Position Summary: LPNs (Licensed Practical Nurses) are responsible for medications, treatments, and staff oversight under the direction of the RN. Resident support — Deliver compassionate, person-centered care while fostering a sense of dignity and independence for each resident.
e Medication administration — Conduct daily medication pass with accuracy and care in accordance with physician orders and facility guidelines.
Shift leadership — provide leadership for the care team during your shift, including guidance and support.
e Team collaboration — work closely with resident assistants, other nurses, and management in a cooperative, respectful environment.
Documentation — complete required documentation promptly and accurately to support resident care.
Consult with the RN on any changes in a care plan or schedule and communicate with patients and their families about their care plan.
Attends and actively participates in in-servicing, orienting and educational activities.
Education Requirements:
Must be a high school graduate.
Must graduate from a nursing education program acceptable to the New York State Education Department (NYSED).
Must be licensed with current registration in New York.
Must be able to:
Stand, walk, and lift for long periods of time
Read and write using medical terminology
Working knowledge of computers including electronic medication administration records, processing of orders, checking email, and preforming required in servicing, along with use of other required applications Have the visual and auditory acuity adequate to perform observations and patient care

Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.

12. If caring for ECMO patients:
Attend and satisfy all the requirements of a formal course of study that is based upon the guidelines and recommendations set forth by the Extracorporeal Life Support Organization (ELSO), designed by the ECLS Program Coordinator, and approved by the ECLS Program Medical Director.
Complete (72) hours of supervised ECLS case management experience
First (36) hours obtained with a qualified preceptor at the pump
Remaining (36) hours obtained as the primary pump specialist with a veteran specialist as the patient’s bedside RN
Satisfactorily participate in an introductory (8) hour ECLS competency simulation workshop verified by the ECLS Coordinator and ECLS Medical Director.
Satisfy annual requirements to maintain status as an ECLS specialist.
Provides and directs safe, effective and culturally competent care for high risk, critically acute patients with actual or potential life-threatening conditions. Through evidence-based practice, utilizes critical thinking to assess, plan, implement and evaluate outcome-based care of patients. Provides care to critically ill patients including cardiovascular and surgical patients. May assume responsibilities and accountability for assigned ECMO patients. Essential Functions:
Develops and maintains departmental daily staffing plan detailing appropriate employee classifications and qualifications consistent with the department's operational plan, projected volumes, patient/acuity and other relevant indicators. Assures compliance with staffing plan.
Oversees daily operations, staff management, and coordination of interdepartmental activities within the unit or department during the assigned shift.
Responsible for resolving clinical issues, and serving as a liaison between nurses, physicians, and administrative teams.
Provides orientation/education for staff and students to ensure assigned patients have a positive care experience.
Leads staff in the delivery of safe and effective patient care.
Delivers nursing care by assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care in collaboration with the physician.
Provides input on staff interviewing and hiring decisions as delegated by the unit leader.
Maintains knowledge of documentation requirements needed for patient records.
Ensures compliance with all policies and procedures governing assigned services, including Joint Commission standards, safety protocols, and applicable federal, state, and regulatory requirements.
Serves as a resource, mentor, and role model in delivering patient care using a team approach.
Facilitates communication between patient/family, physicians and other caregivers to achieve consensus for the plan of care. Consults with the Ethics Committee as appropriate.
Leads and promotes evidence-based practice and research among unit leaders and staff.
Leads quality improvement activities including performance improvement processes to facilitate clinical practice changes.
Conduct follow-up on incident reports as directed by the Unit leader and participate in ongoing audits of nursing-sensitive indicators to ensure regulatory compliance. General Requirements & Education:

Schedule:
Night Shift, .6 FTE (24 hours per week)
RNs work 12-hour shifts
Day shift: 6:00 am – 6:30 pm, Night shift: 6:00 pm – 6:30 am
This unit self-schedules. Schedules are 6-week bocks
Minimum Qualifications:
Associate degree in nursing required
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
Possession of a current or compact state licensure as a Registered Nurse issued/defined by the State of Iowa
American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) required
American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required only if the unit has telemetry monitoring capabilities
Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter – Child and/or Dependent Adult Abuse training within three (3) months of hire

As a Registered Nurse at MercyOne, you will provide and direct safe, effective, and culturally competent care for patients with acute medical and surgical conditions. Through evidence-based practice, utilizes critical thinking to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate outcome-based care. The Acute Care RN manages a diverse patient population with varying levels of acuity, including post-operative, medical, telemetry, and neurologic patients. Supervises and coordinates care provided by LPNs, Patient Care Assistants, and other nursing team members. Facilitates communication with physicians, patients and families, and interdisciplinary team members. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Administers nursing care to patients; includes assessment, planning, implementing and evaluating the patient’s care plan in coordination with the physician.
Provides patient/family or caregiver education and counseling in recognition and solution of physical, emotional and environmental health problems.
Supervises health care members (i.e., patient care technicians, etc.) with patients.
Utilizes computer applications and communication technologies appropriate to the work setting to enter, retrieve and analyze information and to facilitate communication and education.
Maintains knowledge of documentation requirements needed for patients’ record.
Works independently with limited direct supervision using the Nurse Practice Act, Mercy Medical Center polices, nursing standards and professional judgement.
Maintains knowledge of equipment set-up, maintenance, and use (i.e., IV pumps, monitoring equipment, and drainage devices). Utilizes safeguards such as IV pump drug library and monitor alarms whenever available to maximize patient safety.
Works rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays as scheduled.
EDUCATION: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
EXPERIENCE: Nursing experience in a hospital setting preferred.
LICENSURE: Current license as a Registered Nurse from the State of Iowa required.
