As a Registered Nurse at MercyOne, you will provide and direct safe, effective, and culturally-competent care for the pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient. Key accountabilities include assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care using critical thinking and

evidenced-based practice; adherence to Professional Practice Standards as defined by ANA; and active participation in quality monitoring and performance improvement activities.

Schedule:

  • 20 hr/week, 10 hour days
  • Flex start time between 7am-10am
  • On call one weeknight 7p - 7a
  • On call one Saturday and Sunday over 6 week period
  • Self-scheduling with approval of Charge RN

Essential Functions: 

  • Administers nursing care to patients; includes assessment, planning, implementing, and evaluating the patient’s care plan in coordination with the physician.
  • Provides nursing care guided by physician orders, unit protocols and professional judgment.
  • Communicates effectively and appropriately with staff, physicians, patients, families and other healthcare team members.
  • Participates in ongoing educational activities related to clinical knowledge and professional issues.
  • Contributes to the professional development of peers and colleagues by sharing knowledge and skills.

Essential Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Educate patients, care givers, students, and other health care colleagues on the effect of therapeutic diets and nutrition support to maintain/improve nutritional status.
  • When assigned, provide support and supervision to the daily infant formula preparation routine which includes identifying and calculating recipes to individualize the formula to meet nutritional needs of the infant.
  • Participate in department activities to enhance patient satisfaction.
  • Keep current on nutrition research and incorporate into daily practice. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Required: Bachelor’s Degree
  • Preferred: Master’s Degree
  • Specify Degree(s): Dietetics, Nutrition or Family & Consumer Science with ACEND (Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics) requirements completed.
  • Required: Less than one year of previous job-related experience
  • Required: Registered Dietitian with the Commission on Dietetic Registration and Licensed as a Dietitian with the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation. Must obtain registration and licensure within 6 months of hire date.

 

 

Pay Rate: $30.01 per hour 

 

Actual compensation will fall within the range but may vary based on factors such as experience, qualifications, education, location, licensure, certification requirements, and comparisons to colleagues in similar roles.

Position Purpose:

This position accepts the responsibility and accountability for the delivery of patient care with the multidisciplinary team while using the nursing process and maintaining professional nursing standards.

What you will Do:

  • Assesses and evaluates the patient’s physical, psychosocial, environmental, spiritual, social and education needs and documents patient/family responses to nursing interventions while working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to achieve desired patient care outcomes.

  • Develops and implements patient’s plan of care, including the discharge plan, based on standards of nursing practice, health center policy, and patient/family needs using clinical/critical thinking skills Reviews and updates the plan of care based on changes in patient’s condition

  • Guides and directs patient care activities for the above-indicated population, by utilizing clinical/critical thinking skills and evidence based practice

  • Provides daily direction and guidance to Licensed Practical Nurse and Nurse Assistant

  • Provides, facilitates, and/or implements learning opportunities to meet the educational needs of patient/family by assessing the learning needs and formulating and initiating a teaching plan to meet those needs

  • Effectively communicates pertinent patient changes/conditions to colleagues and to multidisciplinary caregivers

  • Attends and participates in departmental/organizational meetings, in-services and educational opportunities. Department meeting attendance requirement: 80% with 50% in person if department meetings are available by webinar.

  • Serves as a steward for the hospital’s human and material resources. Meets productivity expectations of unit/department as defined by unit manager. Utilizes and maintains appropriate supplies in department. Supports staffing needs for patient care in multiple units, as needed, while being flexible with schedule and hours.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate Degree in Nursing or graduate from an accredited RN program required.

  • Current RN licensure in the state of Iowa required.

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred

  • Previous experience in acute care preferred, one year preferred.
