Position Objective: JOIN A COMPANY WHERE YOUR WORK MAKES A DIFFERENCE. Sunbelt Modular is a wholesale manufacturer that provides prefabricated buildings and structures to modular building dealers. We build schools, medical offices, data centers, and many other types of buildings. This role will work closely with the engineering group and will provide support to sales, estimating, and production teams. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in structural analysis and engineering design principles for both gravity and lateral systems with various building materials including wood and steel. The role provides structural engineering support and services to multiple modular manufacturing facilities around the United States. This position is remote with minimal travel required.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide assistance to the engineering team (or individually) to move a project through the structural design phase
- Provide a complete structural calculations package for the entire design of modular units both individually and as a multi-unit complex for the state submission of each project
- Structural calculations are to include a comprehensive design of the modular unit for both the gravity and lateral systems
- Gravity designs consist of roof framing members, bearing walls, continuous span multi-layer plywood beams, structural steel clean-span trusses, engineered posts, built-up posts, HSS structural steel posts, floor joists, and wide flange structural steel chassis members
- Lateral design consists of roof and floor diaphragm sheathing, exterior wall shearwalls, interior wall shearwalls, and structural steel portal frames
- Ability to complete ‘special interest’ projects from start to finish including multi-story modular unit complexes, shipping container conversion projects, and others

Qualifications and Educational Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an EAC/ABET accredited university
- Licensed professional civil/structural engineer – preference given to candidates actively licensed in Alaska, California, and Hawaii; ability to obtain additional state licensures quickly
- Complete and current NCEES record holder
- Minimum of three (3) years’ experience as a practicing P.E. (civil/structural)
- Experience in load development and correct application to the structure
- Experience developing structural calculations for gravity and lateral systems

- Read work orders, blueprints, lofts, sketches and operation sheets to determine sequence of operations, type size and hole pattern for rivets, cut and form plastics and follow standard operating procedures when using adhesives, sealants, and solvents .
- Check all work and ensure a defective free assembly prior to final inspection .
- Maintain and use all logs and records (e.g. MIR sheets, DMTs, Crabs, PCOs) .

Position Summary:
The Structural Department Manager is responsible for leading and managing the daily operations of the Structural, Pipe, and Labor Departments in support of ship repair, maintenance, and modernization projects. This role ensures all work is performed safely, efficiently, within budget, and to the highest quality standards in accordance with applicable specifications and regulatory requirements.
The Structural Department Manager is responsible for setting the tone and culture of the department, ensuring full alignment with company expectations and strategic objectives. This role requires proactive leadership, accountability, and a strong commitment to organizational priorities. Department Managers are expected to champion company initiatives and directives from senior leadership, clearly communicating and reinforcing them within their teams as unified, department-level guidance.
The manager oversees a broad scope of production activities, including structural steel fabrication and repairs, hull modifications, deck and bulkhead work, piping system installation and testing, and general labor support services. Responsibilities include coordinating structural welders, fitters, pipefitters, laborers, and support crews to meet production goals and project schedules.
This position requires strong knowledge of shipboard structures, welding and pipefitting techniques, material handling, and staging. The Structural Department Manager works closely with project teams, planning, and other production departments to integrate efforts across trades, resolve technical and logistical challenges, and ensure customer satisfaction. - Lead coordination efforts between departments, subcontractors, and project management teams to resolve production and technical issues that may impact critical path work.
- Monitor and enforce compliance with company policies, OSHA regulations, and customer-specific safety and environmental requirements, including confined space entry, fall protection, and hazard communication standards.

Job Summary: Generally responsible for supervision and technical direction over a team of engineers and designers when functioning as a lead engineer. Summary/Objective:
The Structural Engineer position is primarily focused on mechanical structures and supports for our industrial and commercial divisions (local and national accounts). This position works closely with our Project Leaders and our in-house design teams to provide designs and concepts along with professional guidance when needed. Position Responsibilities:
Level 3
Develop, integrate and document structural requirements to establish the system design
Coordinate with other engineering groups to establish the product's environment
Guide product design and verify structural integrity by using analytical methods, finite element models/simulations and other analysis tools throughout the product lifecycle to develop the structural environment, characteristics and performance
Develop test plans and configurations, support test execution and analyze/report test results to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications
Define and document certification and test results to substantiate for customers and regulatory agencies that requirements are satisfied
Support in-service products by investigating failures and analyzing improvements
Works under general direction

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills / Experience):
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus on Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace Aeronautical or Material Sciences)
Level 3: 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience
Level 4: 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience
Experience performing hand calculations, using industry CAD system (NX/Teamcenter), FEM software (ABAQUS, PATRAN/NASTRAN, Stresscheck, Hyperworks)
This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship as a condition of employment. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills / Experience):
Experience with Boeing Analysis Tools (CAESAR, Lifeworks, Mechanica, Common Structures Workstation)
Structural analysis experience on military or commercial aircraft

About the Role
The Structural Project Manager will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing self-performed structural construction projects, ensuring they are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to CW Matthews’ quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Manage all phases of structural construction projects, from preconstruction through final completion
- Oversee self-performed structural work including scheduling, labor planning, equipment, and materials
- Coordinate with superintendents, engineers, subcontractors, and internal teams
- Develop and manage project budgets, cost controls, and forecasts
- Review plans, specifications, and contracts to ensure accurate execution
- Ensure compliance with safety policies, quality standards, and regulatory requirements
- Track project progress and prepare regular reports for leadership
- Assist with change management, RFIs, submittals, and documentation
Qualifications

Job Description
- Design and engineer building structural systems (steel, concrete, wood, masonry) from concept through construction
- Perform structural analysis and calculations for gravity, lateral, wind, and seismic loads
- Develop clear construction documents and coordinate structural drawings with architects and other disciplines
- Review shop drawings, RFIs, and submittals; support the team through construction administration
- Apply building codes and standards (IBC, ASCE, AISC, ACI, NDS) to create safe, efficient designs
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to solve complex field and constructability challenges

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related field
