The Role
This position is for job seekers with no trades experience willing to complete three weeks of unpaid training in the Outside Machinist trade.
Newport News Shipbuilding has partnered with the Virginia Ship Repair Association and local Virginia community colleges and maritime training facilities to offer several course-to-hire Marine Trades Training (MTT) programs for individuals interested in learning a trade and working full-time for Newport News Shipbuilding. Courses are offered once a month with 8-10 students per class. The Machinist Trainee program is offered at Camp Community College (Suffolk, VA). This (UNPAID) program is 3-weeks (120 hours), 7:00am - 3:30pm (Monday thru Friday).
To learn more about the Marine Trades Training (MTT) programs and how the process works, please visit: machinists are responsible for installing, maintaining, testing, and repairing a ship's major mechanical components and systems. Their work takes place on naval vessels at various stages of new construction, overhaul, or repair. Key components involved may include steam turbines, reduction gears, propellers, reactor components, catapults, weapons systems, periscopes, as well as laundry, food service, and refrigeration equipment.
Outside machinists utilize a wide variety of tools and machinery, from basic hand tools like wrenches and screwdrivers to advanced equipment such as torque wrenches, micrometers, drill presses, optical instruments, mills, portable machines, boring equipment, precision grinders, and lathes.
Working at Newport News Shipbuilding often involves performing tasks in various weather conditions, at extreme heights on scaffolding, ladders, or elevated platforms and in small, confined spaces such as tanks, compartments, or voids in a ship. These environments require a strong focus on safety, precision, and adaptability, as well as physical agility and comfort working in challenging conditions.

Job Details

The Assistant Store Manager helps maintain a clean, well-organized store with a customer-first focus. At the direction and delegation of the Store Manager, the Assistant Store Manager assists with supervision of store employees, management and presentation of merchandise, completion of paperwork, and preparation of deposits. Job Summary
Reporting to the Trade Operations Leader, the Trade Compliance Associate supports the execution of international trade compliance activities to help ensure HellermannTyton North America operates in accordance with U.S. Customs and applicable foreign trade regulations. This position provides day-to-day operational and compliance support for import and export processes, including reviewing entry documentation, maintaining HTS classifications and Country of Origin (COO) data, and administering free trade agreement programs such as USMCA. The role assists with vendor solicitation and collection of COO and HTS certifications, maintains required trade documentation, and supports accurate duty application and trade remedy tracking. This will be achieved while maintaining HellermannTyton's Quality and EHS certifications by supporting all corporate policies, procedures, work instructions, and required documentation.

The Trade Compliance Associate is responsible for maintaining organized and accurate trade records, updating internal databases, and ensuring activities align with established corporate policies, departmental procedures, and regulatory requirements.

Essential Functions:





  • Prepare and issue Free Trade Agreement (FTA) certificates, including USMCA, and other required trade program declarations for customers and affiliated entities.

  • Perform FTA qualification analyses for manufactured and resale products in accordance with applicable U.S. trade agreement rules.

  • Review and audit import entry documentation to ensure accurate HTS classification, Country of Origin (COO), trade remedy applicability (e.g., Section 232/301, IEEPA), and proper duty assessment.

  • Assign and maintain product trade classifications, including HTS, ECCN, Schedule B, COO, and applicable preference criteria, with supporting documentation.

  • Coordinate with internal teams, suppliers, manufacturers, and customs brokers to obtain and validate required classification and origin data.

  • Maintain and update the internal trade compliance database to ensure accurate import and export classification records.

  • Administer the annual supplier solicitation process for trade certifications covering purchased materials, components, and resale products.

  • File Electronic Export Information (EEI) through AES and maintain ITN documentation for U.S. export shipments.

  • Conduct restricted party screening and escalate potential matches in accordance with U.S. Export Administration Regulations (EAR).

Success in this role with require:





  • Working knowledge of Free Trade Agreements (including USMCA) and domestic trade programs, with an understanding of their commercial and compliance impact.

  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify root causes and assess downstream impacts of changes in trade data.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to analyze data and summarize findings clearly and accurately.

