventional Radiology Technologist is responsible for all aspects of diagnostic and interventional procedures performed in the Specials Suite. Performs technical duties utilizing various types of equipment to image selected vascular structures or therapeutic intervention. Principles of positioning, radiographic sciences, and radiation protection are exercised with specialized techniques. Assists and supports the physicians with invasive procedures. Job Summary of the Special Procedures TechnologistUnder the leadership of the Lead Interventional Technologist, this role provides technical assistance to all physicians working in the Interventional Suites with both diagnostic and interventional procedures. Responsible for the day-to-day clinical, technical and operational functions within the Imaging department. This includes, but is not limited to, the efficient, effective procurement, utilization and stewardship of all technical, physical and human resources. Ensures compliance with patient care quality standards as it relates to care provided to all age groups of patients in area, ranging from neonate to geriatric. Participates in performance improvement activities within the Interventional department and participates in CQI activities. This position requires compliance with all Joint Commission, state, federal, Corporate Radiation Right, and local regulatory laws, standards and protocols. Must possess critical thinking skills and strive to create and maintain great relationships with all facility stakeholders.
Responsibilities of the Special Procedures Technologist- Assist with all procedures performed in the Interventional Suite.
- Demonstrate proficiency with all equipment within the Interventional Suite procedure room including but not limited to: Fluoroscopy, Pan Table, Med Rad injector, Monitors, Ultrasound Unit, Control panels for digital acquisition and image transfer.
- Demonstrate understanding of supplies used for specified procedure
- Demonstrate familiarity with Renal, Neuro, Peripheral and Vascular anatomy
- Demonstrate sterile technique as appropriate and maintain sterile field while performing scrub position
- Prepare patient and room for exams while managing wires and other multiple components required for procedure.
- Perform role of circulator during procedure including: pull supplies, altering technique as phase of exam requires, man and operate injector, communicate to patient family/unit progress, and answer physician calls/pages during procedure.
- Provide patient care throughout procedure while explaining the procedure to patient and ensure understanding.
- Ensures patient safety throughout exam.
- Adhere to Standard Precautions or Isolation precaution appropriate for patient.
- Performs other assigned duties to ensure optimal department function.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Associate Degree or graduate from an accredited Radiological Technology Program (ARRT)
- 2-years Radiology Tech experience in an acute setting
- 1-2 years' experience as an Interventional Technologist
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES:
- Licensed Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT) with the Texas Medical Board
- Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
- Primary certification in Radiography - ARRT (R) or Vascular Interventional Radiography (VI). If ARRT (R), VI must be acquired with 12 months of hire or transfer to Specials
- NIHSS within one month of employment start date
- Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date

Position Duties: Responsible for applying and removing masking materials on customer parts to ensure protection during various processes . The role involves preparing and setting up masking equipment/tools, performing masking tasks with precision and ensuring all masking operations meet quality and production standards. Additionally will rack, unrack, and pack parts as needed.
Example: Imagine there's a part smaller than a penny. You need to hold that part and place a small needle sized plug in a tiny hole on the side. There's 3000 of these parts. The work needs to be accurate, consistent, and done in a timely manner. You need good vision, steady hands, good hand/eye coordination, smaller hands generally handle these parts best, and attention to detail is a must. It's important to note that part sizes and quantities vary (small to large) based on what the customer sends us.

- Application/removal of masking materials such a silicon or rubber plugs, tape and chemical maskants (paint) per customer specifications
- Counting parts to ensure compliance with customer Purchase Order and Production Work Order
- Perform a variety of modification and assembly functions (touch-up, preparation, rework, or repair) on a variety of components, assemblies and devices based on customer product specifications
- Get own parts and material from supplies or Masking Team Lead
- Helps monitor inventory levels and the request to purchase supplies and materials to meet production requirements in a timely manner
- Assists in the inspection of product and notifies the Team Lead/Supervisor of any nonconformance's
- Records masking details and any necessary information on the work order as required
- Packages parts to safely transport to production areas
- Accurately complete the necessary forms and adheres to scheduling due dates
- Works safely at all times and complies with all safety regulations while working with hazardous materials and chemicals
- Maintains equipment and work area in a clean and organized manner
- Works with a positive attitude and reports all questions or problems to the Masking Team Lead or Supervisor
- Maintain a productive work environment through accuracy, attention to detail and making sure the job is carried per specification in a timely fashion to meet or exceed target rates