  • Understanding of Regional Value Content (RVC) methodologies and qualification requirements under U.S. Free Trade Agreements.

  • Ability to assign and interpret trade classifications, including HTS, ECCN, Schedule B, Country of Origin, and applicable preference criteria.

  • Knowledge of supplier FTA certification solicitation and documentation processes for manufactured and resale products.

  • Familiarity with U.S. export documentation requirements and procedures for transmitting export data to freight forwarders and customers.

  • Understanding of restricted party screening requirements under U.S. Export Administration Regulations (EAR).

  • Working knowledge of trade compliance recordkeeping requirements under 15 CFR, 19 CFR, and applicable GAAP standards.

  • Demonstrated initiative with a continuous improvement mindset and commitment to trade compliance best practices.



What You'll Bring



  • Bachelor's degree preferred. Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in Trade Compliance, International Transportation, or Logistics, with demonstrated exposure to import and export compliance requirements.

  • Proficiency in AES Direct and ACE systems.

  • Working knowledge of international trade regulations, customs procedures, and global transportation practices.

  • Experience with ERP systems; JD Edwards preferred.

  • Familiarity with international shipping documentation, including commercial invoices, packing lists, air waybills, HTS classification, Country of Origin, customs valuation, and export classification requirements.

  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, demonstrating initiative and accountability in completing assigned tasks.

  • Spanish language proficiency is a plus

Midwest Yogurt, part of the Lactalis family of companies, is currently hiring a Trade Manager, Foodservice based in Minneapolis, MN or Buffalo, NY preferably.


The Trade Manager for our Foodservice business at Lactalis Midwest Yogurt, Inc. (Yoplait, GoGurt, Oui, Ratio, Mountain High) is the financial engine behind our entire Foodservice commercial operation. This leader is responsible for the overall strategic design, financial modeling, governance, and control of all trade promotional funding and spending across every Foodservice channel of business. This includes managing trade spend for National Broadliners (e.g., Sysco, US Foods), National Chains, Power Regional Distributors, Buying Groups (UniPro), FMCs/GPOs, and all highly regulated channels (WIC, K-12). The primary objective is to maximize the Return on Investment (ROI) of every trade dollar, ensure forecasting accuracy, and instill best-in-class trade compliance and deduction management practices across the sales organization.


From your EXPERTISE to ours

Key responsibilities for this position include:


Trade Investment Strategy & Planning: Own the annual and quarterly trade budget for the entire Foodservice P&L. Design, model, and recommend optimal trade structures by channel (Broadline, Chain, Regional, FMC, GPO, WIC/K-12) to align with commercial objectives and maximize net revenue.

Trade Governance & Compliance: Establish, document, and enforce company policies for all trade spending. Serve as the gatekeeper for all exceptions, ensuring that programs align with legal requirements, internal controls, and trade reporting standards.

Trade System Ownership: Oversee the end-to-end functionality and data integrity of the Trade Management system. Drive continuous improvement in trade planning, forecasting, and reporting capabilities across the organization.

Deduction Management & Leakage Control: Lead the cross-functional effort to minimize unauthorized deductions and trade leakage. Work closely with Finance and Sales to validate, investigate, and resolve all claims from distributors and customers in a timely manner.

Commercial Performance & ROI Analysis: Conduct robust post-contract analysis on major programs and promotions, providing the Vice President of Sales and executive leadership with actionable insights on where to reallocate funds to drive higher ROI and profitable growth.


From your STORY to ours

Qualified applicants will contribute the following:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance or a related field, MBA preferred
  • Experience: 7+ years in Trade Management, Sales Finance, or Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), with significant experience in a high-volume, promotional industry (Foodservice, CPG, or related Food Manufacturing).
  • Technical Skills (preferred): Expert-level Excel modeling and hands-on experience as a power user of a major TPM platform (e.g., Vistex, SAP, BluePlanner, Blacksmith).
  • Financial Acumen: Deep understanding of the P&L from Gross Sales to Operating Income, with proven success in managing and influencing trade spend to drive bottom-line results.
